Operating on a chain of man-made islands located in the Eastern Indian Ocean, the Alexandria Foundation is a rival to North America's Bureau of Hyperhuman Enforcement, Logistics and Protection. While H.E.L.P. generally operates with international jurisdiction, the Alexandria Foundation's jurisdiction ranges from Africa to Europe and south through Oceania, covering most of the Western world outside of Asia. It should be noted that Asia has no division of Hyperhuman affairs and has received aid from both H.E.L.P. and the Foundation on different occasions. Despite having the same primary goals, the Alexandria Foundation often finds itself in conflict with the H.E.L.P.'s Department of Enforcement and Response as they compete over both cases and recruitment potentials.

Like their North American counterparts, the Alexandria Foundation runs an institute which is specifically for Hyperhuman students to allow them to study in an environment which encourages not only the use but also the improvement of control over their abilities. Their school, which is also simply referred to as the Alexandria Foundation, has become entered into a friendly competition with Pacific Royal Collegiate and University in recent years, giving both schools a more authentic experience. Where previously P.R.C.U. was unable to host sporting events, they now can compete with the Foundation throughout the year in a wide variety of sporting competitions including the students' favourite, Hyperball. Graduates on both sides have gone on to work for either H.E.L.P. or the Foundation.

However, the Foundation is not without a dark side. It is also believed that there is far more happening behind the school's doors than the enrichment of its students. H.E.L.P.'s intelligence division has found that the Alexandria Foundation is actually a preservation force looking for assets to benefit its countries of origin. It is believed that the Alexandria Foundation has actually been experimenting on Hyperhumans and is in fact trying to develop a new bioweapon in order to take down its rivals and assert world dominance.​

Every high school needs a John Bender, and Mather Memorial has theirs in the form of Robert James Scott. Born on the wrong side of the tracks, Robert, or RJ as he prefers to be called, was raised in the Beau by both his parents. Although in his father's case, he was raised more by a swift kick to the ass than he was any sort of nurturing words.

An outsider among Mather Memorial's various cliques, RJ was considered by a burnout early into his academic career. Often aloof and unmotivated in class, his teachers quickly lost their patience with him leading to RJ spending most of his academic hours outside of the classroom. When the principal eventually grew sick of seeing RJ outside his office, the developing boy was sent to the library where he could at least put in some man-hours. In actuality, RJ wasn't unmotivated, it was just that most concepts presented in traditional academics bored him because of how quickly he understood them. His less than stellar grades were a result of not having any passion for learning as he was rarely challenged. However, working in the library introduced RJ to a love of reading that he didn't know he had previously as he became lost in the works of Austen, Defoe, Shelley, Swift and numerous others.

At home, music was often RJ's escape from the screaming match in the living room. While books offered numerous exotic locales that weren't his stale smelling bedroom, music actually drowned his mother's screams and the crack of his father's belt. By the time he entered highschool, RJ had taken to carrying a walkman with him wherever he went and it was often his go to escape should he find himself in a situation or company he didn't enjoy. Though a recluse, RJ wasn't unfriendly and often found himself sticking up for the down trodden in the hallways of Mather Memorial. In fact a large part of RJ's unpopularity among his peers was due to refusing to bow down to the varcity teams, often leading to more than a few blows exchanged in the hallways of the secondary school.

Like Hercules or Samson, RJ's Hyperhuman ability manifests itself in a form of augmented strength that exceeds that of even an Olympic level strongman. Unlike either of the two legendary figures, however, RJ's strength doesn't come from physical muscles but rather a form of tactile telekinesis. RJ's superhuman strength is created by psionic energies which manifest a bioelectric field that surrounds his body. This field extends around whatever RJ touches and allows him to lift objects far beyond his physical capabilities. As the field extends around whatever RJ is touching, it also bolsters that object, at least while in contact with RJ, allowing him to grab a car by its fender without it shearing off from the rest of the car. This enhanced bioelectric field furthermore protects his body from harm, displacing force from blows and impact to greatly reduce their degree of harm or even completely negate it.

L I M I T A T I O N S || W E I G H T, S I Z E

Like the body itself, even the mind has limits. The larger the object, the more strain it puts on RJ and his mind. This correlates to both the weight and size of the object. To further explain, even if RJ were capable of handling the weight of a skyscraper, he couldn't expand his bioelectric field to envelop the building. At his maximum output, RJ is capable of hoisting an object of three thousand pounds above his head though not without strain. In the same vein, the largest object he could expand his field around is that of a station wagon.

W E A K N E S S E S || C O N S C I O U S N E S S, I N S U L A T O R S

As RJ's powers are psionic, they require his mind to be conscious and aware to perform his abilities at even an involuntary level. Due to this, when RJ is unconscious or even asleep, he's rendered completely human and is completely vulnerable in these states. Since RJ's powers are linked to both his mind and body's bioelectric field, instances that disrupt either of these can temporarily render RJ powerless. Insulators can reduce the range and effectiveness of RJ's abilities, even completely blocking them if he were subjected to wearing them.

Jennifer expresses rebellion in every way she can sink her claws into; her stubborn and bullheaded nature bleeds into her demeanor, walking around with a puffed chest and locked shoulders, a defiant frown plastered permanently across her face. Her long black hair, wild and unkempt, flows back and down her back, the most thought given to it a rough brushing every other day; it breaks a stark contrasting line across her ghost-pale skin. Her fashion sense further cements the image she seeks to cultivate: embedded in punk culture, she wears blacks with provocative slogans and imagery, chained jeans cuffed above heavy boots and always, always, a ragged leather jacket that is a wearable example of the Ship of Theseus, at this point more hap-hazard threading and safety pins than the original garment.

Character Synopsis

Jennifer was born Halloween '71 to Micheal and Barbara Vandermeyer. Micheal, her father, worked in a bank, and her mother made a good home for her husband and new daughter. The family diligently attended church every Sunday, and many other days besides, and had a simple, satisfactory life, if somewhat humdrum. Micheal was able to adequately provide any material needs, and Barbara wanted little besides; they were a simple couple, devout in their beliefs.

Jennifer first met Vanessa at 3 years old after the Vandermeyers moved to Crestwood following her father receiving a promotion, sent to the city to run the new branch the bank had just opened there. The Bordeaux's were their new neighbours, and little Jennifer was delighted to have a new friend so quickly after what little life she'd gotten a grip on had been so rapidly uprooted. Vanessa and Jennifer quickly became the firmest of friends in the way only growing little girls can manage, and their bond blossomed further as they entered education, being the two best friends either girl had had in their short lives thusfar.

As they grew, so did their parents; while the Bordeaux's were a well-respected family in Crestwood, Jennifer's parents picked up a reputation for being overly preachy and judgmental; while Jennifer herself had stopped attending church since she turned 10, her parents were still devout, perhaps even zealous believers at times, and in their deepening age relied more and more on their faith as a cornerstone of their values, and their daughter as the cornerstone of their future. Jennifer began to slowly realize her life was being planned and curated for her, and the seed of resentment found root in her core.

Jennifer turned to music, as did so many young girls and boys; the world around her was alive with all kinds of new sounds, but where Vanessa, her best friend, fell in love with Disco and the elating, motivating sounds found therein, Jennifer was drawn to the messy, defiant catharsis of the still-young Punk Rock movement. Punk reveled in sticking two fingers up and damn the consequences, a philosophy Jennifer adopted with frightening speed and ease; everything became about rebellion. Jennifer forged a new identity in punk: Vandermeyer no longer, she was Jenny Venom, and she used this persona to divorce herself from her family's reputation, and her parent's plans for her.

As Jennifer and Vanessa approached high school, they had drifted apart significantly; Jennifer had fallen in with her new spiky-haired, leather-wearing clique, and had derided Vanessa's love of Disco, spurning Vanessa's attempts to reconnect and rekindle the friendship. Vanessa kept herself graceful enough to never retaliate, allowing Jennifer the space to explore this new self she had constructed.

Vanessa's death shattered Jenny's world, despite the distance she had deliberately made between her and her once-closest friend. The tragedy cast into harsh light exactly what life is and can be, and what it means when it is taken away; but these revelations have only triggered a further retreat into the persona. Jennifer was a little girl, her life being lived for her, path forcibly laid out ahead of her, naive and foolish. Jenny Venom is fearless, and tough, and survives everything.

Hyper-Human Abilities

Jennifer's hype-gene has mutated specifically alongside her immune system and fight-or-flight response. When presented with physical trauma or sudden terror, before adrenaline floods her blood supply, a unique secondary 'hype-hormone' is secreted from her adrenal glands that blocks the receptors at her nerve endings, completely shutting down the nervous system pain response and instead replacing any incoming trauma signals with a direct signal to the endocrine system to produce further and further adrenaline. The mutated hype-adrenaline then bonds with her muscles and completely replaces the aerobic/anaerobic respiration function, eliminating lactic acid buildup and allowing indefinite function without exhaustion. Finally, the bonded 'hype-hormone' and adrenaline floods her skull cavity and passes through the pia mater into the blood vessels of the brain, and signals the activation of an extremely intense, subconscious form of auto-biokinesis, allowing her low-level brain functions to take over the immune system response and rewire muscles, organs, blood supply systems and bones on-the-fly to adapt to endure any and all incoming trauma without ceasing function.

Once trauma has ceased or has been escaped, the 'hype-hormone' stops signalling, and the mutated adrenaline floods the immune system entirely, expediting recovery of injury, the body drawing adrenaline from its various appendages and organs working from the bodily extremes inward in order to necessitate quickened recovery while allowing maximum up-time of the unconscious biokinesis to aid natural physical recovery, before the adrenaline is drawn from the meninges entirely and disseminated as the final healing 'booster'.

All these processes combined result in Jennifer being able to sustain intense physical trauma well above and beyond what would be typically fatal for a human, without feeling pain, losing motor or organ function, or slowing or shutting down - and then being able to recover from the trauma to full-functioning capacity at an increased rate after-the-fact.

HYPER HUMAN ABILITIES
Explosion Inducement: Through accelerating the molecules at a specified point, Joanie is able to cause explosions. Depending on the chosen target, the size of these explosions will vary; the bigger the target, the bigger and more dangerous the explosion.

There are several limitations to this ability, however. More time and effort is required to trigger a larger target, with Joanie becoming tired if she exerts herself too much. On top of this, Joanie isn't invulnerable to her explosions, meaning that it could be extremely dangerous for her if something were to go wrong. This is only heightened from the fact that it'll take time for Joanie to learn how to accurately target something to explode; A single touch while angry could be all that is takes to trigger one. Touching her target isn't exactly necessary, however it may take a lot of effort and training for her to trigger an explosion without it.

BACKSTORY
Growing up as one of the only Asian kids in her neighborhood within Crestwood Hollow, Joanie found herself an outsider for the entirety of her youth.

Joanie's father Steven had grown up in the Crestwood Hollow, before leaving for college in Norfolk. Given his thirst for knowledge, he flourished there, eventually joining the department of Psychology as a research fellow. That was where he met Magindara, Joanie's mother, who had recently emigrated from the Philippines; the two had gone to grab for the same book at the college's library. Seven months later the two had married, before settling down to Steven's hometown once Joanie's mother had fallen pregnant.

Joanie didn't have many friends as she made her way through school, with her becoming quiet and reserved as a kid in an effort to avoid being the subject of the school bullies. Despite this, jeers and insults still found their way to her. This, in collaboration with the regular teenage hormones, led to the girl growing a bold and sarcastic personality as she bit back, commonly mocking and insulting her peers in retaliation. Despite it often leading to her finding herself receiving a talking to from both her teachers and her parents, Joanie had decided that the best way to solve her problems was to simply push back.

As Sophmore year began, this behaviour only escalated. That was until one of Joanie's classmates stepped in during one particular standoff within the corridors of Mather Memorial High. Joanie hadn't spoken to Vanessa Bordeaux much until that point, she operated in a greater social cloud than she after all, however, the two found themselves drifting together; Stolen glances from across the class. Occasional small talk in the halls. The brush of her hand as she passed Joanie handouts in class. Bonding over a shared interest in the latest Margaret Atwood novel in the town's bookshop. It probably wasn't anything significant to Vanessa, but Joanie found a newfound fire burning deeply within her whenever she laid eyes on the girl. She never dared act on these feelings though. She could only imagine what her peers would think if they discovered how she felt.

One of the popular girls at Mather Memorial, Erica Northridge, held a house party a few months into the school year. Joanie told people the only reason she went was for the free booze, but really it was because Vanessa had mentioned going. As the night drew to a close, the two teenagers found themselves sat together alone in the house's laundry room, continuing conversation that they had had in the bookstore weeks prior. Joanie didn't know if it was because of the liquid courage she'd been drinking or just the particular way that Vanessa had styled her hair that night, but she soon found herself kissing her. Awkwardly trying to laugh off what had happened, Joanie ran before Vanessa could even respond.

The following week Joanie avoided both her gaze and all other attempts that Vanessa made to talk to her. She didn't want to confront what had happened. She didn't want to lose what had been the happiest months of her life. Then, just as she had built up the courage to finally confront her, Joanie found her heart shatter as Vanessa's death was announced during morning announcements.

OTHER SKILLS
  • Music: Joanie was enrolled in piano lessons for the majority of her time during elementary school, before eventually quitting upon reaching middle school. To appease her mother, however, she kept up her musical talents to an extent by learning to play bass.
  • Intelligent: She has demonstrated a high aptitude for English literature, history, and philosophy, among other subjects. In recent years she's become enthralled in feminist literature.

RELATIONSHIP TO VANESSA
While sharing classes for a large part of their lives, the two hadn't interacted much until Sophmore year where Joanie found herself quickly falling for Vanessa after an incident. They grew somewhat close, with Joanie kissing Vanessa at a party a week before her death.

When Simone transferred to Mathers Memorial High, Vanessa was assigned to be her school buddy. Effectively, Vanessa was supposed to be a walking resource guide for Simone to help her transition into a new school. A new school where she was one of a handful of other minorities. About a dozen of them black. Simone had no expectations when she first met Vanessa. From the tail end of her time in Louisiana, she was wary of one-on-one time with white people. Her aunt that she was staying with told her the North was different from the South in some ways, and these were one of them.

Where Vanessa was friendly, Simone was glacial at first. But there’s something about how the “othered” in society seem to congregate. It’s auspicious and fortuitous, yet only noticeable in hindsight. Though Simone didn’t explicitly know about Vanessa’s “condition,” she was able to feel the solidarity from someone who’s also felt their body on display—their personhood and humanity reduced to fears, misinformation and prejudice. Simone just assumed she was queer and accepted the burgeoning honesty before her, as they began interacting more.
It was in that act of acceptance that Simone began to find a great friend and confidant. She and Vanessa began spending more time together outside of school, but always in the construction district or somewhere equally abandoned where Simone could do her runs.

Simone’s hype-gene allows her to manipulate and condense her psychic energy to manifest physical entities on this plane. When manifested fully, they are materialized beings that can interact with (carry, push, throw, break, etc.) objects and people, as well as relay sensory/mental information back to Simone. The manifestations can move based on mental commands given to them by Simone.

Along with being tangible to the physical world, her projections are also visible to the naked eye. The projections and formations most often look like hard light with a purple aura about them.

Simone’s most notable (and so far, only) projection is a 7-foot, humanoid projection. Or, more aptly, a manifestation of a shared childhood imaginary friend between her and Miles—Fitz.

L I M I T A T I O N S || M A N I F E S T A T I O N, C O M M A N D, T I M E

Manifestation: Simone is limited in only generating Fitz. And even then, fully generating Fitz would take an enormous mental toll on Simone. The required psychic energy and manipulation to maintain such a form requires strength and finesse from Simone’ brain that would leave her brain dead at this point.
Simone will also be unable to generate full-Fitz at a smaller size. This stems from the wealth of emotion tied to Fitz and Miles over the course of her life. Simone’s emotions act as a catalyst/bonding agent to his psionic abilities. And currently, Simone is not skilled enough to filter or limit how much of that is sunk into his manifestation, preventing the construct from being condensed physically. It’s like an all-or-nothing principle in terms of his size.

Simone’s limitation in generating only Fitz right now is due to the fact that she’s familiar with Fitz. Simone shares a strong mental connection and impression with the imaginary friend, resulting in “psychic mapping” of Fitz on a subconscious level. The more familiar Simone is—not just factually but emotionally— with what she’s projecting, the stronger it manifests.

In the early phases of her ability development, in lieu of bringing forth a fully formed Fitz each time, Simone is projecting pieces of Fitz. Put simply, Simone uses her psionic abilities to manifest portions of Fitz’s body for different uses. (I.E. Fitz’s fist to throw a punch or bring an object out of reach; Fitz’s arm to block an incoming attack; Fitz’s ear to hear a conversation farther away.)

Command: Simone will only be able to control Fitz within a 30-foot radius. A fully formed Fitz doesn’t have to be in her line of sight to continue existing. However, in these early stages, if Simone wants to know what Fitz is up against and wants to obtain sensory information, it requires Simone closing her eyes and concentrating, leaving her vulnerable.

Simone can command manifested body parts within a 45-foot radius and they can leave her line of sight. However, once they leave her line of sight, even if she concentrates—unless the body part manifested is a sensory object (eyes or ears for now), she won’t get more than general information about its surroundings. So, say she sends a projected hand around the corner, she won’t be able to see through it because she perceives the hand only as a hand. She’s not familiar with the hand in terms of gaining information outside of tactile signals.

Time: Simone cannot manifest any psionic energies indefinitely. In fight-or-flight, survival mode, she can keep a full Fitz active for 12 minutes fully idle, 9 minutes simply walking around/doing menial tasks, and 4 minutes doing vigorous activity.

With normal concentration at her early stages, Simone can keep body parts active for about 5-10 minutes, depending on the complexity of their actions, total. If she goes past that time limit, she’ll find himself suffering migraines and nausea.

Concentration: It probably goes without saying that Simone needs to concentrate a bit to bring her manifestations forth. Though they don’t take all of her concentration after being formed, any significant break in her concentration will cause them to dissipate. So while she could probably take holding a conversation or even being hit by a punch head-on, sucker punches/strikes and surprise attacks or sharp pains easily break her concentration.
By extension, abrupt or sharp loud sounds not only cause her to let go of her projections, but they can also render her incapable of forming projections for a little while after. Alarms, unsuspecting train horns and the like can even put her out of commission for a short while.
