Liam didn't realize he was being such a whiny baby, this was just how he normally felt about living in this crap-hole of a world with his current situation. "So I guess you're pretty used to all this? Running around, without transportation. I suppose swimming would be better but who knows what's in the water," he said, looking at a sign come into focus letting them know they were only a little bit closer to their destination.

"...Well, yeah. I haven't gone this far in a while... And foot is the only way to go. Well besides swimming.." Clover shrugged, looking at the sign, then the sky, and picking up her pace. "It's too cold to swim, or I would be doing so right now.. Oh, and we have stuff that needs to stay dry, too." she added, furrowing her brows at the sign. "...What's it say?" she asked, referring to the gratified, weathered but still legible sign. "I kinda know the numbers but what else does it say?"

"The map I have, it might not be accurate now, but there's supposed to be a river connecting Portland, the place we were just at, to Salem. If we would have thought ahead, we could have gotten one of those crappy old boats down by the water and just rode the current to Salem or even past that," Liam said as they walked. He looked at the sign. "It says 'Salem, 55 miles'. You don't know how to read?"

"...Those boats don't like to move very far. And when they do, i's in the wrong direction or really slow." Clover corrected, shaking her head. "Plus, if I remember correctly, there's a kind of blockage somewhere along the way." Her eyes strayed from the sign as she cleared her throat, putting her hands on the strap. "...not really. I know a little but not much more. I... Didn't get much time to learn when I was little." she explained, fiddling with the cloth.

"Well then I guess we were better off walking anyway. Perhaps we'll find something along the way, even if it just something to carry my crap," Liam said as they walked. "If you want to learn something new, we have quite a while to walk, I don't mind teaching something if it'll fill the time. It's either talk or awkward silence for hours. Unless you'd rather I shut up then by all means I will."
