[OOC] Dark Paradise (Supernatural Dystopian Future)

So I decided to do the TL;DR before the big post to make things a little easier for you folks.

TL;DR - (For those who don't know.... TL;DR stands for 'Too Long; Didn't read')
This story is set in a far off dystopian future. Long as time ago scientists opened a wormhole and accidentally connected our Earth with an alternate universe where all our stories of creatures that went bump in the night were actually real. They poured into our world, having picked their world dry and began to lay waste to humankind. In a last ditch effort the powers that be sent the final blow. A volley of several nuclear warheads that dessimated most of the creatures. Though the nukes also destroyed much of the Earths natural resources. The two domains came upon an agreement that they would share the Earth, what was left, and all technology and knowledge equally. Now it is nearly a thousand years in the future and this is all they have ever known. Most of the world is a waste land and all human resources and technology went to creating huge Eco-Generators to keep the world inhabitable. What the creatures offered was magic, special runes that are tattooed onto the skin and imbue specific abilities; though a lot of humans can't withstand the process and die during the inscriptions onto their skin so it is rare to see a human with Rune Tattoo's.

This story will be about a band of people, humans and creatures alike, that come together to fight against an ever growing evil force. After so many years there have been a growing group of creatures that believe they don't belong as equals with the humans and desire to rule over them. Standard stuff I know though I wish to create a unique environment for like minded people to develop and play through.

The world wasn't always this messed up, or so the stories say. There used to be lush forests and the majority of the world was covered in water, but that's hardly the case now. Few tree's or bushes scatter the face of this new earth with few area's lucky enough to have a field of trees, though no larger than a coliseum, with the Worlds water now down to half the percentage of what it used to be. Sounds like not even heaven could beat the beauty of what was lost, what we were left with some call hell on Earth, I just call it home. The people who survived before the 'Fall' have passed away nearly a thousand years ago though their stories still remain, unsure how much is true. The story goes that Scientists trying to create a worm hole to another dimension or universe finally struck gold, but what came forth from that worm hole changed the face of this world. Coming forth from it were creature's and races our kind had never seen, so many beasts and vicious things came and just spread like a plague, killing all and taking claim to regions as their own.

The threat was so dire that the Nations of the old world had no choice but to use their most lethal of weapons, Nuclear Warheads, on the invading creatures and killing off a large amount. But that was a doubled edged sword for what happened to the Earth could not be repaired. The leader of what was left of the humans and the king of the other Realm came to an understanding and a treaty of peace to share this new earth as long as they shared their technologies with each other, Humans science with the beasts magic. That was one problem solved, the next was the crisis of the lack of forestation to produce breathable oxygen. So it was a race, find a solution before the world has no breathable air. A couple years later they constructed large dome like buildings called Eco-Generators that produced oxygen and water along with a bit of isolated land to grow crops. Supposedly the scientist studied the remainder of the plants and found a way to take their natural means of the conversion and turn it into a chemical and mechanical process, gotta love those tree huggers.

The rest of our survival was based upon scrounging for food and water where we could, and luckily the other realm brought along animals that scour the land which means a lot of meat, though hunting those vicious animals down was a hassle all on its own. But that was my world, a world of scattered towns and refuges with scarce water and a predator-predator relationship with our food. But now a new threat arises. A group called the Rebellion, a militia of creatures, now wants to stake claim of the Earth and clean it of it's human pests. Though Humans are the only race threatened many creatures stand to defend them, having found solace in the new world and friendship in humans.

General Information:

Hider

-Guns are a pretty common thing though bullets are INCREDIBLY expensive. Most people often carry medieval weaponry for personal defense with a pistol for the absolute last resort.
-Feel free to create any race you'd like OR use an already established creature from lore. Your choice. Though if you create a race place fill out a race sheet. That will be provided separately.
-As said Magic Runes are incredibly taxing on the human body during the inscription so a lot of people die from it. So if you want a human with magic runes don't over load them. I MIGHT accept a character or two that are humans with a lot of runes but it better be a very well made character lol. If your character is NOT human they still need runic tattoos to perform magic.
-Magic Runes are very specific in their capabilities. You can't have a single rune that does multiple different things.
-If you want to create a gun slinging bad ass you need to justify how he or she came upon such a surplus of ammunition.
-This is a desert world, there are hardly any forest regions left so take that into account when playing/creating your character.
-Think of this world as a Mix of Old West mixed with high fantasy. Sort of like Tatooine from Star Wars.

Technology:

-Because this is so far in the future there will be futuristic elements though it will be rare. Most items were scrapped for material to make the Eco-Generators but some things are still around.
-Transportation: There are hover bikes but again, incredibly rare and expensive. The People who own one are either very rich or stole them. Most people travel either on foot or a tamed creature large enough to carry them.
-Cell towers and satellites no longer exist. Most communication is through land line phones or radio.
-There are some Androids and Cyborgs still around. Mainly those who look the most human. Because of their unique power system they are often kidnapped and dismantled for parts. So often they hide their true identity and claim to be human. Those who are obviously not Human and not kidnapped usually have a larger importance or heavily protected because of their knowledge base.
-Anything else just ask and I will let you know.

Inscriptionists.

Inscriptionists are the small creatures seen above in the image. They are the creators of runes and the creatures your characters will seek out to receive said runes. They have small shops scattered throughout Earth. Most shops are owned by rather average Inscriptionists and usually located in towns. Finding a powerful Inscriptionist is a rather daunting Task as they could be ANYWHERE and they often don't display their true potential as they don't want people constantly poking around begging for strong runes. More often then not powerful Inscriptionists will have a small shop in the middle of nowhere with their own mini Eco-Generator just to fill their shop with renewable oxygen. Because the creatures are rather immune to the harsh environments in the wastes they don't mind the high radiation and painful UV rays. So a human making it to their shop is dangerous.

Powerful Inscriptionists often have a lot of pride in their work and will be hard pressed to give such power to any random joe schmoe. They will need serious persuasion to place a powerful Rune unto a host. So if you want a powerful rune simply explain how you found an Inscriptionist powerful enough and how you convinced them.

Personality:
Zief, as the leader of the Halterra Legion is not one for many positive personality traits. He is rather serious and vicious. He tends to have little room for forgiveness to those he believes stand in his way. Cutting down those who dare oppose him with little mercy. He is a very dominant leader, looking down upon all others as if they were mere pawns. Because he thinks they are only pawns in his journey to stake claim over the weak humans. Some would say Zief is rather bloodthirsty, occasionally seeking out reasons to kill a person whether justified or not.

History:
Not much is known about Zief life except a few public details.
-Zief came into power in the Halterra Legion over twenty years ago.
-Since coming into power he has lead other twelve raids over small towns wit seemingly little effort.
-Zief's Halterra Legion holds over 3,000 loyal soldiers with over 500 human slaves used in the front line.
-Most believe Zief killed the previous leader to assume power, but the validity of that is known.

Race: A race from another realm called the Lliandrii.

Personality:
Serious with a violent temperament. His race are known for being straight speakers who do not lie and who do not joke. As a result, humour and sarcasm is often lost on Vale. Also, being of Lliandrii royalty, he feels himself superior to most others, and has the sense of self confidence to pull it off, as well as the physical prowess. But underneath the arrogant, serious and violent demeanor, there is a creature who just wants to prove that he can do it himself. To prove that he is capable. To prove that people can rely on him, and not the other way around.

History:
Since he was Lliandrii royalty, he was taught from an early age the ability to fight (As strength and power is key in the Lliandrii hierarchy.) However, his over protective parent figure (a rare trait among Lliandriians), called 'mother' in reference to the term the humans used, feared for him and limited what he could do without others being around to help him. While he loved his 'mother,' he hated being reliant on others, and unable to prove himself. As he came of age, his coming-of-age test came upon him go out into (insert inhabitable desert waste here when map is up) to find the inscriptionist who lives out there, and get two inscriptions. (2 is considered the number of power in Lliandriiian minds) despite the protests of his 'mother.' Jumping at the chance he went to leave as she handed him what was called a pistol, five shots in the barrel. She told him to use it for his safety. He took it begrudgingly.

Out in the desert, he found the inscriptionist without too much hassle. The inscriptionist told him that it required a sacrifice to give him what he needed. It wanted a Lliandriian of its own. Nodding, Vale went to bring it some degenerate. As he turned to leave, he didn't see the inscriptionist smile as he said 'the next Lliandriian to walk into here counts as your payment.'

Unbeknownst to Vale, his 'mother' had ventured after him. As she crested over a sand dune, she just missed seeing him walk over another one. Gingerly she slipped into the shop of the inscriptionist. Vale heard a voice in his mind say 'your payment is complete.'

Running back over the dune, he went back to the shop to see dead bodyguards by the door, and his mother in the arms of the inscriptionist. It smiled at him and told him to hold out his hands. Not wanting anything to happen to his 'mother,' he did so, and with a blinding pain, two marks were seared into his flesh as he fell to the floor, 'Powers worthy of a prince, who does not 'think' but 'acts''

When he came to he was lying in the desert, inscriptionist and 'mother' gone. In a rage, he spent ages in the desert looking for them, to no avail. To this day, he just wanders, hoping to find some hint or trace of them.

Personality:
Victor is a proud individual with little to no respect for others. He is not "cool" or "bad***" by any standards, but has a strong distaste for other people. He is terse and condescending, yet must be respected as the brilliant academic that he is. He tends to think carefully about each of his decisions before making them and is willing to shoot someone for no other reason than attempting to act before he was finished thinking. Victor does not work well in groups and is antisocial. He is unsympathetic with no bedside manner and sees admitting to pain as a sign of weakness. As such, he will ignore injured comrades and neglect his own injuries.

History:
Victor was born in the south-eastern town of Treya, born to rich parents who paid for him to be educated in an ecodome. Showing proficiency in the general maintenance course, he was given the honour of studying under one of the top scientists, where he learned physics and chemistry. This knowledge became essential to his life when one day, part of the ecodome was stolen by bandits. Victor was able to modify the existing system into a much more efficient system, both obviating the need for the part and saving the lives of many. He was promoted as head engineer in the ecodome and was celebrated amongst his colleagues (it had been decided not to reveal the incident to the nearby town due to the unnecessary panic it would cause). His glory was short-lived, however, and he was fired when it was found that he had stolen the part for the construction of a hoverbike for himself. Without his job, he fled to the desert of Mih where he has begun to experiment with alchemy and with refining some of Earth's last natural resources - in an attempt to launch Earth's technology once again. His results have been mildly successful with his recent discovery of the creation of metals using magic (que inscriptionist) and the creation of explosive powder from radioactive dirt.

A large, metal, bolt-action sniper rifle. 3x5 round clips of homemade ammunition (very low grade and damage, with poor accuracy and irregular flight paths; the creation of such is also dependant on magic - an ability he does not possess), a camouflaged coat, one week's rations, water trapping equipment, 1 small pistol with 1x8 round clip of real ammunition (stolen from the guards at the ecodome).

Transportation:
Has a hoverbike, but lacks the fuel to effectively use it. Is trying to derive a liquid version of his gunpowder.

Personality:
During his Human years, Aaron was known as a philanthropist, always seeking ways in which he could help others and the environment. He loves Earth and the idea of life itself. While he retains such philosophies as an Android, he can be somewhat colder than he was as a Human, more single minded and more frightening at times. While he obviously has a human mind, he, too, obviously has an Android body.

History:
The O’Nidas family, in times past, were incredibly rich Humans who were some of the main supporters and funders of the Eco-Generator project, to which they paid billions in order to keep the planet alive. The profit is said to have returned to them tenfold, but the true figure was never publicly released. Aaron, as the last living descendant and the inheritor of such vast wealth, set about continuing his family's legacy and finding ways in which to cure the world of it’s irradiated predicament. Working day and night in the lab and the engineering bay to find a way to produce clean water and clear the irradiated zones, he contracted radiation poisoning after too much exposure himself.
The man feared death immensely, and the rest of his wealth was squandered on building an Android body for himself, into which he devised a way to upload his consciousness into the hardware. After these events, not much is known about A1, he has kept his presence unknown and is thought to wander the world in search of ways to heal it. Aaron’s android body is designed to look and sound completely human, as he wishes to remain inconspicuous and unknown. Androids who go public do not last long in this world.

Transportation:
Aaron travels the land on foot. He required no method of transportation other than his two feet. It’s slow, for sure, but reliable and inconspicuous.

Skills:
Aaron is a capable fighter, should the need arise for such confrontation. His Android nature means he can hit incredibly hard in a close range fight, but he prefers to defend himself from a distance using his crossbow, which he can use to brutal effect given his enhanced eyesight and targeting capabilities. He also has a expert knowledge and science and engineering; his one true love. He is very mobile and hard to kill, though he will go through all necessary measures to avoid combat, and is very slow to anger.

Strengths:
+ Increased Mental Faculty by way of electronics and cybernetics instead of biological neural cells. Has heightened reflexes, vision and analytical powers that transcend what would normally be possible through nerve impulses and regular synaptic connections.
+ Heightened Physical performance. Due to his Android Body, Aaron is capable of performing inhuman displays of his prowess, including being able to exert over 1500lbs of force through each arm and shrug off glancing blows from physical attacks, including small calibre bullets in non-vital areas. He is also capable of moving extremely fast thanks to motorised joints and powered limbs.
+ Aaron, being an Android, is not affected by poisons, radiation, hunger and thirst. Does not fatigue.

Weaknesses:
- Emotionally stunted. Although his consciousness is technically human, and he can recall what it is like to experience emotions such as love, pain and sadness, the lack of hormones in his system means he cannot actually feel such sentiments, merely empathise.
- Power requirements. Aaron’s Android body requires immense amounts of power to continue to function. This level of power is provided by tiny fusion reactor chambers where his heart would be, which must be maintained and potentially replaced annually to prevent catastrophic damage and data loss. The lifetime of such reactors is supplemented through solar absorption through tiny solar cells in the dermal layers, meaning that many of Aaron’s functions are unable to accessed at night and in low level conditions in order to preserve reactor longevity.
- Aaron’s body does not heal and regenerate like a biological organism. If he is damaged, his wounds can only be repaired by engineers and mechanics who are trained in Android engineering. Few such individuals exist, even less make their presence known.

1. I understand as an Android he is capable to punch with extreme force but I am thinking that 3,000 pounds of force is a bit much. I did a little research and saw that a professional super heavyweight boxer had only been able to reach 1,066 pounds of force so I think it would be fair to drop it down to 2,000 would be more than adequate :)

2. I appreciate you wanting to give your character good weaknesses but I think a bi-annual core replacement is a bit extreme lol The power cores are quite powerful and very good with maintaining their sustainable power source. I think 3-5 years would be more accurate. Though if you wish to keep the bi-annual replacement that is fine :) Just my two cents on the matter lol

So only change the punching power a bit and everything should be fine :D

Around his 14th birthday he moved south to his mothers apartment in one of the bigger settlements of Oden. There he began fooling around with some street gang, eventually things got bad, and he ended up getting his hands brutally chopped off and his mouth was cut open from ear to ear, leaving him with a permanent eerie smile. Within days he was back with his father in the vast nothingness of the northern territory, he began work immediately on his sons hands and eventually rebuilt him a new set of hands. Noah's father found a rather powerful Inscriptionist and spent his fortune on making sure his son wouldn't be overpowered like that again. The Inscriptionist gave Noah a telekinetic rune on the back of his skull leading to his cybernetic fingertips he was around 17 when he was givin this rune and he is still sometimes tormented by nightmares of that night in that creatures home.

Runes: Base of skull sprawling to his fingertips||The rune is around 4 inches across in a swirling pattern with ten ends each leading his fingertips, leaving five lines spiraling to around his arms.|| Telekinesis within a ten foot radius.

Items: Noah carries a quarter-staff everywhere he goes and tends to where tailored shirts and vest under his tan leather trenchcoat. A few gadgets he's constructed in a small leather satchel.

Transportation: His father being wealthy had bought him a small hover bike for his 18th birthday though its extremely unreliable, and he almost never uses it and only in emergency situations.

Skills: Expert in most technologies, skilled in close quarters combat, telekinesis

Strengths: hands are cybernetic allowing him to plug himself into most systems, and giving him a little extra strength in the flick of his wrist making his staff very powerful.

Weaknesses: Any talk of his father tends to send him over the handle, and obviously he could do anything at all without his hands.

Likes: Justice, technology, money, peace

Dislikes: Hostility, questions, and prejudice

@Kage; Looks good so far! But what are the limits to his telekinesis? As in how heavy of objects can he manipulate? How many objects at one time?

His Max limit on objects would be ten small objects, at most when he focuses on one point 200 to 250 would be his Max. He couldn't overpower a group of people though if he's quick enough he could hold them atbbay tell he has the chance to escape.

Mainly just the big baddy and the NPC's that you run into. Though often you can just GodMod the NPC's but if you need information they might have you could PM me and add it to your post with the NPC lol
I was considering creating a character to join the good guys though I haven't decided yet lol I need to wait and see what kind of time I have on my hands. :)

That sounds good :D Accepted. Will add you to the roster. Also, you don't have to but can you add a description of your character in your character sheet? You gave some basic features throughout your CS so it's not necessary lol
