Evie nodded in reply, now less on edge once it was explained what was going on. At least this would be helpful in the long run should someone pull a knife or dagger on her. She watched as the brothers showed one demonstration, keeping a close eye on the hand movements as they did. Once Sam had the knife again, he walked over to Evie to show her how.

She proved to be a fast learner, making a few mistakes here and there but soon getting the hang of it. She soon learned how to disarm and get the blade in different scenarios, ending one practice where there was one near her throat. She smiled proudly as she held the blade after disarming Dean. She felt ready to take on anything.

Bobby watched as the boys trained the girl how to disarm, he felt a sense of pride, seeing how much of a fast learner she is. He could see just how much the boys wanted to help this girl. He just hoped that Evie wouldn't try to get cocky like the boys tended to do.

A week passes as for the household while training Evie and restocking their own wares. Bobby taught her how to do research and what to look for that would be important. Dean taught Evie some of the basics on how to take care of a blade so it could stay nice and sharp with no Rust while helping Sam teach her some hand to hand. All in all, it was an eventful week.

That was until Bobby had found a case that seemed to be a good way to get Evie involved in her first official case with the boys. It was a suicide, but with an interesting twist. Within the last few weeks, there had been four deaths. That rose some alarms so the brothers packed up with Evie to go with them. They were in the Impala and on the road. Before they left Bobby gave the kiddo a journal to record anything that might help her on hunts. When she opened it, there was a dreamcatcher that looked homemade. It seemed to bring a calming peace to Evie's spirit.

It was going to be an eight-hour trip, which was good enough to get themselves through the drive and find a place to stay and a place to eat.

Evie smiled before thanking the older hunter for the gifts, giving him a wave as they drove off. She knew she'd probably wouldn't be out in the field with the brothers but it didn't bother her too much. She wasn't fully prepared for a fight yet.

"So what do you think it is?" She asked about two to three hours into the drive.

"Could be demons, but they usually send hellhounds to collect the soul." Sam replied, remembering how Dean had been mauled before him two years ago by a pack of hellhounds. He'd never be rid of that memory no matter how hard he wanted to forget.

"I doubt it's demons. They were suicides. We haven't come across a demon that has a kink like that. I say we wait to see what we find out. Then, we can start making assumptions. Once we get to Calumet City, we'll take the time to get a room and then maybe get something to eat." Dean explained, glancing between the two even with the help of the rear view, "I say in the mean time, use this time to look up what you can on this. See if there's a connection to any of the victims." Dean added, talking more toward Evie on this.

"Right." Evie replied with a nod. She just hoped she'd be able to identify something and not let the boys down. Then again she was still learning about her family business. She sighed softly before glancing out the window at the passing scenery.

Upon arriving at the city and getting a room, Evie assured them she'd be fine alone while they grabbed food. "I'll call Cas if I don't feel safe. Besides, you wanted me to look into this." She said.

"Fine. What do you want while we're out? If you don't choose quick, Sam gets to choose and you'll have to deal with what surprise he brings back." Dean tells her. He sure wasn't keen on letting her be in the motel by herself but if the wards do their job, she would be fine as long as Cas answers like he sure hopes he does. He also had come to learn to have some faith in teens when it comes to being by themselves and though he had gained this lesson from his short domestic lifestyle, his hunter/brother instincts were screaming at him to just stay with her and let Sam get their dinner. But this was a step that would show that she could at least handle herself without them for a short time. She was taught the protocol in such situations while at Bobby's. Better as any to be put to the test.

Though Dean was being quite serious about letting Sam choose her dinner if she didn't have a decision. She could figure out if he was kidding or not though.
