Under Deep

Fantasy/Adventure

Interest Check: www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/23089/posts/ooc?page=1

Setting: On a large scale, it takes place in the Heartlands, a region on the continent of Omeria, and home to the Six Towers, but that's another story. On a smaller scale, it takes place in and around Valuun Keep. Just outside of Valuun Keep, about an hour or so of walking distance, sits NightRaven Inn, the only refuge within miles.

Plot: As the story goes, Valuun Keep's construction was ordered by the mad general Valrund. He apparently built it around a cave opening that leads to 'Under Deep', although these are just mere rumors. Valuun Keep has become infamous, as anyone who ventures to close seemingly disappears - never to be seen again. To this day the locals and other travelers tend to just steer clear of the structure.

A recent earthquake, however, has the locals concerned. Something is definitely up with that keep, and perhaps something even more sinister is brewing in its depths. Perhaps the rumors of Under Deep are true, and if so what could possibly be down there? The goal is for you guys - the players - to try and uncover the mystery of Valuun Keep.

Wouldn't it be preferable to simply give time to the eleven people who expressed their interest to work on decent characters, then pick the ones best suited, rather than simply making this a race as to whom can write a character sheet the fastest? Seems like it would be better for everyone, since it allows to make a more detailed and fleshed out application, better reflecting what sort of person they will be playing... Not to mention the fact that some people might be prevented from joining by sheer virtue of their time zone.

Also, isn't it a bit of an overstatement to say that this is the only way to go about it?

@Cryptiic: I'm ignorant, and ain't very smart, I just like to RP. But yeah, I reckon your idea would be better. Change of plans people! I don't like to choose... but everyone make a bio and I'll choose six of you to play the RP.

Name: Ireth Vardamir
Age/Race/Gender: 90 (Appears 18) year old elf female
Profession: Ranger
Appearance:

Armor/Clothing: seen in appearance
Weaponry: Bow and arrows (seen in appearance) and two small knives hidden in each boot
Other Items: Has a small bag that contains various potions and a book to read when she gets bored. Also possesses a necklace with a small, silver leaf pendant that she wears constantly. It reminds her of her homeland.

Skills: Very agile and clever. Her accuracy is really high, although she is capable of missing but that's rare. Able to speak many languages, however she hasn't spoken several in a while so there's the opportunity she says something horribly wrong
Abilities: Other than her accurate shooting, she can also cast basic healing spells and has the ability to sing Elvish songs that either puts an enemy to sleep or simply paralyzes them (depends on the strength of the opponent)

Personality/Goals: The strong yet silent type, she usually keeps to herself and is independent. However, in the heat of battle she's extremely loyal and would die for her comrades
History: On the eve of her 90th birthday, Ireth decided that she needed to leave her home and seek out more adventure, to create stories worthy of telling her children and grand children and great grandchildren. She wanted her name to go down in history. Her travels pre-NightRaven Inn were very small, helping villagers with a case of a robber or pack of naughty animals or saving several people. Nothing nobody has done before. But then she heard whispers of Valuun Keep and the mysteries that lie there and new that's where she was meant to be. That's where she'll find her glory.

Name: Aveline Ronan.
Age/Race/Gender: 21 year old human female.
Profession: Adventurer.
Appearance:

Armour/Clothing: (Contrary to the picture.) Beneath a basic set of leather armour – a chest and shoulder piece, wrist braces, leather pteruges and boots, Aveline wears a long-sleeved green tunic and wool trousers.
Weaponry: This sword, and a long dagger.
Other Items: A leather folded up and kept beneath her left wrist guard, a silver necklace, pouch of coins tucked into her tunic, satchel filled with basic supplies (food, cloth strips, waterskin).

Skills: Swordsmanship, riding, worldly knowledge, tracking.
Abilities: Aveline has no special powers or magical abilities. Not that she wouldn't mind getting her hands on a magical item or two.

Personality/Goals: On a good day, Aveline is polite, kind and generally pleasant to be around. She has instilled in her a strong moral code and strives to do the right thing wherever possible. She does enjoy taking risks and pushing her limits as well, and finds herself bored without a challenge or something interesting happening. When she has satisfied her need to do something reckless, or fed her curiosity for the day, she likes a good joke, a drink and a story. She likes telling stories, too, but often bends the truth a little to make them more exciting. She's a frequent liar, and a good one at that.

Despite all this cheer, she is not terribly optimistic. As a child she was idealistic and hopeful, but her experiences in the world have dulled that considerably. She's highly impatient and will do her own thing if people seem too slow for her; she can't stand someone getting in her way once she sets her mind on something. She dislikes rules and being told what to do, and will go out of her way to break them, though not without good enough cause. On a bad day, however, if you've really wronged her, she won't stop until you pay for it.

In life, all she desires is adventure, and maybe a dash of happiness. She doesn't want glory or fame, just to discover every inch of the world, defeat evils and help people. Currently, her primary goal is to find her brother.

History: Aveline's father came from a long line of patriotic, labouring men. She and her brothers broke that tradition. From a very young age Aveline was heavily influenced by her three elder brothers, who all desired a more eventful, exciting life. As such, they watched soldiers and guardsmen train and fight, and ran to the city gates to watch groups of adventurers and soldiers return from great feats.

Soon, her brothers were training each other to fight and climb and ride horses. The youngest of the three, Castan, took the time to teach Aveline everything he learned from the two eldest brothers. As soon as she was strong enough to best him in a sword fight, the four siblings trained as a whole. They practised by apprehending thieves, chasing down bandits and aiding the city guard whenever possible. They became everyday heroes for the people in their city, and a bit of a nuisance. Her elder brothers were invited to join the army, and did so. They married, too, and Aveline found herself with two sisters in law, who couldn't understand why she would want the life she did. Castan was later invited to join the ranks as well, but turned down the offer to travel the world instead.

He made many discoveries and became very knowledgeable about the world. He wrote to her and their parents very often and whenever he was home his evenings would be spent telling stories. Aveline quickly developed a taste for exploring as well, for stories were never enough to satisfy her curiosity. After dodging arranged marriages for a short while, she convinced her parents – with the help of her brothers – to let her make her own way in the world.

She set out as a young woman to visit all the places Castan had told her about, and some new ones. She helped people wherever she went, a strong moral code instilled in her by her parents, and kept in touch with all her family. On her third trip into the world, she learned of her eldest brother's death on the battlefield. The loss weighed heavily on their family, and Aveline neglected to travel again for over a year. But keeping herself in one place, now that she had seen the world and still wanted more, made the grief that much worse. At Castan's insistence she returned to different lands.

For two more years she journeyed across the world, gathering stories of her own and working as a guard or mercenary from time to time, and forming friendships. She was happy on the road, with the occasional companion. Then she received news that Castan was missing. Her brother had last been seen heading to Valuun Keep, apparently intending to unravel its mystery. Encouraged by the lack of a body to confirm her brother's death, Aveline travels to Valuun Keep to find him.

Didn't expect the OOC so soon, but I'll have my bio up by this evening.

EDIT: Actually, got it done quicker than I thought, here's my own bio.

Also, quick question, what kind of money is used in Omeria?

Name: Serkan Stahlwurm
Age/Race/Gender: 35-year-old, half-elven male
Profession: Mercenary
Appearance:

Armor/Clothing: Serkan wears a suit of lightweight, grey-colored, leather armor with embedded steel plates. He additionally possesses a closed-face helmet which completely covers his head.
Weaponry: Serkan carries a single-edged saber that has been stripped of its cross guard, with a handle wrapped in cord.
Other Items: Serkan carries a satchel with him, which in it contains a small sum of money, a piece of firesteel, a sharpening stone, a tin of hardtack, a bundle of dried pork, and a canteen of water.

Skills/Traits: Agile, quick-thinking, observant, resourceful, proficient with single-edged swords
Powers/Abilities: Serkan is able to channel magic through his sword in order to increase cutting power of the blade. He also can use another technique where by slashing his sword he may throw cutting waves of magic from the sword's edge.

Personality/Morality: Serkan is a somber, even-tempered man who manages to keep calm and collected regardless of the situation. Serkan often conducts himself in an impersonal, almost businesslike manner, though at times he can at times come off as insistent, if not outright rude. While the way he speaks may not show it, he does care for the well-being of others, and acts based on beliefs that he should conduct himself in an ethical and moral manner.
History: Serkan was born in a peculiar, small forest village in an autumn 35 years ago, born to an elven father and a human mother. This little forest village had a tradition, where every decade the young boys and girls would be brought together and tested. Those who displayed exemplary talent and strength were selected to undergo training to become a part of the village guard; within the village's local culture, being chosen was considered among one of the highest honors.
-
Serkan, however, never quite had the same strength or natural gifts and talents that his peers had. When it came of time for him to be tested among the other children, Serkan was passed over in favor of many people who were once his friends. Yet, rather than allow himself to remain dejected, it was as if a spark was lit within him. Serkan was inspired to better himself; he took up a sword and began to teach himself how to handle one, strengthening and learning over the years. His father noticed the sudden resolve displayed by his son, and offered to help him, teaching him what little he knew about magic. By the time Serkan was about twenty years of age, he had begun to develop his own unique fighting style, blending magic seamlessly into the art of swordplay. His raw, unrefined talent eventually gained the attention of the village guard, and they offered him a chance at recruitment into their ranks, but by now Serkan no longer desired to be a member. Now Serkan had dreams of travel, of exploration; Serkan desired a chance to see the world, and to that end he left his home village to join a mercenary's guild.
-
There amongst the ranks of the guild, Serkan found himself assigned to work alongside Ferran, a master swordsman and longtime member of the guild. Ferran had been given the task of training the new recruit. The two worked well together, and became fast friends over the course of a few assignments doled out to them by the guild. They worked together for over a decade, before tragedy would forever seperate the two. About three years ago Ferran and several of the guild's other masters were hired to take part in a special assignment to escort researchers into Valuun Keep. Before parting ways, Ferran gave Serkan his sword, a gesture that Serkan did not yet know meant Ferran suspected he knew what fate would befall him. Like many others before, Ferran vanished without a trace into the maw of Valuun Keep, not a single member of the guild or research team returned. Serkan took the loss of his friend especially hard, and retired from mercenary work.
-
Yet, Serkan has heard rumors that men and women are gathering for another venture into the keep. With a chance to find what exactly happened to his master and friend, Serkan has taken the sword of his master and now ventures to join them...

Member Seen 2 yrs ago

Name: Athinar Da' Danash
Age/Race/Gender: 326-year old- almost human male. (Looks to be around 35)
Profession: Being really old and trying to make his magic better. So probably mage.
Appearance:

Armor/Clothing: Nothing special. Black robes, leather padding in the chest area.

Weaponry: Daggers, of all kinds. Throwing daggers, executioner's daggers, long daggers, stilettos... He generally keeps around 3 throwing daggers on his person at all times, but he's proficient with them all.

Other Items: A single ring, with a smooth ruby sphere set in the middle. It glows when tapped, and summons a grimoire of spells, mainly focused on flame, but does include various others, collected throughout the years.

Skills: Tactical analysis, observation, magical languages. Intelligent and calculating.

Abilities: An almost unlimited pool of fire spells, varying in strength, and spells of other elements, but those are generally weaker. He has an enormous amount of magical energy, but this is at a counterpoint with his inability to face opponents head-on in a physical fight.

Personality: Athinar is quiet most of the time, except for when he is communicating with those he works with. World-weary and jaded, he has learned to doubt the morality of others, which makes him incapable of forming strong bonds with others.

History:
Where.... where am I?

More importantly.... who am I? ....

Athinar woke up in a dark room. That's all he remembered. Nothing before that. A skeleton lied on the floor in front of the door, with several lines like scratch marks on the wood. When he got out of the bed, he spoke. Nobody, including himself, knows what he said, but the door exploded in front of him, in a blast of fire. As soon as he left the room, the skeleton still inside, he was shocked by what he saw. An entire town, aflame. Running between the buildings frantically, he tried to save the villagers, but as soon as he got close, his hands burst into flame. With cries of "Demon!" hounding him, he ran from the town. Leaving the burning village, he went from town to town, trying to find out what he was.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eventually, Athinar came to a small hamlet, a couple miles outside a city, where about a dozen bandits were attacking the population. The peasant's struggled against the rouges, but to no avail. Their pitchforks and carving knives were no match for the broadswords and bucklers of the bandits. Stepping in, he burnt the bandits to a crisp, errant power flaring. Turning to the peasant family, he saw all but one young woman quaking in fear. This woman in particular took a liking to Athinar, and they quickly fell in love. They had a family by the end of the year.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the years passed, his family grew old, and died, while he still looked young. The village suffered under the ravages of time, while he did not. Setting out, away from the painful memories, he once again tried to find out what he was. Journeying across the land, he gathered spells and trained his magical ability. He didn't have much else to do, but search through ancient tomes and temples. 150 years later, the earthquake happened. Imbued with a sense of world-weariness, he heads to the Keep to see if there's anything to do with his past.

Name: Leon Thorne

Age/Race/Gender: 23/Human/Male

Profession: Wandering Adventurer Extraordinaire

Appearance: Leon is a seasoned warrior whose body has been toned by years of training. Although he stands at an average 5’9 he is quite the force to be reckoned with. Leon has white skin with a mild tan acquired from his years of traveling. He has short black hair, kept to length so it doesn't fall into his face in the heat of battle. He has piercing deep green eyes, likened to a forest by some. Leon’s appearance is not by any means immaculate- he has been on the road for nearly a year and has a healthy layer of dirt on him.

Armor/Clothing: Leon’s attire is very much that of a traveler- draped around him is a dark green cloak with a hood that is usually pulled up around his face whilst traveling. Underneath this he wears dark pants and a leather tunic that obscures a white shirt. Leon opts not to wear heavy armor because he feels it restricts his fast paced combat style too much.

Weaponry: Leon’s primary weapons are two steel swords that he wields simultaneously. Although some fighters find the use of two swords in conjunction awkward, Leon was raised using this skill and instead finds the use of two swords advantageous. In addition to this Leon is known to carry a knife strapped to his leg in case he is ever found without his primary weapons. Additionally he has three throwing knifes strapped along his chest. He isn’t great with at throwing the small knifes, but he can hit a target at short to medium range. Making more precision or longer ranged throws are difficult for him.

Other Items: Leon carries with him a backpack that hold several traveling supplies. Among these, he has a map that he himself made of the majority of the Heartlands. He keeps several herbal remedies for various common diseases and sicknesses that one encounters in the wilderness, and some that aid the healing of minor wounds. In addition his backpack contains a canteen that is usually kept full of water, and a small amount of preserved meat. He also has a sharpening stone to keep his two swords well maintained. Dangling from his belt is small coin purse, which you can hear the healthy jingle of a small amount of money if you pay attention.

Skills: Leon is agile and uses a quick combat style that emphasizes using a combination of superior footwork, sword handling, and rapid precision strikes to wear down an enemy and target their weak points. Leon knows the Heartlands, having traveled through them for the last two years. He's sure to know at least a few people in many of the towns and villages that dot the land. Leon is also very world-wise, and knows many things that pertain too surviving in the wilderness and general adventuring. It's worth noting that Leon isn't the most intelligent person- he's not dumb, but much of his upbringing was focused on learning combat. As such, he may not grasp some concepts as quickly as others, and his little knowledge of sciences, mathematics, or magic. It is also worth noting that despite this he has a good knowledge of history and local folklore, having been brought up with tales of ancient warriors and battles.

Abilities: Leon's skills lie in the use of his weapons, not in the use of magic.

Personality: Leon’s outermost layer is that of sheer amicability. He is very friendly, and is more than eager to lend a helping hand to any and all. Because of this he has a unhealthy tendency to butt into others private business in an attempt to simply lend a helping hand. He is a sucker for the ‘damsel-in-distress’ cliche, and will definitely go out of his way to help a lady in need, or anyone in need for that matter. Besides this, Leon is usually very good at getting along with people and tries to make friends everywhere he visits. Leon has always had an unshakable wanderlust, more than likely due to his overly-restrictive childhood. Some, however, can see through Leon's outer facade. Leon is deeply depressed, although he prefers not to put his burden onto others. Leon has had a very unfortunate childhood, and blames himself for the death of his younger brother and his mother. Leon also feels regret for the murder of his father despite the fact that only killed him in defense of his brother. Above all Leon will do his utmost to protect his allies, friends, and loved ones, unwilling to feel the grief of loss again.

History: Leon’s father was a famed soldier, known for his prowess in battle and his great strength. His mother was a healer of little fame, hailing from a small village to the north. Leon inherited his father's strength in battle, but did not carry on the spark of magic his mother had. Leon also had two brothers- one older and one younger. His older brother was always aloof and distant, and was always the strongest of the three brothers. His eldest brother stringently followed their father, paying little heed for his other brother's pain. Leon's younger brother had the gift of magic from their mother and never had a strong aptitude for the sword. Despite his son's varying strengths, their father treated them all the same- he was determined they would become soldiers, and would carry on the proud family name. It was to this end that their father put them through harsh training.

Their father was a tough taskmaster, and would make his sons always work better to become stronger and stronger, often pushing them to hard. They rarely had time for leisure, and rarely were able to escape their duties, and if they did try to shirk their training they were harshly punished. Leon’s eldest brother was always their father’s favorite, being the strongest of the family, and when it came time he did enlist in the army as his father wished. Their father also had high hopes for Leon himself, for he showed the same natural talent as the eldest of the brothers, however, Leon was not interested in the soldier’s life and often tried to escape training, often leading to him quarreling with their father. Leon’s youngest brother was the runt of the litter, and faced the brunt of their father’s anger. Although his brother did try he could never satisfy him. And that was when their father's dark side came out.

Leon was never quite sure how to feel about his father- at some points he did genuinely care for the boys, but sometimes he would take his anger too far when they couldn't meet his expectations. It was for this very reason that Leon killed his father. It was a cold winter morning some time after their eldest brother had left for war. Leon and the youngest were forced to train for hours, sparring against each other, training against dummies, and sparring with their father. Leon, of course, was doing just fine with the training, but his younger brother was another matter entirely. His younger brother fell behind, and couldn't keep up with his father's harsh demands. Their father was very angry with the brother, and decided to vent his anger physically. Leon's father beat on the boy. He didn't do it often, but when he did, it was painful. Leon was enraged, and only saw red. He wanted to protect his brother. So Leon raised his sword, and struck down his father.

Leon was 17 when this happened, and on that day he left his home village and never returned. The burden of taking a life weighed heavily on Leon. He wandered for a time through the land, and eventually he found a steady living using his skills with the sword to help those in need across the Heartlands. He was determined to make up for his crime by doing whatever he could to help people. He took what people offered him, but never asked for a reward. It wasn’t until a year after that he learned his mother and brother perished in an attack on their village. He was convinced if his father was still alive, he would of protected the family, and they would still be alive. So now, with two more deaths weighing in on his soul, he continues his travels, heading towards Valuun Keep to investigate the disturbances that are taking place there..

Name: Arkadi Vasile

Age/Race/Gender: 32; Varan; Male

Profession: Axe man

Physical Appearance:
To wield his rather large axe like a toy this 6'8 is burly and sometimes has trouble in small dwellings. This man from the north has thick beard and hair the color of gold. Arkadi has a long thick scar that stretches from the bridge of his nose to the right side of his face.

Armor/Clothing: Arkadi wears a set of worn heavy mirror armor over chainmail. The northerner also wears a heavy cloak that was once colorfully decorated; now all it does is ward off the cold. Arkadi carries a pockmarked large buckler with six triangles arranged in a circle to keep him safe

Weaponry: A large axe that would normally be two-handed for most men, but Arkadi uses a one-handed grip. Like many of his people he carries a bow, although he isn't as proficient in archery as melee.

Other Items: Around his neck he wears a bone tusk that was whittled down into an idol of the Old God Perun.

Skills/Traits: Arkadi is quite strong and clever in his own way, although his superstitions can limit such cleverness. Due to his northern barbaric blood he can enter a state of beserking where the only goal is to kill as many of the enemy as possible.

Powers/Abilities: He is no sorcerer!

Personality/Morality: Arkadi treats everybody with a sense of honesty and straight forwardness you would expect of uncouth northerner. Inside he has a psychological scar and feels the need to protect everybody he can. That was an effect of an ill-fated battle during a campaign far from the fringes of his homelands.

History: As a boy Arkadi was quite big and from an early age he was known to be destined for war. As he grew older his savagery in battles became known to all the north. He became a living legend to the kingdom leading them on many conquests. On his last conquest the army and the Tsar took too big of a bite leagues from home. The battles raged on for many months before the army was forced to disband by opposing forces. After rallying a few hundred men together they began a counter attack from behind and they slew around two hundred before they were surrounded. The leader of the forces of Irlesindia had great respect for the northern axe man and spared his life. Now the general didn't have much respect for the troops and they were promptly slaughtered. All he was left with was wounded pride and a nasty scar.

Since that day it's been two years and he has slowly been making his way home trying to get back to whatever is left of his old life. Along the way he has been attacked by countless brigands, how many he doesn't know, just enough to attract attention. The attention only led to more death of the bandits and a small amount of wealth to survive the next week. Making his way to a little inn in the Heartlands Arkadi was stopped by the rumbling of ground. After word of the demons that lay underneath Valuun's Keep he wanted no part, but outside of the keep lay the inn. Grudgingly he made a pact with himself investigate the area before beginning the long journey home.

Name: Nariah Stormblade

Age/Race/Gender: 17 year old human female

Profession: Adventurer/Swordswoman

Weaponry: Longsword and Kite shield

Other Items: A pendant of protection that was forged for her by her father. She wears it at all times.

Skills/Traits: Swordsmanship, an expert in archery and horseback riding, very quick and nimble, not very strong or quick witted though,

Powers/Abilities: None

Personality/Morality: She’s a rather plucky kind of girl with the determined heart of a true warrior. Nariah stays dedicated to her cause and will fight tooth and nail to defend those she loves and holds dear to her. A bit challenged by her lack of knowledge (yes, she’s a bit dumb), she tends to be folly when it comes to thinking logically, but that’s not to say she is a complete idiot. What Nariah lacks in knowledge, she makes up for in bravery and compassion from the very depths of her heart.

History: Born in the snowy and pine covered mountain village of Dunenmer Hollow, Nariah was the daughter of Harken Stormblade, a former adventurer and the village's most esteemed blacksmith. She was a peculiar young lass. Her father would astound and amaze her greatly with tales of his many travels and endeavors, how he fought fearsome beasts and traversed vast and magical realms in his early days. So enthralled was the girl by the yearning for adventure, she would spend her many hours in the surrounding forests, swinging about a stick to the trees as if they were also terrifying monsters being slain by her sharp and powerful blade.

Harken was amused by it, but he also saw that very spark in his daughter's eye that he once held, though he was fearful to let his only flesh and blood venture from the village. Nevertheless, he taught Nariah over the years all that he knew of being an adventurer, how to fight and defend herself should the need arise, and when it was best to retreat from battle. Nariah soon became a competent swordswoman and a skilled archer under her father's guidance, but still the man was afraid to let his daughter go.

No matter how much Nariah persisted incessantly on her father letting her leave the village, Harken always gave her the same lecture, Ye are my only kin, and I am not going to let ye run off into danger, Nariah. Ye still have much to learn before I ever let ye venture from Dunenmer alone. The world is a far more sinister place, daughter. Having just a sword alone will not protect you.” It was difficult for Nariah to grasp what her father meant, blame it on her whimsical mind, yet she understood one thing….her father still saw her as a young girl. But dammit, she could fight. She knew the way of the sword, and the bow, and the shield, but her father was just too damn stubborn to let her go. Sooner or later, the old man would have to. How else would Nariah learn to grow?

Soon came the day of the dreadful earthquake. With such rancorous horror, it rattled violently the grounds about the quaint hollow and destroyed many homes. Blessed Tha'agorn no lives were lost in the chaos, but it was certain this was no ordinary tremor, neither was it the hammer of the mighty god of the forge crashing down upon the land. This was spawned of a great and immesurable evil indeed so. The villagers, they feared for their lives and for those of their kin. Someone must venture out to the source of this madness and deal with it, they said, but Harken, in his gray age could not. It was just as Harken had feared, the burden had fallen...upon Nariah.

Before he sent his daughter off with all of his love and his blessings, he forged for Nariah a sword and shield, worthy of even the finest warrior of the land, and he also crafted a suit of chainmail for her, and last but not least, a beautiful pendant which the village elder blessed with a protection spell. Finally, he said his goodbyes to his daughter. "Ye be sure to come back and see ye old man, ye hear me daughter?" Heartily he chuckled hugging tight his child, now a full grown woman and the most competent warrior of their village. She had a long journey ahead of her, and the challenges she faced were sure to be harrowing, but nevertheless, Nariah would face them head-on, for the sake of her village and....for the sake of her father.

"I will father." She replied happily embracing the stout, old man. "I'll be sure to send word of my travels as well. Goodbye father."

"Goodbye, my daughter....and Tha'agorn keep you safe."

Dasmira is a greedy woman with a love for shiny things. She is ambitious and is determined to get what she wants, especially at the expense of others. Trickery and manipulation is her main way of obtaining items, often portraying herself as weak, innocent girl in need of help. The blonde uses an innocent, anxious façade among strangers, but she secretly enjoys the misery of others. Because she is self-conscious, she likes to fool others to make herself feel superior. She has no certain goals except for getting as much money as she possibly can. Selfish, cowardly, and alone are the three words that most describe Dasmira. However, she does have her good points. Dasmira is knowledgeable, independent, and open-minded.
History:
The large city of Baress was known for its vast markets and humongous population. It was also known for the many families suffering in poverty. Ten years before Dasmira was born, Baress’s economy failed and the citizens entered a depressing time. Food was short, jobs were scarce, and water was dirtied. Dasmira’s parents, Jenima Roanoke and Hendell Oratonis, met during this period. They met on the streets while one was begging for food and the other was on his way to work. Hendell was a kind man and, seeing Jenima clutching onto the skirts of passersby, offered her the only coin he had in his possession. Jenima was a strong woman who refused to be in debt and accepted the change with reluctance. While Hendell went on with life and forgot all about Jenima, the other tried valiantly to raise enough money to give back. It took awhile, but she finally did with odd jobs and unimpressive work. It was this meeting that they actually considered each other and Hendell fell in love. The romance goes on, as romance does, but tragedy struck when Hendell lost his job due to spending too much time with his now pregnant wife.

When Dasmira was born, the city was finally getting back on its feet and people were slowly building their lives up once again; all but the Oratonis family. Hendell had grown sick and they were starving, poor, and in bad health in general. It didn’t take long for Hendell to pass. Dasmira grew up, begging now rich citizens for food and money, but receiving none. It didn’t take long for the girl to involve herself in illegal activities, especially when Jenima was showing signs of malnourishment. With the stolen goods, the young girl could afford food for her mother. When Jenima was well enough to go back to work, Dasmira was too far gone to stop. She had developed an obsession with stealing and she wanted it all. It was addicting, the thrilling pulse in her vein whilst her hand clutched onto stolen earrings, and the shimmering of the extravagant. At the age of eighteen, Baress no longer had anything to offer her and so Dasmira departed her dear mother to the outside world. She wanted bigger treasures! And so her tale begins…

@-Ace-: I know, but having to many characters can be messy. I can handle six... but 11? No way I could handle 11 characters, especially in a small-scale RP like this. From experience, I find it hard to keep up with everyone when there's to many characters.

@Everyone: I'll probably review these bios within the next few days. It's getting summer, so I get busier.

Made some small edits to my CS. Line breaks, some minor error corrections, and some changes for clarity's sake.

Probably won't have enough time to commit to this role play, so I'm afraid I must drop out. Have fun everyone.

@-Ace-: Ireth is a good character. An elven archer/healer. I'll keep her in mind because these types of characters tend to work well in groups.

@teapotshark: Aveline Ronan's search for her brother ties her to the story very good; to her, this quest is more personal than the others, and the history clearly shows how close the two siblings were.

@Arsenal: I would say gold coins. 'Coins' is an appropriate term for the moment. The Heartlands are more or less a melting pot of various cultures and races, so it's also not uncommon for their to be be various forms of currency. Serkan Stahlwurm's history, like Aveline Ronan's (teapotshark) also ties him into the story nicely, and I will keep an eye on him.

@Athinar: I like Athinar Da' Danash's wizard-like nature, and I think he'd be a great addition to the team (and that picture is pretty cool). And his skills to read magical languages has given me a few ideas for him in the roleplay (stuff that only he can read).

@Diggerton: A young adventurer who will be entering Valuun Keep, Leon Thorne is an appropriate character.

@thegreenleafe: Arkadi Vasile would be referred to as a 'Varan' in this world. I didn't explain much of the setting in the OOC, but this is part of a much larger world. Far to the north across the Frozen Sea lies Asgeir, the homeland of the Varan - who are very similar to the 'northerners' mentioned in Arkadi's post. This axe-men is a worthy addition to the team, especially since he reminds me of the Varan from Asgeir. However, keep in mind their is no village outside of the Keep - only NightRaven Inn which sits a little ways away from it.

@Rusalka: I like Nariah Stormblade, except I don't like the fact she's 17. I don't feel a human can use proper swordsmanship skills, much less be an expert in archery and horseback riding at the age of 17. Nariah would be deemed a prodigy in my book. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I don't think Nariah's age-to-skill ratio is consistent, and as such I would ask that you make her a little older, or change some skills.

@Apokalipse: Dasmira Oratonis is a good character and her trident-ropedart combination is something I haven't yet seen in a roleplay and I think it will be interesting. Although, from what I can tell, she isn't as proficient in open-combat as the other characters - which is fine though.

@Cryptiic: Sorry to hear that, hope to see you around.

@Everyone: That's 8 characters; 8 very great characters I must say. I'm sort of beating myself up because I kind of want to accept all 8 of them.... there's technically only 2 other RPers who have a reserved spot, making that a total of 10 (what with Cryptiic dropping out). Assuming we get those 2 other bios, I think I'll accept all 10 of you (*gulps*).

EDIT: And how do I change the thread title please?

We could always find a way that would make the IC more organized and easier to keep track of. Maybe a Character archive so we don't have to go looking through pages for characters? I'm sure there is something else as well we could do...

EDIT: Sorry, I don't know how to change the thread titles...

@Apokalipse: What do you mean by a character archive? Perhaps everyone could pace themselves (don't post to much unless others are posting as well?). I've only done some basic RPing in the past, this is the first time I've started doing something... 'bigger', I guess would be the word for it. I gotta say, these characters turned out a lot better than I thought. Usually I run across hundreds of "young, snarky, teens with skimpy clothing and fireballs", but these characters are much better.
