The spring day had started out well. The sun was shining down on the earth that eagerly drank the morning dew, and the many living creatures that populated the field began to slink out of their burrows and dens. Zigzagoon huffed and snuffed as they padded through the small grass, searching for food. Pidgey and other bird Pokemon chirped in the blooming trees, and bug Pokemon flitted from flower to flower and under roots. The creatures seemed at peace—it was probably due to the fact that no human had set foot in the field yet and disturbed their habitat…
Kaede made sure that she wouldn’t mess anything up as she crossed the field. She didn’t want to trample a Pokemon’s nest or blow their cover. Even though everything seemed happy and cheery, she knew that there were predator Pokemon hiding in the shadows. Maybe even a Mightyena had been stalking a bird or other small, foraging little thing. She narrowly avoided tripping over the roots of a lone tree before stepping deeper into the forest that lined the edge of the field. Am I going the right way? she sighed, glancing around. Her Snivy quietly rested on her shoulder as she muttered a curse to herself, rubbing the back of her head. Well, looks like I’m lost again. I’m going to have to camp for a bit so I can regain my bearings…
Letting a small and exasperated groan come from her lips, Kaede leant heavily against a tree and slid down to the ground. She didn’t even care if she got dirty. She was a Trainer, after all. She was prone to get dirty at some point. The female crossed her legs and looked up at the thin canopy of leaves that rested above her head. Her Snivy slipped off of her shoulder and curled up on her lap, his red eyes flicking up to her as she sighed. ”Oh Bracken, what are we going to do?” she asked, rubbing the top of the Pokemon’s head as it simply stared. ”We could be halfway across Kalos and not even know it.”
When Bracken didn’t answer (for he was a Pokemon and she was a mere Trainer), she leaned more heavily against the tree and looked down at her bag, which she had set to the side before she sat down. ”I suppose that we can have a snack.” she told her Pokemon, pulling out a few berries from the bag. Giving a few to Bracken and watching as he gulped them down. ”We have to save the rest for later, though.”
