Welcome to Skyveil, the most populated city in all of the known world. It is home to the most intelligent and highly trained magic users, the bravest and strongest warriors, and the most cunning and stealthy rogues to have ever sought a name for themselves. They all are in fact, rulers of the same land.

The city has divided itself over time, due to the uncontrollable social and strategic habits of these different cultures, into thirds that live practically autonomous from one another. The mystics, magicians, warlocks and witch-folk have taken to the large, sky-tearing pointed towers the spin a web of shadows over the city with their connecting bridges and large parapets. The fortress of a town houses every knight, soldier, and fighter-born soul within it's tall castle walls. And hidden away, in the true fashion of stealth, there is a vast labyrinth of catacombs that houses the bandits, thugs, and thief-kin who move about in the cavernous underbelly that supports the city in secret.

People

Within this division, there is diversity. Indeed, the cultivation of magic has changed more than the face of the world, but of man as well. Humans are an integral part of society that stretch throughout it with their ability to be proficient in almost anything. Beside them stand the magic-born Half-Breeds. They are humanoids that have adopted the attributes of a particular species, be it breathing underwater or flying through the sky. This has not seemed to have any effect on aging.

Places

The magical community has been deemed The Arcandom and is looked up to - quite literally - as the place of true knowledge and home to the scholars who seek it. It's large, cloud-covered landscape can make it seem like a vision of heaven to the newly witnessed. The society is largely responsible for the cities local defense and legislative practices.
Only a small percentage of the high-rise population serve in the high court, that works as a magistrate to any practicing in the magical community that may require speculation. Those soldiers magically qualified are held in a thick spire to the west.

On the ground, every aspiring warrior and wise trainer traverses an urban landscape of well-made armor, delicious foods, and beautiful women. This part of the city is referred to as The Main, which serves it's purpose as with the largest area and the most of the cities sights and services. Anyone from any district can come here. And many do to get a taste of it's glory. Aside from the questionable nightlife, the land is loud and bustling. The western edge of The Main are sea-ports on the Venom Ocean as well as the barracks for imperial soldiers, the north is the royal quarter, the east is Market, and the south is the slums. Many Dojos and Gyms are scattered about as well.

Under the ground, there is no name labeling the maze of the thieves den. It is capped with secret entrances scattered about the land. It is common knowledge that this place exists but very little hard evidence, even after so many years. This means also that this part of Skyveil doesn't bring any benefit to the city, at least no apparently.

Only one is appointed a figurehead of each of these factions and is given a power-wielding crown to be their largest symbol of authority. These helms are definitive ornaments of their respective makers. The finest cut and energy-potent crystal wreath belongs to the Archmage. The Ancient and Indestructible Helm of Heroes belongs to the Warrior-King. The most expensive and rare headdress of great gold belongs to none other than the thief-lord. They are there to hopefully ensure a balance between the adjacently interactive factions and cultivate the prosperity of the greatest, from the greatest, for the greatest.

Now where will YOU belong? Will you become the next in line for whatever power you may seek? Will you shatter the society Skyveil is built on for it? Will you die trying?

I have a bit of a question, actually. The "faction" part is just to decipher which of the three factions our characters live with/as, right? If so, would a bow-slinging alchemist (in the sense of mixing natural herbs to make "potions") work for the Wizard Faction? As there would be no actual magic involved, I was just wondering.

Elaeria Mithran

Name: Elaeria Mithran
Gender: Female
Race: Human (possibly with feline traits but no one really knows - they certainly aren't visible except in her irises)

Age: 23
Appearance: Elaeria is pale, thin and graceful with legs and arms proportionate in length to her torso and it's small bust. Her night-black hair is long and tied back into a single ponytail which, when she is at work keeping herself hidden, can be secured underneath her cloak so as to not get in the way. Standing at five foot and six inches tall she is neither tall nor short for a woman and is rarely held back from her burglary activities by her height.

She walks with a cat-like grace and her green irises are more like a cat's than a human's, these two traits leading many (including herself) to believe that she may have some feline heritage although she herself has no way of finding out for certain. Her clothes are all dark and consist of a rich cotton shirt, riding leggings tucked into tight-fitting black boots (free of noisy buckles and troublesome laces) with a plain and worn black cloak over them all to protect her against the cold, adverse weather and prying eyes.

Faction: Rogue
Occupation: Robin Hood thief (with a little cut for herself, of course).
Weapons: Long-bladed daggers (double-edged), a dozen smaller throwing knives and a healthy supply of lock picks.
Armor: Wearing little in the way of armour to provide maximum maneuverability and flexibility, Elaeria simply wears an expensive cotton shirt (not obtained through legitimate means), a woolen cloak for warmth and weather-resistance, tight riding leggings and boots all of a black or dark colour.

History: Elaeria has no idea who her parents are, her first memory being alone on an empty street around the age of three or four (she has no way of telling). Establishing her birthday as the day she found her way into the underbelly of the city from the streets, she made a small network of informants from her fellow urchins on the streets and began to steal small items from easy targets (largely food or clothes) before escalating to monetary wares when she was able to fence these expensive items.

To this day she has never had much interest in rising in the ranks of her fellow thieves, busying herself with aiding those she sees as her fellow urchins and as such is somewhat of an outsider in the warren of tunnels in which the thieves reside.

History: From the time the position of Thief-Lord was established, the Crowe line have been their guardians. The Crowe's were chosen specifically for their particular breed on the assumption that they would be more loyal than the average human. Thus far, this has always proved true. Marcus has trained since the age of five for this position, instructed by his father to replace his father. Until his father is no longer fit for duty, however, Marcus serves a lesser role as the Thief-Lord's eyes, ears, and hunting dog. While his father remains with the Lord day and night, Marcus travels all three sections of the city, carrying out the Lord's orders and gathering intelligence for him. This has been, and always will be his life, and Marcus sees no problem with this. At the very least, he takes solace in the fact that he knows his purpose in a world where so many lack direction.

History: Born in the underground to a family of thieves, Simon clawed his way out from the city of thieves with his natural skill as a warrior. At the age of 15 he left behind the city of thieves and found himself in The Main, where he trained under a knight who took him in as a squire. In a battle, his master was killed and he found himself in search of a new master.

He journeyed throughout all corners of the The Main until he met a feeble old man. The man taught him the ways of eastern warfare and eastern martial techniques. He combined both western and eastern techniques to create his own way of warfare. After proving his mastery to his master, he left to find glory and riches as a warrior.

Joining the Imperial Army, he gained the moniker "Dragonheart" from his valiance and ferocity during sieges on enemy cities outside of Skyveil. His military service allowed him to become a Commander of the army, leading men into battle. He has an overpowering sense of honor and a thirst for blood. He seeks opponents whom he can deem worthy. His plan is to win the position of Warrior-King through his own skill.

History: A snake among rats, the Caitiff family had always been one of controversy in the Labyrinth beneath the city. Many of the denizens of the undercity were simple thieves or stealthy assassins, and th Caitiffs were rarely exceptions to this rule. However, many had one rule: Do not kill your fellow thief. The Caitiffs, however, were known to break this rule too often, taking up assassinations against thieves that had wronged politicians or killing off others to ensure themselves a certain job or to keep a house ripe for their own taking.

Ana is a prime example of what the Caitiffs are. A common thug easily swayed by the clinking of gold, she is often avoided when heard to have taken a liking to a certain job, as others seem to disappear rather quickly when they are forced to work with her. The little snake has made a living off of stalking the streets at night, beating and stealing from anyone who dares to walk down the wrong alley.

Most of the Caitiffs have been killed off for their actions, leaving those few left, including Ana, to become more cautious of the Labyrinth and of the company they keep. If they keep any, that is. This has caused her to seek out friends in high places, whether they be above or below the city.

Armor: (Start off basic) A light cotton undershirt. Enchanted dark blue robes which can trick the naked eye into making it seem like Adoroar is simple not there, or atleast harder to distinguish among a group of faces.

History: Born in a rural farming village near the entrance Skyveil. Adoroar lived a simple, yet happy life. His family made a living as many did in this village, by sowing and reaping what they planted into their family's small plot of land behind their home. Now this was not much, but it was enough to live by. Adoroar was content with his life, well as content as a seven year old boy can be.

One day Adoroar awoke in his bedroll to the sounds of sizzling wood and the sight of smoke creeping into the room. He sat there crying and yelling for his mother and father, until he heard a sound mixed in with the crackling of the wood. It took Adoroar a few moments to identify the sound but when he did, it became glaringly obvious that this sound could be only one thing, the sound of his dear mother screeching in pain as fire ran across her body tearing and burning at her flesh. Even though Adoroar was a boy of but seven he impulsively ripped the covers from him self and ran haphazardly through the smoke towards his mothers wails. As he neared the origin of the screams he saw the scorched and charred body of his father laying face-flat with flames still dancing across the skin of his body. Adoroar still pushed on with tears raining freely form his eyes only to be extinguished by the heat of the flames. Then, finally he met the source of these atrocious cries.

Around this time a young wizard, not that you would know it, rode through the village on business for the Arcandom. As he passed through this village he saw a large group of villagers rushing towards a farmhouse that had been lit ablaze. Now normally this wizard would have just kept going minding to himself. But he noticed, no felt something. So out of curiosity he rode his steed toward the burning house.

As Adoroar saw his mother, or what was left of her, on the floor little more then gasping now, he reached toward her only to be burnt by the flames. He fell to his knees beside his mother's corpse and began to howl in sorrow. Adoroar sat there waiting for the inevitable. But then he felt something brush against his leg, he took his hands away from his tear ridden face and looked down. His mother lay on the ground, screaming stopped, and locked eyes with Adoroar. She uttered one single word... "Live".

Just as this young wizard was about to turn away from the flames something magnificent happened. A shock wave of air was emitted from the home, the flames were swept out and all that remain was a few pillars of charred wood and some burnt straw. Yet in the middle of all this carnage sat a small boy with his hands balled up in his face.

This young wizard was no other then Clarion S. Ward.
