The Start of Lieutenant Paul Lyons and Captain Jason Hiyan's story...Cosmic Era Alternate 1

=========================

____________________________________

Hitting the Signal and being Stranded...

As the Sundown approached the signal point two days later after they launched everything seemed fine. However they lost communications with Earth about an hour ago and were now on their own as far as they were concerned. There were no mysterious mobile suits or anything remotely suspicious however there were unknown communication lines surrounding it they were faint and unrecognizable but Jason was sure there was more to this place than meets the eye. SIGMA squad was convinced to enter into daggers meant for space flight instead of their Murasames who could not act properly in deep space yet. OMEGA squad, also set out as Paul got into his uniform and helmet. He walked into the meeting room and discussed the battle plans with SIGMA his wing men from OMEGA. They agreed, after some arguments, to go in slow and if any hostiles are there they are to be taken out. As the men launched in their Daggers, after rushing to the hanger, Paul entered his core splendor and put his helmet's face shield down and sealed it there. He turned on the Gundam and waited for the controls to become operation before launching. "This is Lieutenant Paul Lyons OMNI Enforcer launching in Raigo Gundam..." Paul said casually as the unit was cleared for launch by the captain's right hand girl Katherine Williams. However Jason himself contacted him after launching, "This is Jason, you and your men are clear to investigate the anomaly permission to kill granted if needed. Don't engage unless need be. Sundown out." Jason said as he sat back down on his chair. Paul went further ahead to investigate this strange occurrence and noticed his systems got a bit clunky as he approached it suddenly however one of his pilots complained about a head ache and SIGMA 3 told him to shut it and keep it clean. However soon after the dots on the radar vanished and before Paul understood what happened he was blacking out his last thought was of what was happening and of Sundown...

Later....

Paul woke up suddenly like he just got hit on the side of the head or had drunk to much like a sailor of old. He felt woozy and not in control of himself he looked around and remembered he was in Raigo gundam...however something seemed odd....He panicked for a moment and looked on his radar and noticed he was no longer in space after checking his main camera...everything was intact nothing was different...The Sundown itself was....landed nearby completely unharmed...What was going on here. He was in the middle of a military base on the top eastern side of the area. North east was a gigantic citadel...Where in the name of god was he at? He pushed the communications button to call Captain Hiyan. "This is Paul come in Sundown are you ok? I repeat: This is Paul come in Sundown are you ok?"

Jason woke up to the sound of Paul's voice calling out in a calm but slightly intense state as he inspected the cabin his crew was all unconscious he went over to the coms officer's chair and woke him up. Jason told him to go and tell everyone to wake up immediately. Paul's call came again and this time he was responded to. "This is Sundown please calm yourself my friend. "What is our situation?" We appear to be a fortress or citadel of some sort resembling ancient Japan." Jason said to Paul as he thought to himself Well then it seems we are also cut off from all OMNI forces and we're stranded somewhere as well...what is happening here? he said as he sat down and his crew started to wake up. Raigo gundam was now on its feet looking around.

AW 0015
Ruins of London
921 hours.
"Point A is clear, Send in the scavengers." Gabriel reported after scouting an old section of London his people had yet to search. It was a foggy day, but his scanners didn't pick up anything out of the ordinary and the area had been clear of bandits for about a month now, so Gabriel didn't have any significant worries. "Rodger that X, moving to Point A now, head to Point B and we will catch up soon." One of the Scavengers, Alfred by the voice, replied to Gabriel. "Copy that moving to Point B, find us something useful these old ruins are still depressing and I would like to spend a few days out of them.," Gabriel replied before sighing, "God I hate that nickname, X.... Just because I use a GX doesn't mean I need to be reminded...." He said to himself knowing the comn was off, and even if it wasn't it was something they hadn't heard before. But with the all clear Gabriel moved forward deeper into the ruins toward the second Scavenge point for the day.

Everything was playing out just like a regular day, useful materials were being salvaged to help the community, The bandits seemed to be chased out of the area for now, and if things kept on going as they were, Gabriel would be able to call it quits soon. But just as he made it half way to Point B a distress signal appeared on his radar. "Hey Salvage team heads up, I just picked up a distress beacon up north. I am going to go check it out, Keep an eye out." He relayed back to the scavenge team before redirecting his course to investigate the beacon. Gabriel didn't even register a response before things started to get fuzzy and he blacked out.

----
Unknown Location
Some time later

Gabriel awoke with a jump still inside his GX "What happened to me?" he asked out loud knowing no response would come. After shaking off the last remaining bits of drowsiness Gabriel's head started to clear up. It was then that he felt the presence of another Newtype somewhere near by. "Now that isn't good, I don't know of any Newtypes anywhere nearby us..." He continued talking to himself as he started to run a diagnostic check on his G-X. With everything still showing a green Gabriel readied himself before heading in the direction of the other Newtype. On the way it became obvious he wasn't in England anymore the buildings looked Japanese not English, and more even more surprising everything looked to intact to be from the Earth Gabriel knew. As he moved he didn't know weather of not to try and conceal his movements, eventually deciding to forgo it go in peacefully, but be ready to fight if needed. He had run into many more scavengers than bandits recently so odds were in his favor.

As he moved into what seemed to be a fortress Gabriel saw more strange things, A mobile suit design that he had never seen before, and some sort of flying fortress also very unfamiliar. As he approached weapons holstered Gabriel sent out an open comn line. "Hail over there, Could you possibly help a fellow out? I seem to be a bit lost." He said while moving forward. his hands gripping the controls of his suit in anticipation constantly surveying for something to go wrong.

Matt threw the RGZ-91 through another series of tight manoeuvers. Full throttle on all thrusters from the backpack, before abruptly flipping orientation and braking. He spun on the spot using AMBAC maneuvering, the suits' sensors easily locking onto the nearest stationary target and ripping off a burst of fire from the Re-GZ's head vulcans, tracers drawing vibrant lines through the darkness of space. A flick of the controls threw the mobile suit's left arm out and blasted off a pair of rocket-propelled grenades into another target, before he blasted away into a weaving, high-speed pattern of moves, rinsing the mobile suits' flight computers through a demanding routine.
"That looks good, Matt," the voice of the flight controller came through the speakers in his normal suits' helmet. "Telemetry from the latest set of manoeuvers looks good; tightening up the response time from the vernier thrusters in the right leg seems like it was a good call. You can head on back now".
"Roger that, control," he replied as he throttled back, letting the suit drift with its' momentum, spinning to face the distant gleam that marked the control ship. "I'm returning-" he cut off as a warbling chirp from the Re-GZ's sensors interrupted him. The machine had picked up something unusual, some kind of electromagnetic disturbance that was growing in intensity.
"Control, I'm picking up some unusual interference, some kind of signal. I'm moving to investigate, over"
The reply was muted and choppy with static, and he pressed one gloved hand to the side of his helmet with a frown, trying to pick out words as he spun to face the direction of the interference as it grew closer. He fed a little thrust into the RGX-91's engines and moved closer. At once, the suits' warnings sounded, warbling alerts flashing up. At the same instant, pressure grew in his head, a throbbing headache building from behind his eyes and pounding against his skull. His vision swam and he physically reeled, shuddering in his seat. Shimmering double vision clouded his sight and the speakers of his helmet blasted static, the displays of the suit throwing our alert after alert, as the pressure in his skull grew to a roaring pounding... and then blackness washed over him as a relief.

Some Time Later, Somewhere Else...

Consciousness returned with a jolt, and a brief shout of some unremembered dream or memory. Matt gasped in air, through the now-open shield of his helmet. The cockpit of the Re-GZ hummed comofortably around him, with no trace of the earlier signal. He rubbed one hand across his face, chasing away the last bits of drowsiness and disorientation before he turned his attention to the Re-GZ. The mobile suits' displays showed that he was no longer in space, something that he couldn't account for. He didn't recognise his surroundings either. In the distance, a tall building that looked Chinese or Japanese in origin rose, and closer by were what looked like the functional, drab shapes of military buildings and structures. More interesting still were the two mobile suits and a ship of some kind that showed up on the suits' sensors. None of them matched anything familiar enough to make an identification, but there was nothing else around to make contact with, no signs of any known frequencies or signals. With no signs of other life, Matt made the decision to head toward the other mobile suits.

The DSSR a neutral civilian research group dedicated to exploring the outer reaches of the stars. In one of their facilities they were working on a revolutionary new machine that would allow them to reach the stars outside the horizon, though it would appear this project would take an unexpected turn.

“Lieutenant, What is going on!? Why have you started your machine before the appointed time? What happened to your team!?”

Peace was disrupted as alarms blared out throughout the facility, and a black and white war machine threw off the cloth meant to conceal it’s form, before taking off into the void of space at blazing speeds from the furthest hanger where it was concealed.

“Lieutenant, I repeat status report, why have the alarms been raised and what happened to your team!?”

Within the cockpit of the mobile suit the coms would once again blazed to life as it repeated the same questions, only this time it was answered back by the mobile suit’s pilot.

“Oh, you see Captain, I killed them-“ “What!” The Captain interrupted in shock, but the pilot kept talking. “I have killed my entire team, I have also taken the mission objective, though I have decided not to hand it over.”

The DSSR sent out it’s own machines while the pilot was addressing his Captain. Their intent was to retrieve the “mission objective” the pilot had stolen as such they could not fire a single shot at the speeding Mobile Suit, which meant that they had no chance of catching the white and black mobile suit, especially with the head start it had on them.

“Lieutenant Arkwright, I’m going to ask, What. The. Hell. Are. You. Doing?” The Captain asked in disbelief and barely contained rage.

“Captain Maza, I’ll share with you a few words I wanted to say over these past few months, I believe it goes like this: fuck you, fuck Phantom Pain, fuck Blue Cosmos, fuck your all ideals and everything you all stand for. I am resigning my position.”

“I see... I hope you enjoy your short retirement, Benedict.” The grey haired Captain stated with a neutral expression and venom in his voice, before the line went blank.

In the period that the exchange took place, Benedict had flown far enough out that it would have been risky for the DSSR’s Astrays to follow. With this he allowed his Mobile Suit to stop and and used it’s wire to anchor onto a piece of space debris to conserve energy. He looked over his equipment. He had two beam sabers, two short range beam rifles, one long range beam rifle, one grenade, a couple of wire anchors, and a shield. Not much when he was up against the Estrella Newby, a Girty Lue class ship, it held a considerable amount of Mobile Suits, though it’s biggest danger was that it held 5 Gundam Units as Blue Cosmos was trying to secretly realize the old Archangel plan, with this mission meant to be a trial run.

Out of the five units he would be guaranteed to deal with two, the Verde Buster and Blu Duel, as their pilots were not among the operatives assigned with infiltrating the DSSR and were part of the ship’s crew with the duty to guard the ship. The Nero Blitz had several technical difficulties which left it out of commission for the past few days and with both it’s pilot and the intended pilot of the Rosso Aegis, Fredrick Hughes being poisoned, the former would likely not be able to join the battle and the later would have a less experienced pilot behind it’s wheel. Though that still meant Three Gundams, a squad of Slaughter Daggers, and an entire warship vs his own Mobile Suit, the final Gundam, the Strike E.

Benedict pulled out his employee card from the DSSR, he had signed up under the name of Albert Simons, an alias, though he was fond of the alias more than his own name. The operative opened his Mobile Suit’s hatch before tossing the card out into space and then closing the hatch back up. After this battle it would likely be the only thing remaining of him, as he didn’t intend to leave a body and if Phantom Pain decided to try and take him alive he would self detonate his suit. This would be how it ended, Benedict always new that, though he didn’t expect to be in this situation for a bunch of Coordinators and their coworkers, he also didn’t expect for Blue Cosmos to go after a civilian made AI.

The traitor also took out a data drive in it was the AI that DSSR had developed. He could guess it was for some kind of weapons development, it must have been quite valuable to them if they wanted to monopolize the AI by stealing from the DSSR rather than trying to use alternative methods such as offering to buy a copy of the AI. Though he could be overthinking things. After all he reveled in taking the bloodier plan. Benedict took a look at the clock. He estimated that he had about five minutes before Captain Maza and his ship arrived.

“Sorry guys it look like I won’t be joining you all for drinks.”

The spy readjusted his Mobile Suit’s shield, he decided to hide among the debris and try and ambush his enemy turned friends before firing his grenade into the ship’s gas tanks. He wasn’t expecting to survive, but he was going to go down swinging. Benedict readied his beam rifle as the ship came into view and started to deploy it’s Mobile Suits. Benedict even when facing almost certain death was still serene. He detached his anchor... and then a flash of lightning ran through his skull as a headache suddenly ran throughout his head.

“What’s?” Benedict fought to stay awake, but to no avail...

Sometime later...

Benedict woke up sometime later, he heavier than before, almost as if he was back on earth... Took a look outside and he realized that he was transported back on the surface of a planet. His hand immediately went to where he had stored the data disk. He didn’t know where or how, but he knew he had to take shelter. He looked around as and spotted a tower in the distance, it would provide cover and a vantage point, Benedict moved his machine towards the tower, though as he was doing so, he felt lightning flash through his mind, his “intuition” he called it. He had a feeling that he was being followed which put him on further guard than before, Benedict made an even greater effort of leaving a trace.

As the Spy piloted his machine towards the tower, he made sure he kept an eye out on his radar. He mostly stayed low to the ground though on occasion when the terrain could cover something taller than his suit, he took a stop and scouted his surroundings from a vantage point using the Strike’s thrusters and his wires. It was in one of these scouting he saw an Earth Alliance Mobile Suit and after that when he got closer, he spotted an Archangel class ship, though this one didn’t match with any he was aware of. While he didn’t expect his defection to be widely spread, he wasn’t the kind of person to throw caution to the wind. He kept his distance from the suit and watched as a Gundam unit with a L shaped backpack, which he never seen before come in contact with the EA Gundam. He would wait and see how the EA units would react to this new Gundam before deciding to take action, to give him a better idea of what he was dealing with.

"Heads up incoming multiple unknown signatures...and an OMNI one as well?" Jason says looking to his radar handlers for confirmation the men do indeed confirm that multiple Mobile suits were in coming. He prepares the man cannons as Paul looks to the incoming enemy pilot who approaches him he holds up his rifle and shield in a defensive stance. His head feeling strange as if he felt the incoming targets coming closer instinctively. It hurt a bit but he didn't let that stress him out he was combat tested after all. He raises his rifle towards...a gundam? As he sees it approach and signal him. "Who are you? I'm an OMNI Officer; Black Star is my code name. What kind of mobile suit is that?! Is that a gundam? I've never seen a design like that?" Paul asks him as he looks towards the stranger (Gabriel). "Are you ZAFT, or are you OMNI? Or some third party?" Paul's words are calm and simple once he starts to get his wits more about him. He looks around hoping SIGMA, and Beta are nearby.

Jason's men look on their scanners before finally getting a notice on radar and noted that they were missing OMEGA Team but Beta and SIGMA were nearby. "This is Jason we're fine but we won't be able to move to your location we're on a field just east of your location. Just make sure you gather the teams together Lieutenant. For now I'll work on getting this battleship of ours operational and then we will find Omega Team. I know how much of a boon they can be to us and we will need all our men to make sure our ship gets out of here." Jason stated plainly. "This is Beta leader I'm at some sort of base nearby and I have no idea what the hell is going on...we're missing some people! Captain orders sir?" Beta leader asked as Paul looked about with his gundam. "Form on the Lieutenant top center field by the large citadel!" Jason said over his communicator.

Things went just about how Gabriel had expected. the Mobile suit he had been approaching immediately went on the defensive. But thankfully instead of moving strait to shooting the pilot started asking questions. The bad thing was these questions didn't make sense the organizations of ZAFT and OMNI were new to Gabriel, and who didn't know what a GX was, they weren't exactly top secret anymore. But at least the pilot kind of introduced himself.

"The name's Gabriel, Some of my contacts call me X. Never heard of either OMNI or ZAFT before. Currently I guess you could say I'm affiliated with the Scavengers running out of London, my current contract is with a group called the "Purple Rhinos"... And before you say anything yeah its a stupid name, but I guess the guy let his kid pick the name so what can you do. Before being a scavenger I was an Officer in the UNE before it was disbanded. This suit is indeed a "Gundam" it is the Gundam X, A good machine. Now Mr. Black Star I don't mean you or your people any harm, I'm just a little lost and a bit on the confused side so how about your not point your weapons at me and I won't draw mine against you. We have a deal?" Gabriel answered the questions he was asked He had questions of his own, but that would have to wait for now. But there was one question he did want to ask. "Just so I know if I can let my guard down a bit, is that other Newtype over there one of yours? or are we being watched by a third party?" Gabriel asked and had his suit point in the general direction of Benedict. For the moment Gabriel still had not drawn his weapon, but he was more than ready to if the need arose.

Paul was confused had this man hit his head or something? There was no way he was serious but....was he? "I'm not sure if I believe you. There's only a handful of places gundams could come from. The Earth Federation, and the ZAFT Plants Union. The new generation of Earth's OMNI Gundams don't roll out until about a year from now and if what you're saying is true your a scavenger? But how? Junker guilds shouldn't have access to high tech like that machine of yours."

"However I feel....I feel confusion coming from you? I see you're like me I believe the scientists are phrasing the term Newtype now for people like us so if you're in the know about it that means you've got something working for you. Whatever I'll assume the UNE come from some sort of splinter group for now. But no I don't know whoever it is over there. Radar scan is picking it up, and I got the-"
Paul stated before being interrupted rudely by BETA leader and SIGMA Teams members as they arrived from the western entrance that appeared to be of the only exits nearby. "Lieutenant sir we-What the blue bloody balls is that a....a gundam!? Sir that thing has to be a ZAFT make!" Beta Leader proclaimed as SIGMA team's sniper told him that they were missing their number 4 and 2.

Paul sighed as he wondered why the hell they had to appear just now..."No Beta Leader stand down. I don't need to get into an unneeded gun fight and if this guy was one of our captors he'd be stupid to try and kill us with the numbers on our side. Let's talk for now. Captain is the ship back in progress?" Paul asked as Communications Officer Williams replied to him but only somewhat because it was clear she was tired from just waking up, "Yes lieutenant but...it will take awhile for us to get weapons online to let you know." Williams replied as she looked around the bridge. Axel and Calhoun were just waking up now and were starting up the systems which had mysteriously powered down. Also it seemed that an extra crew member had arrived to take the place of Coms Officer Downey. The pink haired woman had identified herself as Cathy Baker but she looked familiar somehow.

Maybe she was an old student at the academy from back in his early OMNI days like he was. Meanwhile Paul turned back his attention to the 'scavenger', "I apologize for the insistence but it seems I must ask you to join us on our ship. My Captain is most likely going to want to talk to you however if you want to leave I'd like it if you did so quick. Before you ask no I just woke up in the middle of this god forsaken field only just now. I don't know anything about this place myself. If you're telling the truth, which is a bit of a stretch, it seems that we both fell victim to whatever brought us here." Paul stated rather bluntly. "And you over there! Next time maybe you shouldn't be moving with an OMNI code still active on your mobile suit."

“Well if I wanted my allies to find me, I would keep it active.” Benedict stated as he was forced to move out of the shadows, of course his statement was completely true except it was more for luring our allies turned enemy rather than just normal allies and afterwards, he really didn’t give a damn. “Besides if I tried to come close without identifying myself as OMNI, you and your team probably would have started shooting at me, wouldn’t you? That wouldn’t have been very pretty.”

Benedict looked upon the other Gundam pilots. He has never seen both units before, though he has heard of the one using a striker pack, the Raigo a prototype based off his own Strike E. Though last time he checked the Raigo was still in testing phase and shouldn’t be in a place like this, as a matter of fact, looking at the Raigo, it seemed that it was in combat use for a significant amount of time. There was something strange, but he needed a few more pieces to put it all together.

“My name is Richard Walker, I’m a mercenary hired by OMNI. Please call me Richie.” Benedict gave a polite hello to Paul, before introducing himself with an alias and a cover story which would explain how he legally obtained a OMNI Mobile Suit, something that was natural to him, to the point that his lies were indistinguishable from when he told the truth. “But, if you don’t what to get friendly with one of OMNI’s disposable for hires, that’s understandable.” Benedict Now Richard gave a small self deprecating joke, usual for mercenary of the so called handsome rouge type.

“Now that I’ve introduced myself, I believe it’s your turn to do the same, as well as your man of mystery. I was intending on hanging back and providing fire support if he had gotten a bit rowdy, though it would appear that would be rather unnecessary at this point in time.” Richard gave a lie to cover up his inaction, after all radars are more or less universal.

Matt had moved his mobile suit closer, getting within visual distance of the other mobile suits. As he'd kept watch on his sensors, closing the distance, he'd been alarmed to see another machine take the field. All of them had converged though there seemed to be no shooting going on. And there was a ship, too!
The closer he got, the more details he could make out. And to his eye, the suits looked... familiar. Not ones he recognised completely, but they had a certain Gundam-ness to them, but of no make nor model he recognised. And similarly, the ship reminded him of the Pegasus-class carriers from the One-Year War and after, but it was larger, sleeker, and looked more advanced. None of the mobile suits or the ship were transmitting any kind of IFF that he recognised either.
He drew himself to a stop within range of his weapons, but not so close that he couldn't move away should things go south; despite the fact they outnumbered him, and looked all-too well-armed. Radio chatter flew back and forth - and, surprisingly to him, there seemed to be no Minovsky Particle interference at all. Rolling the dice, he broadcast on an open frequency after listening for a few moments.
"Attention unidentified mobile suits," he said cautiously, but with a firm voice. "I am Major Matthew Fox of the Earth Federation Forces. I mean no harm or ill intent. Can you identify yourselves, or this place?"

Again what this man was saying made no sense to Gabriel Both of the faction names meant nothing to him, and calling his suit "High-Tech" Gabriel always did his best to keep the nearly ten year old hunk of metal looking its best, but that only hid the well aged machine under the hood. Then the kid not knowing really what a Newtype was threw him for a loop again. It was clear that this pilot was younger than Gabriel so how did he not know what he was? Gabriel had basically been abducted at the age of 16 when his abilities started to manifest and the UNE new very well how to train and hone Newtypes for battle. What made this kid different. Too many pieces weren't fitting into place and Gabriel had many questions, but when Black Star offered a meeting inside his ship with his commanding officer that seemed like more than a tempting offer. "A meeting sounds good, something is off here and sitting at a table to talk it out sounds much nicer than sitting in our suits unsure if the other will make an attack." he replied to Black Star agreeing to meet with the captain.

It wasn't long before two other mobile suits showed themselves, one another Newtype who seemed to know what Black Star was talking about and the other seemed to be a normal human, although he gave allegiance another faction Gabriel had never heard of. They both seemed just as confused as Gabriel and this Black Star person. After introducing himself Gabriel suggested Black Star lead the way so that introductions could be made in person.

"A pleasure 'Richie'. Strange they'd give a mercenary access to a Strike Model. I don't even recognize the thing with that build. Call me Black Star until we can get further acquainted. The Captain would probably like to have a word with you. If you got nothing to hide we're more than willing to help a fellow soldier." Paul stated as he lowered his rifle. He looked around, and on his radar popped up another mobile suit fast approaching. "Do we have a reading on the approaching unit? Does it have an OMNI Code, or a ZAFT?" Paul questions but the crew could not confirm a positive reading on the approaching Unit. He turns Raigo to look at the sky he had his main camera close into identify the other target. "Should we take him Lieutenant?" questioned Beta Leader where Paul shook his head. "No. Not until he proves himself to be a hostile. The chance of damage to the Sundown is risky but starting an unnecessary fight here would be fatal." Paul comments as he waits for the approaching unit to land when it does it identifies itself as a member of the Earth Federation as well...strange coincidences...was the Federation behind this? "I am a part of OMNI Enforcer under the Earth Federation Government. Gundam Pilot Lieutenant Black Star is my code name. I am second in command of that ship the Sundown is its designation. Its a super carrier made specifically to destroy Extremist groups, or to serve as a frontline operation base. Its basically a mobile fortress. Location...China? But I doubt it is actually China I was in space when I vanished a long way from the Earth Sphere. I'm inquiring that these two follow me aboard will you also comply?" Paul stated as shifted his shield protectively in front of him just in case.
