Name: Caden Gibson
Age: 24
Appearance:
Specialty: For now, Caden mostly has a support role, boosting allies' skills rather than fighting on his own.
Personality: Ironically for a musician, Caden is a quiet person, shy and awkward around people he doesn't know well. He's often more comfortable working on his projects than socialising, even if he does tend to be pessimistic about said efforts and how much they'll achieve in the end. Still, he tries to put up an air of confidence, albeit one that usually makes him look like a goof more than anything else. He opens up more, becoming livelier and chattier, as he gets to know someone.
Equipment: SDC bracelet, armoured vest, arm and leg guards, handgun he can use in a pinch. Rather less useful, although still helpful to calm his nerves, is the mint chewing gum he carries around. As for items he has at home, notable ones are a guitar and amplifier, a synthesizer, and a laptop with music composition programs.
Background: As any creator knows, the first attempt is rarely the best. This was how Caden was made to feel growing up, in comparison to his more academically and athletically inclined younger brother Neal. His father, however, had faith in him, noticing and encouraging his talent for music. Having been in many bands in his youth, but never having gotten anywhere, he believed Caden could succeed where he'd failed.
During Caden's teenage years, however, his father grew ill with heart disease. The man spent his last few days wracked with bitterness, ranting about what a failure his life had been. To make sure the same thing didn't happen with the two boys, their mother put even more pressure on them, and Caden had to give up his dreams in pursuit of "real" ambitions. Not that he truly knew what he wanted or was meant to do, while Neal, in contrast, showed more and more promise.
Eventually, after working a few basic jobs, Caden was able to move away from the family he'd disappointed. Slowly, he started getting back into music, relearning to play the guitar and self-teaching digital composition. He even helped with making video games and animations as per request, doing background music, although all these projects failed for various reasons. On the verge of giving up again, he thought things couldn't get any worse, but as is always the way, they could.
It started with the curse sweeping over the city. Within a year, it had dragged many of Wincrest's residents into a living nightmare - one of the later cases being Neal's disappearance. Despite many SDC members' reluctance, Caden's recruitment was a relief. Now, he'd have a chance to find and rescue his brother.
Daydream: Caden's Daydream manifests as a guitar, resembling the old electric Epiphone his father taught him on, only neon green with pink and yellow highlights. When he plays, it always sounds as if it's plugged into an amplifier. So far, the only power it grants him is to give a small but noticeable boost to physical skills and Daydreams of Sweet Dreamers by playing a song.
Fun Fact: Likes video games when he has the chance to play them. He sometimes talks about SDC missions in video game terms to lighten the mood.
