I've got 3-4 players recruited in the Casual Interest Checks spot, just trying to build a solid team. Stats are super simplified.

After an alien scientist discovered a sentient race of giant robotic worms decimating planets for their resources and making their way towards the Milky Way Galaxy, he used a neighboring red star as a power source to combat the universal threat. Using the remains from one of the dead robotic creatures, the scientist called Eurius fashioned a suit that could absorb solar energy and travel the stars as well as fly across solar systems in a matter of minutes. Upon realizing that he could not face the horde of robotic creatures called the Vaxions alone, he gathered sentient humanoids from across the universe to aid him with the help of universal translators and additional suits. After the first wave of Vax was dealt with, Eurius used the scrap and technology to upgrade his scientific research outpost into a central hub and space station orbiting the red star and continued to build his team of cosmic protectors.
After saving hundreds of aliens from the Vax, Eurius established a colony for many of them on the station now called Star Haven. Several of them acted as crew rather than continue on with their people. They worked under Eurius after he was taken out of action when the traitor attacked the base. There were many things that went into sustaining life for hundreds of aliens, with many positions in food and agricultural needs as well as a medical bay, upkeep of the station, and seeing over the docking and garage area for wayward starships. Eurius and the crew often fight off rival alien species who want control of Star Haven because of its strategic position close to a red star, which allows warp-speed travel to the far reaches of space.
While the Vaxions were once their only reason for existing, the Nightstars would come to face additional threats. One such threat was an alien 'thing' with the ability to shapeshift and absorb organic matter into its body mass. Another threat was a traitor from within who sold out the team to the Vax for technology to prolong his lifespan. When traveling between star systems the Nightstars also caught the attention of the United Planets and their humanoid police force. Eurius never had time for politics and the Nightstars themselves are seen as criminals and vigilantes in certain space sectors. From time to time the Red Circle Gang cross paths with the team as they’ve operated in the red star system for several years longer than the universal guardians. More recently there have been talks and rumors of someone or something calling itself the Yellow King.
I'm hoping to recruit four or five players for this and maybe somebody wanting to be an antagonist. This idea is something of a mix of a couple of my favorite sci-fi concepts in comics and television, namely the Green Lantern Corps and Star Trek [Deep Space 9]. There’s the retired founder in a floating chair seeing over the maintenance, life support systems, and food and agriculture. Kar’tyre is in the hangar and garage with his team, as well as Doctor Adlanala in the Med Bay seeing over patients. And then the big guns are the Nightstars themselves. Their suits provide increased strength, speed, flight, enhanced vision, durability, energy absorption and manipulation, as well as a personal force field. Think of them as being somewhere between Superboy and Green Lantern just a tier or two below them in terms of raw power. There are also natural alien abilities we can choose to give our characters, or useful skills. Since I’m trying to make this with the simplified stat system it opens up more possibilities for attacks and defenses when you’re personalizing your characters.
I figured most everybody on the station would be NPC’s, but if you’d rather be one of the Star Haven characters I can work up a storyline with more people trying to infiltrate the station. I’m also open to somebody playing a villain and controlling a small gang of generic Red Circle Gang goons.
The stats are mostly for the battling. While we're still telling a story from our heroes POV, the battles will give each scene more weight when we're put in situations we can barely overcome if at all. You'll control your characters once I set up the battles as well as the enemies you fight to a degree. If any fights are too one sided I'll post using the enemies more to level the playing field. I'm thinking with every 8 posts in-game your health stat will reset. That should raise the stakes when we're surrounded by a dozen enemies.
Here's a breakdown of how the system works:
Here's an example of a stat card if you didn't check the links in the last opening paragraph to see some of the enemy stat cards. Superman, although he should be a Level 15 or 20, is a Level 10 enemy with only a few of his powers and abilities shown in his attacks and defenses lists. This should show that even if you have a ton of alien powers, unless you place the stat points in attack or defense, you can only use the attacks and defenses listed while in battle. Superman is in the second strength class and in the second or third speed class. Had he been a Level 15 or 20 he'd have had the freeze breath and other classic attacks.
Here's another Level 1 stat card for a character in an older game...
If there's enough interest I'll post the CS model sometime in the next day or so. Been working on everything for the iCheck for a couple weeks now to make sure it all makes sense. I really just wanted to get it posted before the weekend really got going. I've already got a few other ideas in terms of enemies for the group if nobody spices it up as an antagonist for a bit. I know I generally stick with RP's built around the DC and Marvel universes but I'm hoping for something a little more sci-fi and space opera like. Any questions or concerns feel free to ask!
