It's a story first and foremost. That's why I'm here, and why several others are as well. So disadvantageous events do not bother me.

If handled properly, I believe random events can be beneficial. Anyway, I believe my NS is mostly done. While some things are still blank, my nation seems to be at least functional.

Wow. Just kinda passed out in the sun there...Alf, Boerd, PM.Random events can be bad things - barbarians attack, bad harvest, floods, things like that - but they can also be good things - rare ores uncovered, bountiful harvest, the capture of a highly wanted criminal - and they test a leader's ability to control the country. But, as always, I am open to suggestions and ideas.I'll edit the list now. Anyone in the list can post IC whenever they want.

The problem with random events is that they rely on the one administrating them (in the case of this RP, that person being you) to know the ins and outs of the nation (s) that they're going to impact. For example, if you say that a random barbarian horde penetrates the yul's rain forest home, lays waste to some tree-top villages and then leaves with 2,000 slaves, I'd seriously question how this was done without the yul themselves first realizing that A) the barbarians were in the rain forest to begin with, B) how they weren't slaughtered by the abundance of either traps or armed persons laced throughout the yul's controlled areas or C) how the barbarians even knew they were there to begin with.

And, frankly, I don't see the point in them if this NRP isn't a stat-based/dice-based roleplay to begin with. If anything, they'll just get in the way of player-made plots and whatnot.

The Dominion also doesn't bother much with education, looking only to their faith and the lands. Only the higher castes get learning of any kind.

It isn't mentioned (but is implied), but education is not compulsory with the Daemonrexa. Hence, there will always be many Daemonrexa who weren't educated because they didn't need education. Farmers, miners and such could always make do without education, and could live properly with just an apprenticeship in their craft. However, as they have centuries to live, Daemonrexa would mostly all be eventually educated. The younger ones... not so uniformally.

Also, Hounderhowl, I've finally written far enough to mention the Hel Core. They are the 'Hillmen'.

Hi, I'm new to these forums and this is my first roleplay here (although not my first roleplay ever). I am currently working on a nation and a race, and I have a few questions I would like answered.
1- Is it ok if I join? I'm worried because as I mentioned before, I have never used these forums before so I may do something wrong, and the slot for a nation might be better used by a veteran roleplayer instead.
2- I'm thinking of claiming the top of the map at the north pole and I would like to know if it is available and if Raptorman the owner of Vyrndar doesn't mind such close borders. Just noticed that he had claimed it, but said it wasn't inhabited. Is the south pole available? And if it is, Darkraven do you mind if I inhabit it?
3- What type of nation roleplay is this? By that I mean is it from some citizen or leader of the nation's point of view, a general statistic overview and progress report of the country or something completely different?
4- What is each country exporting/importing? I plan on having a complex economy going with my nation.
5- Can I use some other nations currency, just to make trading more simple?
6- Are the poles displayed on the map about the same temperature as earth poles or is there more land to the south and north of the map?
Thanks to anybody who answers my questions.

Also, sorry if I make any mistakes with my english in any of my posts, my mother tongue is spanish.

General relations statement. With everyone but Lorenvolk and Crayven, neutral or better. Relations with Lorenvolk are openly hostile, Crayven relations are extremely unfriendly.

Also, Haz, I am thinking of having Wildlings kidnapped and raised from birth to be the personfication of Suehan valkyries. Can they be raised in my semi-civilized society, as in, is it possible?

Ah, Rare and I will have to work something out with "The Imperium," since it's right next to us. Xia Quan was previously part of Palmyong but it seceded about a century ago, and the two sides just grew tired of fighting and resolved to an uneasy standstill.
Regarding the Imperium's proximity, there's a chance it had some kind of history with our nation(s) beforehand, although a militaristic Germanic super-empire scrambles our ideas of an East-Asia feel in that part of the world.

Hmm... Haz, is it possible that our relations are practically non-existent, but with our two nations having sighted each other's ships? My nation would be busy hunting pirates and raiders near the Naqah.

This means that you'd be joining my list of nations to be contacted.

Also, I still can't wrap my head around how tiny the planet is. 7 days without sleep and rest to get from north to south? Man... It would take years for traders to get from one end of the silk road to the other back in the day...

My peoples education is only in their craft. Other wise a few do simple math while even less can read.

Where is said list?

I agree at first I didn't. But to even step foot on the mountain would spell death for those who tried to invade. My people are like stealthy ants constantly moving about the mountain doing what they're clan wills.

Whilst I took this as a compliment I am sorry to have destroyed your asian feel.
Also: If you want to contact me about some kind of history, then I'd be happy to oblige.
