[IC] Old Knight, and a New Dawn - Crawkid/43

Collected again, the ex knight stared blankly at the blanket waving around infront of his face. Magic. It's just magic of some sort. Surely.

With a slight groan of his own, he pushes himself off and out of the chair. Having been tense for nearly his whole resting period, he stretches a little and yawned. Making his way to the kitchen which the blanket was pointing to...he thinks, anyways.

"Well... this is odd but, I'll try talking anyways...did you...want me in here?"

The house used a fork to push a plate of pancakes at him. It wasn't going to accept denial as an answer. It also offered him a little cup of syrup. It then used a knife to point to the door that led out to the porch. It wanted him to take the food and go sit outside with the fox, and it was doing its best to get that point across as basically as possible.

A house where things move is still odd to him, but Ray decided to stop questioning it so much. It was odd...but hadnt harmed them yet. As far as he knew.

...where was the fox girl?

He didnt see her around anywhere, but for now, there was a plate of food being moved towards him. And his stomach growled in agreement. WIth a sigh of resignation, he nods slightly and accepts the plate...and after a moment of hesitation, also picked up the fork that had moved earlier.

"...thank you"

And with that, he awkwardly shuffles out to the porch.

The house gave a creak that somewhat resembled "you're welcome."

The girl had finished her meal, the plate resting on the step below where the fox currently lay. The moment he stepped outside, she quickly changed to her humanoid form. "Hey," she offered him a half smile. "Did you get some sleep?" She knew that answer but would ask anyways for the sake of conversation. Only when she went quiet did she realize she hadn't managed to go fully human and sported her red ears and three tails.

He smiles a faint smile, still tired looking, and sits down, "...I slept, technically. Thank you."

He finds a spot and slowly sits down to sort himself and his plate out to be in a comfortable position. ....What is this house? Is it haunted? Enchanted?"

He takes a small bite, "mm...it can cook well, at least."

The girl's tails wagged. "In terms you'd understand, it's sentient! I didn't think it had the resources to cook but clearly I was wrong!" Her entire demeanor had changed from the day before. The rest had treated her nicely, her mood and voice much more upbeat than they'd been the day before previously. "Did I say sorry for being mean yesterday? I don't think I did... well, I'm sorry about that! Using my magic makes me pretty drained!"

He eats slowly, turning the new information over in his mind between bites. With a hum, he twirls one bite a little before eating it. Looking back at her as she apologizes, he chuckles, "...I think you did. But I appreciate the apology regardless."

He quietly finishes the pancake and sighs, both with satisfaction and relief, and because he knows thigs will get more difficult soon. "This was nice...but... we cant hold up here for too much longer. If you didnt think it had resources to cook, I can only imagine it doesnt have much left, if anything. Even if we are never found, we will need resources. and then assume that we *will* be found someday..."

"You lived in the city for how long and didn't find the cottage? We can stay here for a while. Yeah, resources will be trouble. But I'm a kid, or at least I look it- I'm older than you are, most likely.' She couldn't help but wag as she spoke. "If I told you how I got on living, you'd be surprised." She sounded confident in her own abilities, though that confidence was more than slightly misplaced.

Ray smiles gently, chuckling , "Well...youre not human. I know many races don't age like we do." he sets the plate down ontop of hers.

"So, I suppose I will ask. How old are you? And how do you go about things? Its going to take a change of looks and clothes in order for me to be very useful now. No doubt the new government is already spreading..."

The girl paused for a long moment before responding to the first question. "In human time I'm two hundred and fifty two years, six months, four weeks, five days, seventeen hours, ten minutes, and thirty seven seconds old." She paused after listing off the number as she considered her answer to the second part. "I'm not sure what you mean by that. As for the last part, mind if I do?" She held her hand out to the man, palm up.

He hums at first and nods. Internally, he was surprised at how high the number was, but not surprised at her being older at the same time. And then seemed surprised and confused by her last comment and question. Raising a brow at the little fox girl, he hesitates slightly, before gently giving her his hand. "What for...?"

She just smiled and closed her eyes. After a few moments, a gentle orange/red glow settled around his feet. She opened her eyes. "Illusion spell. It'll last for as long as I'm able to maintain it, break if I use any other spells, and you'd have to stay somewhat near me. I've rarely met anybody who could see through one of my spells," she paused, then went quiet as she decided not to say what she could have. "Or maybe it's a super evil curse that'll turn you into a flying frog in a year," she joked, tails tapping against the porch floor.

Ray had tensed at first as she fox girl did...something. The glow around his feet drew his attention, as well as his nervousness, but then he looked up again as she began to speak and explain herself. Weighing this new information, he relaxes some, and chuckles, "I will choose to believe it is an illusion. It sounds difficult to keep up though."

She made a happy trill-like sound. "That's the best part! It's not difficult at all! Illusion magic is the easiest form of magic for me to use!" Her three tails tapped the floor in a rhythmic pattern. She lifted her arms and stretched, yawning. "We should probably head into one of the cities soon," she paused. "though for that we'd need a reason we'd be traveling together that isn't the fact that I saved your life." Her cheerful facade remained despite the slight concern in her words. If he doesn't manage to pay me back for doing that, we're going to have a problem. I mean I didn't do much but that boy owes me, she let herself think the thought then flicked it away with a flick of one of her ears. She leaned back on her hands, studying him.

The illusion is set. Ray goes from a square jawed man with short dark brown hair to a slightly slimmer and softer build with a lighter, longer, reddish brown hair. Curiously, he leans over to get a look from the reflection of the windows. Tilting his head one way then the other. then he attempts to run his fingers through the hair that isn't actually there, "interesting..."

Looking back to her, he smiles slightly, before getting back to business, "yes...at the very least, we should get information on how things are changing already....and stock up on supplies, so long as we are going to stay here..."

He stands and stretches himself, watching himself again for a moment as he thinks, "...I could be your dad." he smirks some, "or, your brother? No one ever thinks twice about family."

"As much as I hate it, I do probably look young enough to be your daughter." She paused for a moment then her form appeared to change to human. She now had long brown hair and ocean blue eyes, though she had chosen not to change most of herself since she wanted to keep most of her energy on him. "But you are not holding the act over me! I'm older than you, technically!" She added, scowling at him and crossing her arms, rather like a child would. She might have been an adult but sometimes her behaviour was not, and she knew that, which might have been why she was so adamant that she would not allow herself to be treated like a kid.

He chuckles, nodding and kneeling down on one knee. "In private, I won't use our appearance as a way act above you. Except to tease you, if i ever do." He places a hand on his chest, a sign of his honesty and serious intention, regardless of how *un*serious he may sound.

She stuck her tongue out at him. "I have claws," she reminded him, though she was wagging. She would trust him to at least give her a bit of decency considering his past profession. "We should probably head out soon," she stood, picking up the plates. The house opened its door for her and she blinked, staring at the door surprisedly before shrugging and going inside to put the dishes away.

His initial response to her retort is just a gentle smile. But its back to business again, and he nods, standing and looking over himself again. "Well daughter of mine, you know this house better than I do...what kind of supplies do we need? I....should also maybe get a job"

He thinks and looks into the house a moment, before beating as much dirt out of his clothes as he can, and heads inside with the dirty dishes, "and do we have weapons?"

“You definitely need a job. It doesn’t have any clothes that would fit you. I can manage myself. Food is a need- not perishable ideally. I have weapons, you’ll need some.” She responded after taking a moment listening to the creaking of the house. She gave him a scowl but did not comment on how he chose to address her. In public she would be fine with it because she had to be. In private she hated it already.
