The only thing off the top of my head is how open are you to the idea of using different abilities for certain skills? For example, using strength for intimidation checks, dexterity for athletic checks, etc etc. Also do you utilize passive perception/investigation?

For strength based intimidation checks, I will allow, it just depends on how you do the intimidation. For dexterity based athletic checks, I have a hard time imagining it, I was saw it would depend on how you do the athletics, but I usually find it hard. For passive skills, I do utilize them, like if a goblin rolls stealth and someone's character passive perception beats it, then they would be aware that the goblin is hiding.

I kinda take issue with this, but I'll be cool with it so long as you roll in the open.

Of course, for my games, I almost always show my rolls to players that are visible for their characters to see. The exceptions where I would not show a roll would be something like an enemy trying to hide.

I think I did pretty well for the first roll of the game.

If you aren't awake yet, you should probably do something about that. Elsewise there'll be no ass left for you to kick by the time Angus is done.

@Lucius Cypher
I think Angus and Orchid might actually be in the same cell. I could be wrong, but considering the fact that Azzen and Najila were traveling together before waking up in the same cell, I have a feeling the same may go for us and Aron.

I probably should've asked before I posted, but I was under the impression we're all in our own cells. Hence why the DM said our cells were "oddly spacious" and didn't describe if we individually see one another, to probably detonate that more of us could've been put into individual cells, but for some reason we all have one to ourselves.

Maybe. @Expolar Could you clarify?

Sorry if it was specified enough, but rush9s would be correct. The two traveling group have two spacious cells for the two groups. The one cell for the ones traveling in Novus and the other cell ones traveling in Sansea.

But since you already rolled, you could use that for the other cell as Angus basically had enough to force the old cell door to open. But how quietly, that's another story lol

Not at all quietly. In fact, Angus opened that door as loudly as he could to catch the attention of whoever locked him up. The sooner he can introduce himself, the better.

Eh, I'll leave my post as it is for now. If Orchid can find out what is the right key to open a door, than she can use the same key to open up the other cell doors and free the other trapped people quickly and easily. Presumably Orchid just examines the door after Angus throws it off it's hinges. Though I will edit one thing in there to make Angus' vendetta more manageable.

Edit: There we go. Angus now has Orchid's glaive so he can rip and tear a bit more effectively. I know it's not his sword but it's better than nothing.

Any chance Angus is close enough to Azzen and Najila's cell to hear the crying?

She trying not to cry too loudly that I think your passive perception would be enough to hear in the cell room where people are awaking up. But I suppose with that said exit, it's up to you if Angus is not too angry enough to listen a bit of the girl's faint cry.

Oh you know I should've asked this a much longer while ago, but do you allow the disarm rule from DMG, page 271?

I'm okay with the idea. Keep in mind that this would be doing the same for all enemies and allies when the they find the best opportunity to do so. Also it does say you do damage if successfully disarm someone, so I also like the decision there for damage or disarming.

What does everyone else think?

I've always been under the impression that as long as your melee attack beats their athletic/acrobatics, you don't do any damage but you do disarm them. I don't entirely mind damaging and disarming at the same time, but the damage itself would probably be weakened, something like only doing the damage bonus and no additional damage die. But I would still prefer choosing between disarming or damaging.

Oh oops, I was a bit rushed and didn't realize that I forgot to place a NOT:

Which is why I mention damage or disarm. Especially as it feels you would be focusing more on the weapon than the person.

The sound of the door being pulled from its hinges drew his attention and he looked up in time to see Angus marching out of the cell, Orchid's glaive in his hands

Angus hasn't left he cell just yet.
