hey what's good it's me, stone, here to try and bring activity to the roleplaying disc. subforum

Personally, I really just wanna see more technofantasy stuff. I want dragons but also guns but also swords and magic and steam engines and shit bro. Like steampunk but with magic!!

I do think sci-fi as a genre is relatively small compared to the other types we see on the guild tho

Cool concept! I guess Netflix's Bright sorta came close, eh?

I would love more straight up horror. It's hard to write a Horror RP successfully when you don't control all the variables (players), but I would love to engage in an RP that just had triggers and revelations that were completely terrifying, surprising and disturbing.

Yeah, I think with the amount of agency people have in RP it'd be difficult to control all the variables like you can in a movie or maybe a TTRPG. I do wanna see if anyone's ever done a successful horror RP before lol

Certain historical settings. It's usually always Victorian, Medieval, age of piracy, or various ancient settings. I'd love to see more exploration of other eras.

I don't think I've seen a lot of tribal fantasy or something similar, if there's a proper name to it. People with spears and a strong connection to the land and the gods that rule it and the air and sea and the magic they draw from them.

Disaster survival? A tunnel with a bus full of criminals and a family and a dog and an unassuming taxi driver all get trapped in a tunnel when both ends collapse and they must find a way to escape as it slowly fills with water from the river above. First come first serve. GM plays a bracelet.

Aviation themed RPG's are few and far between. I've tried to run a few, and a couple of others have come up, but they always die out really quickly. I'm desperately eager for more Ace-Combat-style games, which blend some sci-fi, larger than life elements into a somewhat military setting.

Definitely agree with the sentiment about sci-fi themed RPGs as well. Especially space-opera style sci-fi. There's a smattering of post-apocalypse games and cyberpunk games - most likely due to the impending release of the video game - but honest-to-goodness space opera, either hard-SF or more Trek/Mass Effect/Halo/Star Wars/Battlestar Galactica style SF doesn't really come up as much. Probably because it requires a fair amount of world-building.
