Personality:
A bitter, jaded, and pragmatic old man that puts his family first above all else. He is intelligent, cunning, and ruthless in the pursuit of his goals. To other people, he is cold, stoic, and impersonal. Lantus is a pragmatist at heart, and will always take the most practical course of action, no matter the cost to himself or others. However, he has a soft spot for his children and his (deceased) wife. Lantus views his family and his soldiers as his responsibility, and will go to any lengths to ensure their safety and success.

Biography:
Originally the heir of a minor, impoverished noble house of Ylisse, Lantus entered the military at a young age in order to try to win glory and riches for his family and raise their standing. His military skill was such that he rose to the rank of general at a young age. During the reign of the previous Exalt, Ylisse entered into another war, and Lantus’s prowess as a general was pivotal to Ylisse’s victory. During a pitched battle, Lantus lead the charge and broke the enemy lines, causing them to rout, but lost an eye to a stray arrow in the process. However, he was more noted for his tactics than his victories, as Lantus used several underhanded tricks to ensure his victories, his most notable action being poisoning an entire city’s water supply to weaken the garrisoned army within before he took the city with minimal casualties. Despite how dishonorable and damaging his tactics were, they were done in order to minimize losses among his own men and secure a victory for the Ylissan army. The previous Exalt noted this, and rewarded Lantus with the title of duke and the lands that came with, elevating his family from being a minor house to a respected and powerful one. Lantus had attained the success he had dreamed of, but the horrors of war and his own actions left him cold and jaded.
When his father died and Lantus became the head of his house, he became a sworn supporter of Exalt Lucina for pulling his family out of obscurity and was one of her most loyal generals. In the years that followed, Lantus arranged a marriage alliance to other prominent Ylissan house in order to ensure his family’s prosperity and had a son and two daughters from that wife.
Once Exalt Lucina died and Darrian took the throne, Lantus retired from active duty in order to better oversee his duchy as his children began to make their own paths into the world. His son and heir became a captain of Ylisse’s knights, his older daughter became a prominent mage, and his younger daughter enlisted in the Shepards. As a result, when Darrian began purging the Shepards, Lantus frantically searched for his daughter Alicia, hoping that she wasn’t killed in the fighting. During this time, Darrian called for Lantus to return to active service as a general, as Ylisse had weakened itself by purging a good portion of its own military, and Lantus accepted not to serve the realm, but to ensure that his daughter would live if he came across the surviving Shepards.

Despite his dishonorable actions, Lantus has never actually betrayed his word or broken any oath he has made, and has no intention to.

As soon as I woke up fifteen minutes ago, I checked school closings on the news and my school website, and when I saw that it'd be closed I just crawled back into bed but couldn't fall asleep. XD

Three or so years ago, we were getting ridiculous amounts of snow days for no reason because the superintendent that year was retiring. This year, we're actually using our snow days this time, and for the right reason; snow. >_>
