Name: Lawrence Beetlejuice Shoggoth
Age: Dirt
Gender: Male
Species: Poltergeist/Demon
Fandom: Beetlejuice Broadway Musical
Personality: The ghost With the Most...emotional distress. Beeltejuice is a chaotic neutral with all the trustworthiness of a used car salesmen and a penchant for eating insects. He carries three kids standing on each other's shoulders worth of emotional baggage, poorly disguised in a trench coat of humor.
Other: Beetlejuice can travel back and forth between the living world and the Netherworld. However, in the living world he can't stray too far from his trusty human sidekick, Lydia. He is also invisible to living humans unless summoned. Only Lydia can summon him, by saying his name three times consecutively. He can be un-summoned the same way, or by straying too far from Lydia.
He has a wide and poorly defined set of powers. Think the genie from Aladdin, but dead. His powers mostly exist in his ghostly plane, meaning he can't particularly effect the living world unless summoned.
History: His mother was a cruel, alcoholic demon who happens to hate him. He became the delinquent that he is today because of her. Unfortunately for him, she was also a big wig in the Netherworld. This has led to his named being smeared through the mud, mocked, and generally being made a joke of. As one can imagine, he's not particularly fond of being in the Netherworld.
He escaped the constant torment he faced there by spending most of his time in the living world, tormenting and taking his frustration out on humans. Beeltejuice wasn't a very nice demon. Luckily for everyone, he couldn't seem to get humans to actually see him, thus his full wrath was never truly experienced.
This was all changed when he found a special human child who could, for whatever reason, see and interact with him. He began to devise a devious plan to get this kid to say his name, summon him, and then wreak absolute chaos. However, something about this tiny human spoke to a softer side of the malevolent demon. She was small, alone in the world, tormented, just like he was in his own home world. To make matters worse, when she did summon him, he couldn't go very far without her being close by to keep him tethered to the living plane. Basically, he was stuck with this kid.
Being introduced to Lydia changed Beetlejuice over time. He grew a close bond with the human girl, like a guardian angel. Only not an angel and kinda' evil. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, their little secret got out. The government caught wind of the demon with the ability to bend reality as we know it, and decided that they had to capture the girl to control him.
Beetlejuice and Lydia were transported to Hawkins, Indiana, where they've been kept under wraps for several years. The officials in charge of them use them to spy on other countries, commit political assassinations, and wage war where ever be. Beetlejuice is kept within Lydia's holding cell by a ring of salt, which he can't cross. He can still escape to the Netherworld, but only does so on occasion because 1) He hates that place and 2) That leaves Lydia alone. Should he try and otherwise escape or harm his favorite human's captors, Lydia receives the punishment.
For now, he's stuck being a good little pet demon.
