"It was just a silly race. Not something important." Roxy replied with a shrugged

"Let's not tell Ivy that! Anyhow shall we sit by the fire?" Said Thomas deciding the conversation had no use

"I think it might be dangerous to get any closer." Roxy said watching the fire flare. "That child is going to burn someone."

Thomas watched Ivy, the fire flickering with life, the shadows dancing with her, and a odd look on her face. Thomas shuddered a little and thought that that must be what the ancient water dancers used to look like "Yes actually that may not be the best idea" Thomas turned to Roxy "What do you suggest we do then?"

"Listen to the story. I am sure it wont be very scary with so many young one's around, but it should be pleasant to hear" Roxy suggested. She watched the girl hug every person seated around the fire. Roxy was glad she had chosen to stand way from the circle of logs.

After the race Jason headed back to his cabin to just relax. He normally wasn't a very social person, since this was camp he kind of had to be, but it was really wearing him out. He ended up taking a nap and slept through dinner which he was not happy about. It was dark out and in the distance he could hear people talking and smell smoke. He was sure a campfire would lighten up his mood. His family had a trailer and they had fires every night, it was always fun. He got to the fire and just kind of stood on the outside, not taking a seat just yet.

Celia looked around the campfire for the others but with a shrug just decided to sit down and ignore them. "What is the story?"

Carlee walked up behind the others and sat on the ground. She listened intently to the conversation that was going on around the campfire. She moved her tail quickly through the fire, teasing the flames.

In unison the counselors tell this story. "If you travel to Bear Lake in Utah on a quiet day, you just might catch a glimpse of the Bear Lake Monster. The monster looks like a huge brown snake and is nearly 90 feet long. It has ears that stick out from the side of its skinny head and a mouth big enough to eat a man. According to some, it has small legs and it kind of scurries when it ventures out on land. But in the water - watch out! It can swim faster than a horse can gallop - makes a mile a minute on a good day. Sometimes the monster likes to sneak up on unwary swimmers and blow water at them. The ones it doesn't carry off to eat, that is.

A feller I heard about spotted the monster early one evening as he was walking along the lake. He tried to shoot it with his rifle. The man was a crack shot, but not one of his bullets touched that monster. It scared the heck out of him and he high tailed it home faster than you can say Jack Robinson. Left his rifle behind him and claimed the monster ate it.

Sometimes, when the monster has been quiet for a while, people start saying it is gone for good. Some folks even dredge up that old tale that says how Pecos Bill heard about the Bear Lake monster and bet some cowpokes that he could wrestle that monster until it said uncle. According to them folks, the fight lasted for days and created a hurricane around Bear Lake. Finally, Bill flung that there monster over his shoulder and it flew so far it went plumb around the world and landed in Loch Ness, where it lives to this day. Course, we know better than that. The Bear Lake Monster is just hibernating-like. Keep your eyes open at dusk and maybe you'll see it come out to feed. Just be careful swimming in the lake, or you might be its next meal!"

Cyndi's eyes were wide and she gulped, clutching her knees, she was mostly scared of everything, but this freaked her the hell out.
Cyndi's face was hot and flame danced between her fingers.

Carlee could tell the new girl was freaked out. Quietly she came up behind her and then waved her tail in her face.
"Boo!"

Wilhelm got off the bus just as he finished his can of pop. He found that some people were gathered around a campfire. "I don't have anywhere else to go at the moment" he muttered to himself. He had a red backpack on which had some clothes and some extra cans of pop. He sat down near the campfire, as far away as he could from other people.

Thomas was not paying attention to the story that was being told and he had been looking at the others, studying their faces when he saw a newcomer to the fold. The boy sat down and went unnoticed by the others, Thomas decided to give the boy some company. As Thomas approached the boy he said "Hi there!"

Wilhelm heard that someone had said hi to him. He lifted his head up and saw that the person was standing in front of him. "Hello" he said to him.

Thomas smiled "Hi! My name is Thomas! What is your name?!"

"Wilhelm" he said. He yawned while saying "Nice to meet you".
