I'm glad they're not fucking around like I've seen in the first season and a bit. I mean, Game of Thrones has no problem murdering the shit out of children and babies, so it's good that the Walking Dead is trying to go back to some of what makes the comic so damn good; there's seriously a LOT of crazy stuff that happens in the comic that is shocking, and part of the reason I have a hard time getting into the show is they're veering too far away from the source material, and it seemed like they're making it more, I don't know if tame is the right word, but I'll tell you now a LOT has changed between the comics and the show, and not necessarily for the better. Like... Andrea never joined the Woodsbury group, and the Governor right off the bat was an unrelenting psychopath with no redeeming qualities, the show just made him seem like a normal guy. The fuck.

I liked the first season a lot. In fact that was my favourite.
They stuck as a group, they wandered, and each episode has a new plot, story and theme to it.
Since season 2 once you got one plot hook you knew that was the ride for the whole season.

I might need to look at the comics at some point.
But honestly as far as Walking Dead I like the game far more than the show anyways.

Based on the preview we might get pretty deep into Mereen, too. Which would be great for next season, because fuck most of book 4 (there's no way they can do just book 4 for a whole season).

I just heard they plan on only doing 7 seasons, so they're probably skimping out on a lot of the Dorne and Greyjoy stuff.

There's like ten Dornish plotlines that could be simplified into one character, if they wanted, and lose essentially nothing. But I think the real time saver is.... hang on.

The real timesavers are (1) Tone down Brienne's quest, first and foremost. Ease up on the sparrows, less back-and-forth, boil the whole thing down to one or two revenge-shots for Harrenhal and be done. Then (2) Forget about **almost** all of Mereen. The dragons need to be locked up for about two episodes and then it's *over*. That shit. Goes. Nowhere. Toxic television, skip it all.
