"A dagger has only a single point, but a traitor cuts from anywhere"
PLOT
The kingdom of Ovyadell used to be a sprawling, elven kingdom. Its lands had been rich and fertile, the skies a beautiful azure blue, the sea that ran alongside the kingdom calm and placid. Then the sea grew dark and cold; its gentle waves grew rough and harsh winds blew in from the open waters. The elves moved inland, nearer to the borders, where Ovyadell still held some of its beauty, and left Ironkeep and all surrounding cities to the race of men.
The great kings and queens of men moved built Eastormel Castle on the outskirts of Ironkeep. Its sturdy stone walls stand unyielding against the winds and rains of the Ashen Sea. It was thought to be impenetrable. It was impenetrable for many years, until the reign of King Silas. A thief had somehow managed to slip unnoticed through the ancient halls, and when their boldness grew, they stole the Dark Dagger.
Enraged, the King offered a job, a reward for any who would be willing to find the Dark Dagger and return it to him. On the day of the meeting, he had his guards open the castle gates and allow any and all inside who wished to test their luck. All that was left was for someone to find the dagger.
SETTING
Ovyadell
Ovyadell, once home to the elves, is situated against the Ashen Sea. Before the waters turned harsh, it was a beautiful kingdom: Fields of green grasses and colorful wildflowers that stretched for miles, ancient forests whose boughs and branches creaked and swayed in the breeze. After, however, it became a cold place. Rain always pours and brutal winds always batter the land. The elves left it to the race of men, choosing to move farther inland to escape the sea's wrath.
Ironkeep
Ironkeep is the capital of Ovyadell and is situated closest to the Ashen Sea. Because of this, it receives the worst of the rains and winds. Its people, however, are resilient and manage to carve out a life for themselves.
Eastormel Castle
Eastormel Castle was built after the elves had left the area that was later renamed Ironkeep. Years of harsh winds and rains have worn away at the stone, yet it still stands proud. Its western walls overlook the Ashen Sea.
The Underground
The Underground lies just outside Ovyadell's borders. Though it belongs to no one, everyone is in silent agreement that the lands fall under Ovyadell's rule. It is a stretch of barren wasteland that is home to the scum of the earth. Murderers, bandits, and thieves alike use it as a place of rest and to fence their stolen goods.
CHARACTERS
Races
There are a variety of different races in Ovyadell, though elves and humans are the most common. If there is not one you prefer in the list of examples, feel free to PM or ask in the OOC. (Keep in mind that this is a dark fantasy, so you can let your imagination run wild).
History: Callista was born in an elven enclave of Ironkeep, to an elven father and human mother. Her parents are quiet folk that live happily as simple grocers, but Callista was always easily bored and spent her early life with the local gang of troublemakers, a bunch that called themselves the Red Ravens. They mainly busied themselves with petty theft and vandalism, but as they grew older they began aiming higher, pushing the boundaries with bigger thefts and the occasional mugging.
Callista herself had little taste for violence, preferring to rely on her skill and wit; it was for that reason that she is the only member of their group that avoided imprisonment or worse. Instead, she put her skills to work as a con artist and cat burglar, managing to line her pockets with her victims none the wiser until it was too late.
When the King's Bounty was announced, Callista felt a thrill run through her. Here was a job that would test anyone, and it was perfectly legal! Even better, it would pit her against the thief who'd managed the most impressive heist she'd ever heard of. If she could outmatch them... Well, now it was a matter of pride. She gathered her tools, secreted them away in her outfit, and strode confidently through the castle gates.
Other: Callista is the kind of thief that values charisma slightly more than skill. If there's a chance to talk her way past an obstacle, that's where she shines.
History: Ernestus was brought up in an orphanage, in a small village, a fair journey from Ironkeep. He was usually a quiet but kind boy. The orphanage itself was not the best, but it was a modest home regardless. Ernestus eventually began volunteering at the local chapel and help the village shop with minor chores, just to keep himself busy. After some time, it became clear that he had an affinity with magic, and soon decided to leave his village to hone this newfound skill.
With the advice from the local chapel, he went to train at a monastery 2 days ride from the village. And with some time and trials, he became efficient with light & healing magics. Upon his return home, he was attacked by a werewolf which he tried to outrun and hide from, but was eventually caught and wounded by the creature. With a final attempt to defend himself, he drew his dagger that he kept on his person for safety, and dug the blade deep into the creatures throat, over and over until the creature stopped moving. After resting from the incident he hurried himself home as soon as he could, only to find that his home had been taken over by marauders. Bodies of those he knew strewn about the place, some placed as threats and others just left to rot. Falling to his knees, his body heavy with exhaustion, and the pain from his wound throbbing more so, he was at a loss. It was rare that he felt anger, but this was something beyond that, and as he rose from his knees, he realised with his anger, his body began to change almost immediately. He cared not for his own being, and used this new form to shred and tear the marauders apart. They were caught completely unawares and had no chance to retaliate. Soon after, he took it upon himself to bury the people of his village himself. It took the entire day finish, and once done, he found his purpose, and that purpose was to aid and defend the vulnerable, for he could not bare to let others share the same fate. And with that in mind, he gathered some equipment from what remained of the marauders and left the ruins behind to begin his new life. A year later, he trained with the blade and managed to master his magics in turn. He soon learnt of the theft in Ironkeep and thought to investigate.
Other: Ernestus respects those who show compassion and honesty. His anger can lead to his lycanthrope transformation if its pushed far enough.
@geminironin@Borosev I've read through your characters and they're good! Once we get enough people, I'll get the first post up in the IC. If you haven't already and you want to, check out the discord. I'll try and post announcements there and in OOC (if I remember).
Name: Elra Silverfang Sex: Female Age: 55 Race: Elf (Lythari) History: Elra was captured by human rangers and brought down by trappers. A magic arrow then a collar was placed preventing her from changing forms. In a small cage she recovered being fed scraps and being shown at fairs. Finally, she was sold to a wizard as a pet who hoped to make her a familiar. In his care, the collar was removed and she changed back to her Elven form. She spent years with her human master, learning of magic. Though she could read some of the Elven texts, he could not. She did not dare impart all of the knowledge he had collected. She paid cruelly to keep those secrets from him. Fire destroyed his home and she was free, her Master was dead before the fire started. But the dark magic and forbidden spells he collected went up in flames. In need of money and more for the protection from her Master’s followers, she headed to the castle to help with the quest and truly regain her freedom. He had spread stories that she ate children and would change them into demons.
Other: Lythanri are like wolves, they try to avoid fights unless cornered, trapped or to protect people she cares about. Elra has a hatred of slaver, cages, and chains.
In wolf form, she can track and see in near dark, but can use much of her magic.
I am picturing her magic as being illusions, enchantment, and a little necromantic (which makes her sick to use).

Just an afterthought: What do you guys think of a posting order? It might not have to be strict as I know sometimes life gets in the way and you can't always post as soon as possible. But maybe just a rule like 'no double posting' or waiting for at least two other people to post before posting yourself? I just want to give everyone ample opportunity to post something before I move on. Of course, I'll try to check in and see if you need more time if so long has passed.
Sorry it took me so long to get the next post up and for the lack of quality. Things have just been a bit busy here, and I've only now gotten a chance to really sit down and write it.
