[IC] Looking at the past- between Espatier and Aisling

[Aisling]

The guard turned and went to a window to speak to someone. Then he came back and spoke.

"Please step to the door and wait for the buzzer. When the buzzer goes off, pull the door open. Another guard will take you to a visitor room where you might be able to talk to Matt Dickenson."

[Espatier]

Lance patiently waited for the guard to "buzz" him into the visitor's area. When the time came he followed the guard to the visitor's area and then played the waiting game again.

[Aisling]

There was a row of windows with a speaker on each side. In a bit a guard went to Lance and spoke.

"Please sit at window 1. Dan Dickenson will be there shortly."

After about 5 minutes Matt was ushered inside. His hair was buzzed, grey jumpsuit, an arm band with 3 stripes and prison boots. He sat down on the inmate side.

"Hey, you are my first visitor. Aren't you the lucky one. What do you want and what ever it is, it will cost you. I get nothing extra without extra work. So money would be very much appreciated for smokes and stuff...." Matt spoke gruffly.

[Espatier]

"Well that will all depend on your answers and if they are truthful as well, so lets get started." Lance explained " What are you in for and how did it happen?" he asked the man.

Lance figured that he would let him go first before asking question to see what Matt would say. Would Matt leave out details?... things like that.

[Aisling]

"Hey dude. I know better than to answer dumb questions like that. You know why I am here. If you actually don't know then you are more stupid than you look. Now ask me something that pertains to your visit. " Matt leaned forward and growled softly then leaned back.

~I think that he is trying to intimidate you, Lance. Perhaps you should stick to your own line of questioning. Say something like you know what you are told and need verification from him.~ Linda suggested.

[Espatier]

" Well I don't know about that Matt because I'm sitting over here on the "Free" side and are stilling behind bars. So tell me again how smart you are, how tough you are as well because your going to need that pretty soon when someone that you know is going to hit you for a sex crime.

Lance just smiled

" I guess you haven't gotten served papers yet so I guess your right, I'm wrong and I've been wasting your time because you don't have to tell me nothing. So... is it still true that a rumor flies faster than you walking back to your cell?. Partner this is Texas and I know the Aryans don't like sex offenders, so how long to you think that you will last
without any help from the outside" .

Lance leaned back grinning

" Mr smart ass did you know that your old pal is getting ready to leave soon too.... what a coincident, so your the smart man. Your older now, it gets harder to defend yourself with all the youngsters that don't respect you "lifers". They have their own rules.. don't they".

" Your right.. maybe I'm dumb in thinking that someone is setting you up to have you silenced after all these years, strange don't you think.?"
Lance looked at his watch
" Mr tough guy have thirty seconds to start talking or I walk"

Lance was making a gamble but knew that Matt couldn't afford to lose this bet.
1. You have no visitors... no one give a shit about you.
2. Your White, in Texas and if you are not part of a gang then you have troubles.
3. Some man visits you, tells you that your about to get hit with a sex crime... and your still in prison for life. You then only have one choice. To go to Police custody (PC) where are the gang drop outs, rapist, Child molesters, arsonist and all the trash live.
4. Lance is betting that he will want to talk and know,who, what, where and when?

[Aisling]

"You will always be on the free side, buddy. I'll never see the outside of this exclusive prison. There is no chance for sex. This is a monastery prison. Not the normal kind of a prison. I have a 6 foot by 5 foot cell by myself with a 2 foot by 1 foot window with bars so high up that I can't even see out of it. When the door closes behind me, there is no light except from that window. Unless the door window happens to be open for some odd reason. No beams where a person can hang from. Which means there is no chance of hanging myself. I have a bed that is attached to the floor and a set of sheets and 1 blanket. I do not even get to watch tv unless i have enough merit points earned to watch what ever the warden deems fit to be seen by us inmates. No cussing allowed either. No smoking, no alcoholic drinks, no sweets, no seconds. Much like Oliver Twist. I am never full enough to say that I have over ate. Sure I get protein but not always in the form of real meat. I do penance for my sins daily, usually 1 to 3 hours a day after working for 10 hours. I get to weed the garden if I am good. Break rocks if I am not. If I am really bad, I get solitary confinement. Then I must do penance for 12 hours a day to get a slice of dry bread and a glass of milk two times a day. There is no parole for me because of my crimes. I have been here for five very long years now. I am just 29 years old and will live to be around 85. Over a half of a century to go. 56 years more or less according to statistics. My family can't stand the thought of me any more. My fiancee never said a word and is most likely is married with a child or two by now.

Dan was the lucky one and I hate the idea of him ratting me out like he did. But I do know that if I was him, well, I would have done the very same thing as he did. I now know that I should have not only not done what I did but I should have been man enough to admit that I did what I did. Maybe I could have parole one day. I messed up big time and now I am paying for the mess up for the rest of my life. I doubt that anyone set me up because I did what I did. Not everyone gets into this prison but I would like to know who gave my name to them. And who it was that arranged for me to do my time here rather than in a normal prison.

I have nothing to lose or gain. Even if you give me money I can't use it. It would go to the family's relatives. I am not allowed gifts because of the murders I had arranged. So what exactly do you want to know?" Matt spoke in a glum tone for he knew that he was nothing but a number here unless someone asked for him. Even then they most likely have to look up his name and see who he was.

[Espatier]

" Not everyone gets into this prison but I would like to know who gave my name to them. And who it was that arranged for me to do my time here rather than in a normal prison. " Matt spoke.

"Florence A. Kennedy ring a bell?... No one has seen here since the 4 star hotel. But then again what about David and Mary Preston's family?. Powerful still wouldn't you say?" Lance sat back down and rubbed his chin a bit. " Matt.. what can you tell me about Grace Sullivan in all of this mess?. Grace and Florence didn't get along because of Kevin and both wanting his affections?. " Lance leans in " Did Florence say that she was with child because of Kevin to have Grace stay away from Kevin?" Lance spoke again " Grace was given the title of salutatorian and not Florence.. anyone know why?"

Lance listen to Matt for a bit

" So what where you , Dan , Florence and Kevin arguing about that night before the punch was spilled on grace's dress?"
"How does the House of the Gaul" thing work?. Because you not a Kennedy or a Preston."

" Kevin Preston and Florence Kennedy were meant to be a powerful couple... but it looks that Kevin had other plans with grace, right?".
" Was Kevin sexually active with grace? and then Florence found out, maybe?"

Lance had alot of questions to ask!

[Aisling]

"Yeah... a sweet girl for the first 3 years of college. She pulled off straight A's so she was on the high honer roll list and dean's list the whole time she was there. Grace Sullivan was the party girl type but she had the brains as well as the smarts. Mostly A's with a few b's sprinkled out during her time at college. She did fail one class but it was an elective. Piano takes too much time and effort. Grace took the easiest classes she could find unlike Florence who majored in photography. She was excellent with taking pictures. She was going to take a job offer with some magazine. One of the arguments that Florence and Kevin had. He wanted her to stay home and play housewife and mother while she wanted to be a career girl, traveling about taking pictures. He would not stand for her to travel alone to god only knows where while he stayed home. Florence was going to get big money too from one of the magazines too. She said that she was 6 months pg with Kevin's baby and I'd believe her. After the baby was born, she would stay home for like 6 months then make short photography trips according to Kevin who scoffed at her ideas.
Grace was going to stay home and have a nanny for the children which was more to Kevin’s liking. That way he could take his pretty wife here and there…. And the children will be taken care of by the nanny, governess and then a tutor before they would be sent off to boarding school. Something that Florence refused to have any part of. She wanted to work part time and be a mother as well. She would have a live in nanny but Florence would have a big part of the parenting and wanted Kevin to have his hand in the parenting. He flat out refused to do as Florence wanted while Grace took advantage of the situation and sided with Kevin.
I am not sure why Grace was given the salutatorian but that was just a few days before the graduation. I mean Florence was the one who was supposed to be the salutatorian until like 3 days before graduation. I know that she had her speech all written up and Kevin just complained about it and put the speech down in any way he knew how. No one knew that it was going to be Grace for salutatorian until the dean announced for her to come up and give her speech. Even Florence didn’t know for she stood up when they announced that the salutatorian of the class would now give her speech. She became all shakey and pale. She flopped down into her chair. When the diplomas were given out, Florence took hers but refused to shake hands with any of the staff. And she left right after the she got her diploma.
When she arrived at the graduation party, her face was all red and puffy as if she was crying for those two-three hours that she was missing. I guess that she was very upset. Dan and I tried to stop her and make her leave. Told her leave well enough alone. I even said that I would marry her. Yeah, I liked her a lot. A whole lot…… She was a much better catch than Grace any day even though the Sullivans had more money. After the police broke up the fight and everything, I went to bed and began to think that Kevin was a fool. I was going to date Florence for real and show her how a real man could take care of her and any children even if the child was not mine. I found out around 10 the next day about the car wreck. The police came and arrested me. I regret to this day that I did not go to see Florence. Maybe I could have saved her. But no one found her body……” Matt turned his head and wiped his eyes then became silent for a minute before speaking again.
“Florence would have sent anyone to prison. Not even Kevin. She would have left and raised the baby on her own if she had to.
The ranking of the families are Sullivans being the richest in land and business; Kennedys had the oil wells, land and the money which made them a very close second. There is another branch of the Kennedy family in the Hills somewhere. Rumors have it that they made moonshine, whiskey, ect. I can’t verify that; Preston family were in politics and well known in the social circle, they spread money around here and there but never told anyone how much which leaves me to think that they were not very rich; The Rogers family is into politics and own several companies; My family just know people and have pertinent info about skeletons that are hidden away. That is how we became rich. All of us are powerful in our own ways, I guess.

House of Gaul is run by a few old members. No one not even I know who they are. We are told by the hidden I was told by notes what to do and not to do. No reasons either. Every head passes the info down to the rest of the members.
Kevin and Grace were sexually active with anyone who wishes to bed them. Once there was an orgy that they had. I didn’t go. Some things are not my style.
I hope that I covered everything.” Dan spoke quietly.

[Espatier]

" I wouldn't be surprised if Florence, changed her name and worked for a big magazine for a while. " Lance commented out loud " Has the baby on her own.... yeah".
" The Sullivans being the richest in land and business could have ....swayed the principal to let their child do the speech, don't you think". Lance listened more for a bit. " Can you get ahold of your family and assist me before Dan get's out?. Because Dan is getting out before you and well... I wouldn't be surprised that a certain lady would be waiting for him. I need dirt... can you or your family assist me?".

Lance placed his hand over his ear and the palm rested on his chin as he sat.

" I have a friend... let's call her linda and if linda was able to search of people hired as photographers, which company would I tell linda to look for? Can you remember the magazine that wanted to hire her?" Lance knew that linda was listen... he hoped that she picked up on his clue and where to look.

[Aisling]

"My family won't help you or me or anyone that won't scratch their back or palms. I don't even know where they live. I was suppose to write to them weekly as part of my penance program but they do not respond. I have another penance project instead." Matt scratched his chin and thought to himself for a minute.
"I do know that it was for some new upstart magazine that Florence got a job for after graduation. Not that I remember the name..... Never was too interested in other people's ideas and such unless I was able to use the information.......And yeah, Grace's family could like donate a large amount of money to the college for something with their name on it which would result in a possible way that Grace could have become the salutatorian. And the Kennedys would go long with it because they wanted Florence who was the baby and only girl to stay home and be the little wife like her mother. You know a trophy wife?...... If Florence had enough money, she could have had the baby and changed her name and .... wait a minute! Could she have change the name and college records to reflect her name change on her diploma? That would take a very large chunk of money and even though Kennedys has tons of money, they kept Florence on a tight budget." Matt spoke with a certian intentness.

Meanwhile Linda checked to see if there was any new magazines that just started at that time. She only found one- Best of the Out of Doors who became the top rival for Outdoor Magazine after a certain embarrassing incident and she did find who was the first photographer they hired. SHe then realized that the woman would not be the one they were looking for. The Miranda Westlake was the only photographer they had for several years and she started before Florence was out of college.
Linda relayed the information to Lance as she kept some notes on a pad next to the computer.

[Espatier]

"Matt, give me the last known address and I'll work that way to find out about your family and that will give me a chance to find out what they want or willing to sell info. who would be the most receptive to my offer, you think in your family?" Lance asked as he listened to what matt was saying. " I'll look to see who the registrar was back then and ask questions". " Maybe the company folded within a few years maybe... you can't remember anything about if it was something that she liked?. You say that you liked her, didn't you talk about things that she liked, plans that had, nothing?"

[Aisling]

"I'll slide a piece of paper under the glass with the address of my mother's mother. I am not sure if she is still alive or not. Grandmother Stevenson hates father. She would be able to tell you a few things about the family. Also I can give the family lawyers address. Let's see who else might help out. " the guard handed a pad of paper to Matt and Matt wrote down a few addresses.

~Lance see if he can have a laptop and email or not so that he can help us~ Linda suggested. ~We can foot the bill and perhaps give a bit to the prison. But we have to have special permission for giving to the prison.~

By now Matt had five addresses and emails on the pad.

"Louise Stevenson is my grandmother. The next one is mom's old email address and dad's old address. The next one is the lawyer's address and email. I also have an email but I have not even been on it since I came in here. I'd love to see if I have anything on there if possible. I have tried to be as good as I know how to be.

Florence loves animals and children as well as reading. Her favorite past time was sitting in the park watching children play or at the zoo. She honestly wanted to be more than a stay at home mother who had a nanny to watch her children while she played bridge and such things as her mother did. She actually wanted to play with her children and be part of their daily life." Matt finished up.

[Espatier]

Lance looks to the guard " How can I find out if he can be alowed to have the internet?, I'm interested in paying for the laptop and what ever else is needed , please".

Lance listened to Matt..

" I'll try books places like libraries, institutions and anything to do with early childhood development.. hummm... animals and children" Lance thought outloud. Bridge?... she plays bridge?... that might help". Lance smiled " I'll look to see if Grandmother Stevenson is still with us" lance smiled again.

[Aisling]

Guard simply nodded and went out for a minute then came back inside.

"I doubt that she would voluntarily play bridge. She did it to please her parents. She actually hated it and as well as everything connected to her old life. I can see her somehow changing her name and keeping her baby. That is one thing she would do." Matt spoke as another monk came inside.

"Please excuse the intrusion of myself. This person has been on the good list for the last several years so he can have the laptop privileges. We have internet here that he may use. If you would like to provide the laptop and accessories, then feel free to do so. He may be able to find a new position if he continues his progress." the monk spoke as he bowed low to both of them.

[Espatier]

" Well then maybe we can look at photographers employed that were female, had children and her age range. That might narrow the field as well." Lance commented to Matt so that he would have input".

as the monk came in and spoke, lance replied " I'd like to get this man a laptop asap with accessories, so how fast can I get him one?. Can I buy one here or can I have one sent in?"

[Aisling]

"You will have to buy it and bring it here in it's original box. We will make sure that it is in good shape then he may have it.. " the monk spoke quietly.

"Yeah that might work. Once I have the laptop, I can help look up things as well." Matt spoke softly as he thought a bit.

Linda began to look at various places where they could get computer and supplies close by.

[Espatier]

" So how do you feel about Dan getting out so soon?" Lance asked. " Didn't you find it strange that you were to follow these messages blindly....I mean who recruited you"

[Aisling]

"I didn't know that Dan was getting out soon. Actually I really don't know who gave this prison my name as a good candidate. I wish that I knew because I might have an idea of how to help you more perhaps. No one tells me anything about the outside world and i don't care for most tv shows." Matt spoke.
"Anything else that you wish to know?"

~I have a top of the line computer, printer and supplies ordered for Matt. It will be delivered tomorrow. Find out what kind of an email address he wants to have so that I can set it up. Also a password so he can get in. He can change after he gets the laptop.~ Linda spoke to Lance.

[Espatier]

" No, I think that I have everything that I need for now... but I would like to know what you want your email addy to be is, please." Lance asked him. " So... how do you think ... got you send here, who would be your most hated person or family?". "Oh... I think that I should be able to get you a computer, printer and some supplies, maybe early as tomorrow too",

After Matt gives lance an email addy wanted...

" tell me what your "temporary" password will be as well. So that I can make sure things are set up as well for the computer". Lance knew it would be at the magical finger of Lynda but he wouldn't know the difference.
