History: Since Henry was young he wanted a Pokemon but his family couldn't afford to have one on top of the rest of their bills. Instead he began to study pokemon and read books and articles on training and how they interact in the wild. When he was around 10 he decided that Prehistoric Pokemon were his favorites and hoped that when he could be of age to be a trainer that he could get a fossil. Unfortunately for him the town where he lived gave out (insert stater set) as the starter Pokemon. On top of that his parents were worried about his saftey, even with a Pokemon, due to a Salamance attack on two children that left one with scars. So he waited and went to school and on occasion helped local trainers by refereeing and at times helping a few close friends by mentoring their Pokemon. He got a job at 17 and saved his money untill he was able to buy an Anorith fossil from pokeBay and his parents as a gift paid for it to be revived at the Cinnabar island facility. His adventure should begin any day as the Anorith is set to arrives in it's Pokeball any day now...

Why limit our starters? This is the 'real world', where we could potentially get a lot of different Pokemon from family or friends or bought from breeders.
It is a simple, packaged dynamic. Most people can tell how a Grass, Water, or Fire Pokemon starts. I'm not expressly against using a non "starter" Pokemon as your first, but the three will be available in this particular setting. We can discuss what you intend to use, if you would like.

The book implies that we can make our own background as long as it follows the "lower one raise one" scheme. In fact, the ones listed are marked as samples.

A recluse that became a stranger to his own family. Always shying away from people, Narkham chose instead to spend time observing Pokémon in the wild. He learned much about Pokémon and became quite fond of them. More recently, Narkham noticed an injured Pokémon. Out of concern for it, he went to examine the wound and do what he could to help. As he approached, he felt an odd power within him, and watched as the wounded Pokémon was miraculously healed. Narkham decided he must learn more about his power to heal—and while he’s at it, he will use his power to heal his very own Pokémon companions.

It has a zero ability Not Skill. You have zeros next to skills when skills start at 2 being untrained, 1 is pathetic, 3 is novice

it looks like she just put the rank names (untrained or novice or whatever) instead of the rank numbers, and the thing in parentheses is just the modifier from body/spirit/mind.
Lurinco, I can't get a clear depiction of what exactly you're going for, mechanically anyway, and it seems a bit to meta-human, which is something I'd trying to avoid.
