Biography: Born a Dalish elf, Elianne doesn't actually remember much of her childhood from before she was bought by the Antivan Crows, only a few things like seeing her clan's Halla, and being taught to respect nature. Nothing of her parents or even which clan she was a part of. Instead almost all of her childhood memories are of her training to be a Crow. Watching her friends be killed because they failed in various ways, and learning that the only way top survive was to do exactly as she was told no matter how reprehensible the deed was. She managed to maintain some level of morality over the years however, often bing the one to offer moral support to others after they comitted some horrendous act, helping them justify it, and move on. That was right up until the day came that she herself was set with the task of killing one of her peers, not just that, but one of her closest friends. Still she carried out the deed, but she was never quite the same afterwards. What had been an outgoing girl who cared about others had become a recluse, keeping to herself, and almost never speaking unless it was necessitated.
Years passed, and with them Elianne committed more and more heinous deeds, with each one offering less and less moral questioning from her. By the time she was grown and had reached the rank of an actual assassin within the organization she spoke of death as casually as a nobleman speaks of fine wines. Often describing her kills in great detail to her peers, laughing as she would explain the morbid details. She had grown into something show-off even, taking great pride in taking some of the most difficult contracts that few believed she would return from and completing them, not for the money or the praise, but just to prove to herself that she was one of the best at her job. Being a Crow meant being ruthless, but she took it to a new level, especially when a contract gave her difficulty. She would leave a trail of bodies, men, women, even children if it helped her get to her target.
That changed though with her most recent contract, it was one three others had already failed. Some Apostate Elf living in the woods of Ferelden. It took months just to find where the mage was hiding, in the Korcari Wilds just west of a Chasind village. After about a week of tracking, and some bribing local Chasind hunters she finally pinpointed the mage's hideout. Finally she would finish the job, it had taken far too much time and money to even be worth it by this point, but it had become a matter of pride to her. It only took a few hours before she had the elf in her sights, as she brought a poison tipped arrow from her quiver though, a crack of a stick nearby, and then before she could react, it all went black.
As she awoke she knew she was tied to a chair as her first attempts at movement met with unbreakable resistance. As she came to her senses she was able to look about the room, it was one of the Chasind buildings, and the mage was standing there right across the room from her. She silently breathed a sigh of relief. If killing her was intended she wouldn't have woke up after all. She kept her mouth shut and listened as the mage explained their situation. She went on with some story about how she had an agreement with the local Chasind to tell her when the Crows came for her. Elianne didn't actually pay attention to what she said until she got to the sob-story about her Dalish clan being attacked by slavers. The similarities of her own past caught her attention. She listened to a long story about how the mage had escaped her would-be captors, become a lone apostate mage wandering the wilderness, doing what she had to to survive, and finally ending up with an Antivan Crows contract on her head. Finally though the story got interesting, as it turned out the first assassin sent after her was one of the very same elves that was taken by slavers as a kid. A friend of Elianne's as it happened though she had no knowledge of his Dalish past, and doubted he himself even did. She then explained that depite besting him, when he came for her, she also recognized him, and could not kill him. So she left him with the option to die or leave, but never return to the Crows, to seek out a life for himself.
The Mage it seemed viewed the assassins like Elianne as victims, and had played the same situation with the others that came for her, While she scoffed at such a viewpoint, when faced with the choice to either die or try and live out a life outside the Crows, the choice was pretty obvious for her. So she left, to the rest of the world just some elf with a bow and a couple swords, to the Crows another casualty of a particularly difficult to kill mage, and to herself a weapon suddenly deprived of a purpose. All she had known for all her life was killing for the Crows, but now she couldn't go back, not having failed to eliminate her quarry, she would be killed by her own comrades. All she could do now was try and find a new purpose.
