Welcome to the content of Athara. Let me take you on a quick tour of our Home.
Let us start in the north, a blasted realm of ice and snow, there is little that lives here, though to the western fringes of this icy mountain range the forest does encroach. the only things you are likely to find here is cold and death. To the east now, the civilized world of Athara, cities, villages and small farmsteads range here, drawing from the fertile land. This is only a small part of our world, less than 20% one could say, yet it holds the greatest population of humans. and almost all of them worship The goddess of cleansing light. Ah yes. her. we'll come on to that in a moment. Now. on to the real interest of our tour. The wood-sea This forest covers the western and southern parts of our world said to be planted in the first days by the old gods. they stretch over 2 kilometers in height and are often thicker than a house. and it is within this forest that the Dark Bastion lies.

Now, on to the goddess of cleansing light. she is a 'human only' goddess and even then only for those without magical powers. all others supposedly have to be 'purged' from this world. and those that have survived have retreated to the Dark Bastion. This structure fills the Wood-Sea. huge tunnels half sunk in to the ground hold massive market villages, miles wide, and hundreds of thousands long these tunnels connect massive towers of black stone. and within each one are enough houses to hold an entire city, spiraling upwards right towards the top.

Welcome to our continent of Athara.

So, This RP will have us playing the creatures in the Dark Bastion. You can play anything that isn't a 'holy' or 'rightious' creature, so warlocks are ok, as well as wizards but clerics and paladins aren't. Feel free to use any mythology, or just make one up. so long as it could be considered 'wrong' in the bounds set out above. However I am sorry to say there will be no rebellion against the oppressive religion or valiant last stand. This RP is about playing out the lost, forgotten, misbegotten and wronged creatures that are perceived as 'evil.'

Everyone will be in the same tower, The name of said tower is Blood Moon Tower. all the rooms are about the same size as a 3 bedroom flat.
Now, on to the Black Bastion itself. the top of the tower itself just about hits the clouds, the name of the tower comes from the massive lunar-capacitor at the top (its a huge set of mirrors that focus the magical energy of the moon in to a liquid). The Bastions themselves appear to be somewhat active, if not alive, For instance, while the care not for politics or fighting within the tower itself if any other tower or group of people were to lay siege to a tower it would lock itself down, rendering itself impregnable to all. These towers are intrinsically linked with the forest, if one was wanting to invade a tower they would need to cut down the entire forest, and well. that'd kill you, the forest protects itself. Within the towers Clans guilds often form, Guilds are of people with similar skills, so mages, assassins, ect. where as Clans are often just groups of people who work together. (these don't take much head in the story, you can just use them to enhance your writings). the tower itself does not have laws really, but there is a air of respect and lack of outright hostility. fights are fine, as challenging another to a duel, however, unless it was pre-agreed maiming and slaughter are not allowed, and those who break such rules often find themselves without the support of others within the tower, and unable to join guild or clan. Towers do not have a leader, just as the entire Black Bastion does not have a king. it is a 'free court' so to speak. That is not to say that some people try. its just that most people don't listen do them. Oh sure there's gangs and the ilk. but in such a power-dense area with more creatures who could blast you in to oblivion than you can shake a stick at they often don't get far.

Personality; Roxy is very aggressive. she doesnt like people in her space. Roxy tends to get violent when she is pissed off. Roxy is very pointed. She will tell you exactly what she is thinks.
History; Roxy doesn't talk about her past very much. When asked she will say she came to Baste to get away from her past.
Powers/skills; Roxy has the ability to control weather. She is particularly found of her lightning spell. Roxy is also an expert knife thrower.
Common Inventory; Roxy didn't take much with her when she left home. She carries 10 throwing knives, her spell book, and a bag of extra clothes.

Race; Fallen Dragon
Race Explanation; he’s the messed up offspring of the forbidden union of dragon and deamon.
Personality; Shiro is warm and friendly, happy to help. However he runs by the creed ‘I won’t start it, but I will finish it’ Meaning that he holds grudges for far to long and often makes sure people won’t get back up if they challenge him. He’s gained a bit of a reputation as being quite dangerous if provoked.
History; He was left in the northern hills as a child. Hardened by the cold and learning the art of survival through growing up in such hellish conditions he soon found himself wondering widely through the northern areas, in such an area he found his first blade, stolen from a dead warrior he still has no idea what on earth it is made of, just that it hasn’t needed sharpening and still hasn’t rusted. Towards the ages of 18 he made his way deeper in to the south, finding more and more things of interest, eventually encountering some paladins who managed to brand him with a sealing mark before he escaped and made his way to the dark bastion.
Powers/skills; due to the sealing brand most of his powerful magic has been locked away. For now.
Survival skills; anywhere in the world, with anything and he’ll be fine.
Flight; he has wings after all.
Dark magic; due to his demonic blood he has access to most black and dark magic spells. Even if they are somewhat limited right now.
Elemental magic; same as above but due to his draconic blood
Hand to hand combat; most of his swordskills come from fighting wild beasts, so he doesn’t know the nuances of it but will still put up a fight.
Psi-armour; his mixed blood makes him highly resistant to Psychic attacks of most forms, and often lash back out (without his control) at the attacker.
Flame proofing; all dragons are fire proof, he is no different.
Shadow-kin; due to his demonic blood he is often called ‘one with the shadows’ meaning that like some undead shadow magic has almost no effect on him, however unlike undead It won’t heal him, you need normal healing spells for that.

Common Inventory; Shiro will often have his blade on him, along with a pair of smaller daggers he uses as back up, other than that he’ll have a pouch of money and a small belt pouch of useful bits, often consisting of a few of everything including throwing weapons. He also has a survival kit which has everything one would need to live in the wilds.

Name; Raphaezel

Race; Lich, formerly human
Race Explanation; An undead human necromancer, who's greed for power and eternal life transformed him into what many would call a monstrosity.
Personality; Raphaezel is what one would expect from a Lich. He is greedy, self centered, and without emotion. He is not a mindless horror however, despite his otherworldly appearance. The Lich is quite intelligent and calculating and values the pursuit of knowledge and power above all else. If it benefits him in his quest for these, he will not hesitate to kill you or use his necromancy to twist you and subjugate you as an undead minion. However he does tolerate the existence of others within the Bastion, procuring from them what he needs to further his studies. Raphaezel considers his undeath a great blessing and looks down upon the living as though they were inferior.

History; His human name is long lost to him, as well as his experiences and memories as a living person. Raphaezel knows only his power and his undeath. He was once a human sorcerer of some renown and benign in all regards until a touch of dark magic drove him to study the arts. The drive became an obsession as he turned to Necromancy wholly, consumed by the desire for power and the allure of eternal life. Sometime in the twilight of his mid life years he discovered the means to gain eternal life that he may further his power. Thus he began the ritual that would snuff the life force from his body and kill him… only to rise again as a superior being of undeath. The need for food, water, air.. these mortal chains no longer bound him nor the weight of time. Unshackled from his bonds he took on the name Raphaezel and for the last two hundred years he has struck fear into the hearts of the bravest men and women. Naturally there are few places a being such as himself would be accepted in the world. It was not out of a need for community or acceptance that lead him to the Bastion but his pursuit of knowledge. What could he learn from the other dark denizens of the Bastion? he would find out. That was nearly half a century ago, he has been a prominent citizen ever since.

Powers/skills; He is a master of Necromancy. Death is his very existence and he commands the dead as if they were extensions of his own body. Raphaezel is also quite adept at elemental sorcery, such as fire, ice, and lighting spells.

Common Inventory; A spell book, although many of his spells do not require the book, more complex rituals need time to prepare. His staff. Like the book, Raphaezels spells do not require it but the staff is an excellent catalyst for simpler spells and a great asset for larger rituals.

Please Note; while this is a gathering place for every creature under the sun that probably wants to kill each other, There is a air of tolerable respect, you don't maim one another unless in challenged combat. you don't kill one another, no taking over anothers mind ect. while there aren't set laws about this if you don't abide by them you quickly find yourself without support from the other inhabitants of the Bastion. that dosn't mean you're not allowed to fight, it just means you can't rip the other guys arm of and beat him senseless with it.

Race Explanation; He is an Ork! Green, big and bulky, ya know! Sure you say I know Orks but did you also know that Orks are degenerated Elves? Hah I bet you did not! See some are smart, some are dumb. Mostly the dumb and strong ones are smashing the smart ones but there is a rare chance that an Ork will be both ! Zurgh is such an example!

Personality; Zuhrg is rather smart, one can often fins him reading or chattering about philosophical questions with other but that is only one aspect. For those who think that Zuhrg would be weak then, that he would love kitten and puppies and stuff....well he would probably strangle you with your own guts. He is murderous and strong and what he likes least is talking behind his back, so never ever get on his bad side.
Aside that Zuhrg is a nice and friendly orc, often found caring foe his comrades and asking if they are allright. He rules over his tribe with strength and care and so is a feard orcish warlord who gathered many tribes under him.

History; Zurhg spent ages on this world and had been many things, he started as a robber, went to be a pirate and then lead a band of Orcs. He was one of the most feard persons in the whole country and that through many decades and times. Once there was even a child rhyme how Zurhg and how he would dismember you if you would not go to sleep. He is famous and know for his brutallity and tactics.
Sadly times changed and Zurhg was not as feared as he used to be. People mocked him and said "Oh not him again! He is so last century" or "Hey bring my grand grand grand pa, he onces survived him ". Those people made fun of him and that destroyed him.
So what does a orc do! Yes he builts a home for himself and cries like a baby and that was what Zurhg did.
He headed into the forest and built a tower. A tower made of black stones...accidently the tower was built directly aside the Dark Bastion. Quickly the tower itirgated into the already existing system.
Quickly the city like tower filled itself with orcs from Zurhg´s as well from other clans. Roughly this tower exist for now than more than 100 years and it´s population is now over 200 creatures where the procent of greenskin would be roughly counted around 75% and now even dark elves, humans and other beings are livingly happily and smoothly together in this tower which is not the biggest but by far one of the most civiliced ones. Zuhrg is herefor the !voted! mayor, he is directing conflicts with other towers and internal conflicts as well even thou they are more politic based than anything else. All in all he is loved by the people of the so called "Green mile" but feared by those who oppose him.

Powers/skills; Zurhg had decaded and centuries living in this world and he spent this time to be a master of....well what excatly? To be true he is a good fighter but that would not mean that he is a master of swordsplay or an ace in shooting. In fact he´s skilled with every weapon and know how to use every one of them fairly. May it be something exotic like a Katana or something as rudimental as a club.
Zurhg greatest power or rather skillis therefor his knowledge, he had lived through many battles, wars and fights and so can progosticate how an enemy will react, sure he still learns the one or other thing but the dance of battle changes quiet rare. He knows how to act to seem slow and dumb and often countrs the enemy attacks to them fully strip of any superior feling they eventually had before.
Also in his years of a clan leader he learned many tounges. May it be elvish, human, black tounge or even eldric, the lost language of mages, he had time and the needs to learn them and it comes quiet handy now a times.
Zurgh is still an orc and one of the most powerfullst in fact, his strength is to be considered since people saw him breaking bones like wigs or shattering stones with his bare hands, he´s powerfull, he is strong so do not piss him off kay?

Common Inventory; Mr. Fluffy-butt: Mr. Fluffy-butt is Zurhg´s trusty mace, it followed him through many battles and it is made from the bones of a long extinguished tiger like race, with giant tooths. The bones are hardend beyond the hardness of steel and the edges are sharp and still cutting. Yet this mace is heavy and the mixture of cutting and smashing makes it hard to handle but for Zurhg it is the best weapon and he is deadly with it.

A leaher pouch: A simple leather pouch filled wth many coins of many centuries.

A Cross-bow: This one is rarely used but also one of Zurhg´s greatest treasures. It is a heavy cross-bow able to fire 3 bolts at the same time, a human would have problems simply carrying it and it´s for Zurhg the special something against annyoing archers or bold wizards.... they all sused to be great untill they got a bolt to the knee....or rather 3...all across their body....

I'd rather not have a Char having made the Black Bastion, as it gives them unprecedented rule and power. also the bastion is intricately linked to the forest itself (spoilers). but other than that I'll wait till you've finished up with it.

Probably going to go with a vampire subspecies with blood magic or something.

I'm quite fine with this with the exception of the combat with other towers, while I agree there is 'polotiks' going on all the time, there is no outright fighting between the towers. simply because last time it happened the towers locked down, no one could go in or out.

Also I'm about to re-edit the first post. so you guys might want to keep an eye on that.

Race Explanation; Standard Halfling that usually dwells underground, expert thieves, good at picking locks and surprise tactics.
Personality; Antisocial, tends to get into and out of trouble without much effort. Might come off as too quiet, but usually thinking through problems. And ya, if he's running, no small feat, it means something's going to happen.
History; Known both for his ability to steal and "borrow without permission", has a record with the existing government as a hit man, enjoys what he's hired to do, and the government is still in the dark on his Psionic tendencies. Can use some fun things like Ego Whip, Mind Flayer attacks and Acid Manipulation, while honing tactics like two dimensional form, shadowform and feeblemind attacks. Got thrown in for trying to kill a senior official of the local sect.
Powers/skills; Psionic adept, Memory, small bladed weapons. specialized as an assassin, typically will hit sites after studying them, sometimes will seek out help as a last resort. misjudged due to appearance, but quick. High levels of dexterity, and can render himself invisible to low and mid-level characters, baring a perfect save.
Common Inventory; has only four throwing daggers and his black shadow armor, everything else was yanked off of him before throwing him in.
Appearance; Looks like a walking hairball with feet, the Armor helps give him some semblance of a small human shape. grey eyes, black hair, big feet, but mostly covered in black coarse hair. Might explain why he prefers to be in 2d or shadowform

Well, think low and mid level for the ahem, good guys...he's a little antisocial, but I think it'll be more of his working with the people, that'll break that habit. Otherwise, fun...i'll take the xl hoodie with team logo.

I think my Lich would top the antisocial charts :P but he's nothing if not pragmatic, if interacting with others would gain him more than killing them, he's willing to put up with an annoyance to further his knowledge.

Heh, it seems a little too much like a biker logo to me but as of now i have nothing better so I'm game. Also, Light, i just read your first post in 'The Shift' about dimensions… and it blew my god d**m mind. After the first paragraph my brain just exploded with steam pressure...

wires, thorns, spikes and even hooks for the heads of dead foes.
