An FS-9 Firestarter turns its flamers on infantry, circa 31st Century
TL;DR Summary:
- Battletech Universe, but we are diverging from the official history and having ourselves our own nation RP scenario (3025 tech level)
- 2952; the middle of the Third Succession War
- The Inner Sphere has been locked a series of brutal, technologically destructive conflicts since the fall of the Star League in 2780.
- Lots of technology still remains, but is increasingly rare and valuable, such as the decisive military weapon of the era; Battlemechs.
- Five Houses have claims to the First Lordship -- all five have made claims to it, but all such claims have been contested.
- Players will play the rulers of the five great houses and important leaders within those houses.
- No ComStar. No Clans.
- Technology has been destroyed through the highly destructive acts of the Second Succession War, where total war destroyed many technologies that existed prior and left only some behind with a few, key facilities able to produce these essential technologies.
- Warfare has become more feudal and ritualized, so too have governments become feudal, owing to the difficulties of interstellar rule.
- More information can be found here: Succession Wars History.

In Character Info:
Galactic civilization, after centuries of expansion into space, colonization and conflict between fractitious political blocs, unifies into a single government known as the Star League. After the entire Cameron family, the First Lords of the Star League, are killed in a violent coup by Stefan Amaris, the Star League fights a highly destructive war to unseat him that leaves the League without a First Lord to govern. Following the thirteen-year war to unseat Amaris, the rulers of each of the five Great Houses lay their claim as the successors to the seat of the First Lord of the Star League. General Aleksandr Kerensky, head of the Star League Defense Force, leads the bulk of his forces into the unknown reaches of space, away from the temptation of siding with one side or the other while the Inner Sphere collapses into centuries of warfare known as the Succession Wars that result in a massive loss of technology across most worlds, leaving only a few key facilities left standing.
By the Third Succession War, the fighting between the Great Houses has reduced most of the advanced technology of the Star League to the status of 'lostech'. The Third war begins with a Draconis Combine attack on the Lyran Commonwealth but soon descends into two hundred years of low-level and constant warfare as the Great Houses suffer the consquences of their folly.
It is the leaders of the Great Houses and their strongest vassals that determine the course of history. They wield the power. They can either stop the madness...or they can make it worse.

Out of Character Info:
Characters will be, as indicated, heads of Great Houses, or leaders of significant blocs within the Great Houses. Political and military power are one and the same in this era. While history runs up to 2952 as stated in the Battletech Wiki timeline (linked above and linked here) but you can invent your characters out of the blue and play them accordingly, though you should respect the historical and cultural issues of your domains.
This RP will involve warfare, but the fighting cannot be taken lightly as losses are sometimes irreplaceable. Players need to bear in mind that they are already engaged in war with the other Successor states, and there is a long list of old hatreds and unpleasantness going on. Also, there is internal strife to deal with. Have fun with that.
Here is a list of open roles, with wiki links:
- House Davion - The Federated Suns
-- Duke of Robinson (Sandoval Family), Ruler of the Draconis March
-- Duke of New Syrtis (Hasek family), Ruler of the Capellan March
- House Kurita - the Draconis Combine
-- Warlord of the Benjamin Military District
-- Warlord of the Rasalhague Military District
- House Liao - the Capellan Confederation
-- Lord of the Tikonov Commonality
-- Lord of the St. Ives Commonality
- House Marik - the Free Worlds League
--Duchy of Oriente
--Principality of Regulus
--Duchy of Andurien
- House Steiner - the Lyran Commonwealth
--Tamar Pact
--Federation of Skye
--Protectorate of Donegal
Once these positions are filled, there are ministries, major military formations and districts that other players can run. Seeing as in many cases, rebellion is a part of the game, this can make domestic politics interesting as well. I have included wiki links to the history of these sub-realms within the realms to give people a taste of the history and reasons for potential discontent.

If this RP does launch, the pace will not be fast, not given the amount of setting work that exists in the BT universe. On the other hand, we don't need to delve into the deepest details -- we shall use the wiki as the guide.
