"Well, I've already had to dress like a Rocket, and a Skull. But, where will we find a group of these obnoxius morons?" Liam inquired.

“If we stand out they will come to us,” Jen said as she and Aura follow Mamie.

"Hold on, I have an idea." Liam said he pulled out his Rotomphone and a little notebook that said "Galar" on it with a medical cross. He flipped to a particular page and punched in a set number. It rang twice before hold music started playing*. After a moment, Nurse Joy appeared on the screen.
"Hello Liam, how have you been?"
"I'm fine, Aunty. Listen, I know you're probably busy and I'm sorry to bother you, but my friends and I are hear to challenge the gym, and I was wondering if you knew how we could get in since the gate is down."
"Oh, that will be simple enough. I can leave Teresa in Indeedee on charge of the Pokemon Center for a moment while I come help. I'll be there soon." With that the phonecall ended.

"Definitely better than dressing as Team Yell loudmouths," Shiranui commented, "We lack the Galarian Zigzagoon or evolutions to pass as any of them."

Jen and Aura stop in there tracks to their friends.

The door opened to a Joy there with her trademark smile. Liam walked up and the two shared a brief hug. She explained that she had a Rotom hack the door open, but they had to hurry before someone noticed.

Shiranui nodded and ran inside, motioning for Jen to follow.

"I wonder why they had the gate closed," Liam thought out loud. Isn't that kind of sabotaging the trainers?"
"That's the point," Said a voice from around the corner as three Yell Grunts came around the corner.
"Why did you let these losers into our town lady!?" spat one of them. "I guess we will have to have a little chat." He started approaching the Joy, but Liam got in front of her. He wore a glare that he hadn't worn since he dealt with Erik, the poacher who had abused Smaug back when he was a Charmander, as well as Smaug's now deceased mother.
"I will not let you lay a finger on her." His glare eventually made the Grunt back down.
"What are you three doing?!" said a voice as Marnie walked up. "Leave them alone!" The Grunts looked distraught and walked away.
"Thanks," Liam said.

"Now that's a Stare that would make even Saisei back down," Shiranui commented. He addressed Marnie, "We three have come here to challenge the local gym for a badge.

Jen and Aura agree with Shiranui, Jen and Aura have a bad feeling about the gym leader.

“Are you here to stop the Grunts or challenge the gym leader,” Jen Mamie as she make sure Aura stay close to her?

"Something like that." Marnie explained.

Jen was curious by Mamie respond.

"From what I researched, we're facing Piers at the local gym and what makes his gym unique is the fact that his is the only League-sanctioned Pokémon gym that specialises in Dark-type Pokémon thus far," Shiranui stated, "Being the penultimate gym in the Challenge, he'll be using dual-type Pokémon."

The gym soon came into sight. Liam turned to ask Marnie if she wanted to go first, but she wasn't anywhere to be found. Two Yell grunts blocked the path to the stadium floor.
"How did you get in here?" asked the female grunt.
"Doesn't matter, we can't stop them from facing Piers now that they are here," said the other.
Liam noticed that his Dynamax band wasn't acting like it normally did. "Interesting, does this gym not have a power spot?" Liam asked aloud.
"That is correct," Said a voice from behind the heroes. a man with black and white hair walked up, wearing the same symbol as the Team Yell grunts. He introduced himself as a Piers, and explained that he is the only Galar Gym Leader that doesn't use Dynamax. He also apologized if Team Yell caused them any trouble across Galar, they see Marnie as a hometown hero and want to see her win.
