Okay, so the other day I was forced to get a new phone after my Galaxy 6+ finally died after 5 glorious years. I was able to get most of my stuff transferred to the new phone, but the battery died after a partial app transfer. Which forced me to go reload a bunch of stuff. Long story short, while hunting for apps to re-install, I came across some new sorts of games that got me thinking.

It might be interesting and a neat sort of challenge to try some Improv sandbox roleplaying. Toss up a random setting with a random plot device or few, and play from a dead drop insertion point. Let the players figure out the finer points of their characters, and even the world they are in as they go.

High School Life and smut are my no-go zones. College life and romance are fine. I'm just too old for that other stuff to have any appeal.

I can play either gender. I tend to be better at playing dudes. I have a habit of playing boring chicks, but.. maybe sandboxing can help that too. I dunno. I do, however, tend to think outside the box with characters. Which has made more than one DM throw things at me. O.o* I slapped the Fantasy tag simply because I tend to play characters as non-cookiecutter as I am. -shrug-

FYI, my body and life tend to be rather chaotic so I have no idea what my schedule is from one day to the next. I am also a player on the spectrum so it may take me a bit longer to pound out a response. My brain's cpu is absurdly slow at times. :P I'll do my best to keep up.

Well if that's the sort of thing you like you might want to try a thing I used to do a lot years ago back when I was in high school. Basically the GM sets the stage as you, playing your self (or a character you make up as you go along) having just an ordinary day. Except he throws in stuff at random. So like, when I was doing it I might literally start the game by saying "You look out the window while reading this post and see Chutulhu. React." Or I might say "Your PC shuts down because the power went out." And the story develops as we'd run along as just improvise the whole thing.

That was quite fun actually.

I might want to give this a try. I did similar stuff when I was in school too.

The thread title intrigued me, so I took a look at this. I've done something similar, though not quite the same (everyone is taking turns writing the same story with the same characters vs. each person controlling a specific character and building a shared world together). I figured I'd give a few pieces of advice that might be helpful.

-Having a specific place to discuss ideas and plan things out can be really helpful. Discord is a good tool for this, for example.
-Establishing a little bit of an overarching plot or goal is helpful. If there is no direction, it can get confusing and people will go in different (plot) directions because they have different ideas of what will happen.
-Establish your genre ahead of time. E.g. if you're in a fantasy setting, your characters aren't going to ride into battle on huge mechs.

Just thought I'd share. I don't think free roleplay posts have enough depth for me to write in, but I will at least lurk here to see how this goes. Good luck!

If we are talking about the sort of thing I mentioned there is basically zero depth in it. That's sort of the fun. You just get to shut your brain off and admire the madness.

@PPQ Purple I'm with Zapdos on this. If there's nothing to keep everyone centered, it can sort of meander and fizzle out. I know from experience. Also, how do you plan to work around everyone's actions?

So basically, this will be a Gintama-esque story where randomness galore?? Count me in
