[OOC] New Frontiers: A High Fantasy RTD

^{RTD Basics:}

Unlike most other TTRPG's you will not be bogged down by dice rolls instead the GM or Co-GM will roll the dice, declaring an action by bold text and/or underline so that the GM or Co-GM will have a declared action to respond to. An RTD (or Roll To Dodge) is a system governed by the all-powerful d6 which determine how successful an action really is, each result is as follows:

1 = Catastrophic Failure | 2 = Failure | 3 = Mixed Failure/Success | 4 = Mixed Success | 5 = Success | 6 = Overshot Success

Depending on the results of your actions, the choices you make and the path you decide to take; your actions will have benefits and consequences to both you as the character and the world you inhabit even at such a minute scale. Be wary about doing things, but do not worry too much about character death because you won't get killed for no apparent reason. I want this to be a fun experience for everyone so I will be fair in regards to offing characters, but beware if you make your own stupid decisions without taking the risks into account you will have to accept the consequences.

CS Template

Name: Your given name (if you have one), surname, moniker, alias and/or nickname.
Race/Gender: Your characters race, and which member of the sex they belong to. (No monstrous races, or supernatural creatures. Think your typical fantasy races.)
Appearance: A written description of your character, and/or a picture of your character.
Background (Optional): The story of your character before they set out to discover what the open road could offer, it can be as brief or as long as you wish.
Personality (Optional): A short summary of your characters personality, what they like or dislike and the little eccentricities they exhibit.
Inventory: You start with the basics, adventuring gear and a set amount of rations. You may have one weapon and piece of protective equipment, or two weapons and no protective equipment. You begin with whatever clothing and accessories you wish.

Adventurers from all walks of life have gone forth unto these vast untamed reaches in search of their fortune, now so do you; lead by a lone wagon driven by a hooded coachman in the rain on route to the land where fortune favors the bold and the meek perish. This is the New Frontier, go forth, claim your fate and never look back.</sup>

^Guidelines

<sup>Simply put, follow the rules lined by the Guild itself. No NSFW content, although be as explicit as you wish if it comes to mature themes such as violence, swearing and use of drugs/alcohol just fade to black or take it elsewhere if it's about sex. Capiche?

Posting a full page essay isn't necessary, although I encourage you to write at least a few paragraph. Less if it isn't all that necessary, more if creativity strikes. Everyone should post once, to keep the pace of the game to a speed everyone (including myself as GM) can keep with. I will periodically post updates, and mention the various things that happen to the characters or even the world.

This is in the end, a journey into the unknown and the story that unfolds is in your hands. If this catches your glance, please stop by and give me a shout maybe pitch a character idea or something? I'm open to discuss things below or to review submitted sheets.</sup>

Name: 'Jay' (based on the lone initial on his book)
Race/Gender: Human male
Appearance: Red-orange hair that has grown a bit long from its time unattended, dark green eyes, tanned skin, scrawny, wearing a dress shirt/green vest/black pants (am working on a sketch)
Background: Jay's story, as much as he can recall it, begins out in the frontier with no recalled memories and only a book written in cipher. Luckily for him, he was not far from civilization and so was only moderately dehydrated and starving when he finally stumbled into the nearest town. While he was recovering, he had a lot of time to think - why was he out in a place apparently so full of beasts? How had he gotten there? What was he doing out there? Also - hadn't he had a friend? The details were vague but he was certain he hadn't been alone. What happened to him? Thus, once Jay recovered and confirmed no one seemed to know who he was or anything about another person perhaps wandering in from the Frontier, he did some work, gathered coin, purchased supplies, and prepared for the trip back out to the Frontier.
Personality: While J remembers how to do things, he could not tell you where or how he learned these things. As an example, while somewhat squeamish about blood, he's surprisingly good at field dressing and at cooking meat. How he came to acquire these talents, he has no idea. He also enjoys discussing philosophy and will happily engage someone for hours on end. He often has a hard time reading the room, though little such issue reading books. He views his ciphered tome as more of a puzzle than an obstacle and considers it a form of entertainment to work on deciphering it.
Inventory: Rations, waterskin, backpack, matches, 2 candles, hemp rope, bottle of ink, an ink pen, parchment, spare set of clothes, razor, leather armor, and a book with the initial 'J' on it and filled with ciphered text.

Burt Glintback

Name: Burt Glintback
Race/Gender: Male, Rock Gnome
Appearance: Burt is a three-foot-tall gnome with a lithe build. He has a rounded face and large nose that has clearly been broken a few times. His eyes are a pale clear green that seems to constantly sparkle with mischief. The top of his head is bald though he does have an unruly white beard. He wears a green tunic, leather apron with pockets full of random tools and parts, and thick brown work boots and gloves. He always seems to be covered in patches and smears of grease, soot, and other mechanical grime.
Inventory: A heavy crossbow and a quiver of 30 bolts, a bag of ball bearings, light leather armor with lots of pockets (his thick leather apron boots and gloves.) tinkerers tools, grease, assortment of random mechanical parts. A small alchemy kit, small bag of rations, rope 50 feet, a lantern and oil, a bed roll and small tent, a tinder box, water skin, flask of whiskey.

Mira Vidyarthi

A young human acolyte who hails from a nomadic tribe of desert dwellers and hunters. As a child she was blessed with the power to commune with the Gods and their servants. She is guided to the Frontier Lands by a vision sent by the divine. Armed with her faith, sacred rituals and a ceremonial dagger her pilgrimage takes her out of her homeland and into the unknown.

Divining

With a sacrificial offering and incense it allows the user to commune with a God or servants of said Gods. A single question can be asked about a specific goal, event or activity bound to occur in a set amount of time. The answer can be in the form of a short phrase, a cryptic rhyme, or an omen.

Alrighty, gonna get to work on that post. As well Mira has given me an idea, the gods of this world are like the pagan gods. The gods are simply things people came to worship. Each corresponding to different things as a whole, for example the people of the desert venerate the Sun as it gives them light and warmth and fear the Moon for it takes their light away.

Rish

Name: Rish

Race/Gender: Elf, Male

Appearance: Rish presents something of an oddity: an elf that seems wholly un-elvish. Even from a quick glance, he appears just a bit too rough around the edges. His head seems to have been recently (and hastily) shaved clean, leaving only the faintest, ghostly remnant of fine black hair and revealing the prominent pointed ears of his race. His fingers, though long and clever, are pocked and marred by old swellings and burn scars, and the sharp features of his face are offset by a slightly crooked broken nose. Most alarmingly, he is dressed not in noble finery or the humble but deceptively well made garments of elven folk, but rather in a pauper's roughspun cloth outfit, worn with travel stains and spattered with mud. In contrast, a pair of simple but well-maintained boots covers his feet. Light green eyes regard the world from under his thin brows, though there is no spark of vigor or mischief within them; instead they seem flat and grim, focused but uninspired.

Background: Officially, little is known of the criminal called "Rish." The company of elves that delivered him for transport to the Frontiers stated only that he was guilty of theft and murder, and was to be sent into exile alongside the rest of the travelers. Unsurprisingly, the convict had little else to share about himself, other than that he was hoping to find work when they reached their destination. Anyone well-traveled enough, and in the possession of a particularly sharp pair of eyes and ears, may note some uncanny resemblance to the famed Court Blacksmith of Moonhollow, Sydrishel Fithraen, whom recently disappeared under mysterious circumstances alongside his wife and longtime partner in the trade. Afterwards, it is said, the heads of House Fithraen moved quickly to stamp out any rumor or mention of his name. "Rish," of course, claims to have never heard of this blacksmith, or been to the great canyons of Moonhollow.

Personality: Rish is quiet and world-weary, with a notable lack of ambition or greater aspiration regarding his prospects in the Frontiers; instead, he has openly professed his desire to live a simple existence doing small-time jobs for the remainder of his long life. When he does set out to do something, though, Rish fulfills his task, whatever it may be, to the end, with inexhaustible focus and attention to detail. Somehow, one gets the feeling that this old elf won't get his wish of a quiet retirement in exile.

Inventory: Rish carries little on his person, though he does have a small pack containing three torches, several days' worth of dried rations, a waterskin, and flint and firestarter. As a criminal, he came with no personal belongings or weaponry, though his captors did provide the driver of the carriage with a small belt knife and a simple wooden cudgel to be given over to him when they reached their destination.
