This is always a fun thing to do: if your faction was actually a civ in a Civ game (lets say Civ 5), what would be their unique things? Lets assume they're fully established and everything.

For Highwarren, their Unique Ability would be Caretaker's Lesson: Golden Ages and We Love the King Days provide bonus science. Their Unique Building would be Jousting Lists, it replaces the Stable and gives +1 Faith for improved pastures and +15 XP for Mounted units trained in the city. Their Unique Unit would be the Rat-at-Arm Knights who replace the Knights, are stronger and aren't made obsolete by Cavalry.

@ClocktowerEchosThat does sound useful. I would try, except I've never played a Civ game

Too bad our wonderful GM is in Yurope. Sorta limits things to a turn per day. Feedback on posts might be complicated

While we're waiting for our GM, anyone want to share some lore from their factions?

@ClocktowerEchosSure! I’m quite interested in the ratkin* actually. Certainly seem different from something comparable, like the Skaven

@ClocktowerEchos The ogres were once human, but years of inbreeding and diet of primarily fattening food mutated them. They are the first "pure" ogres and descended from the first ogre. Heavily spiritual and they worship their first patriarch like a saint, although they would most likely bow to human's and easily ally themselves with them as they are deific figures in their eyes.

@rezay It depends on who they meet first, mostly I have no preference but choosing between Communism or a Steampunk Guerrilla Republic...Neither options sound great.

@Dark CloudWell, the NJ is basically what it says on the tin at this moment. It’s nothing so grand, just a shantytown trying to reestablish human civilization. I’m going to play them as a faction which will develop most of their depth during the RP. The only defining features of their society is their ethno-linguistic foundation (primarily Anglo-Celtic) and their spirituality, which at this stage is very vague. They’re basically an infant, faction-wise. Probably one that will grow rapidly, given the present factors

@ClocktowerEchosHow would the ratkin view the Ogres, hm?? It seems like their first contacts will be them or the NJ, whatever form it takes at that point

Yeah the main thing that they're very aware of their own problems and limitations due to the Caretaker. The Myth of Utopia is a huge cultural influence that makes them constantly on guard for over expanding and turning cruel. By that reason, their own association with chivalry and honor is another subtle cultural safeguard to try and prevent them from slipping into the Skaven. Now that you've brought it up, I think I'm going to add that the word Skaven is actually a very heinous insult to the Ratkin meaning something like "cruel, hedonistic demon", another mythologized thing that the Caretaker once actually told them.

I have been thinking of adding more about NJ’s social hierarchy to the sheet. Sure, there’s the government, but there are a bunch of other factions and interests I have floating around in my head that I haven’t written down yet. I probably should.
