[OOC] Gladiators

As the poor of rome begin to grow angry at the people who leave them in there terrible state, the men of the government create stalls that feed them grain and entertainment to calm them down. One of the many ways they did this was through gladiator battles. Men fighting each other, animals or chariot races whatever the crowd wanted they gave it to them, but what the people watching didn't realize was that the men who controlled the country began to fear the men who won victory after victory in there battles, becoming great warriors better than many men in the military. Seeing that the Gladiators were slaves, underclassmen and criminals, they saw a revolt in the making. They knew they had to take out anyone who was becoming to strong, if it meant assassination, cheating in the battles, or pitting the gladiators against each other or even sending men to take out the strongest of the battlers. You are one of these famous gladiators, you have won countless battles and no matter what you think of revolt, you aren't ready to die yet, so you take action.

appearance: (you would not believe how hard it is to find pics right now) Short brown hair, very tan, leathery skin, beady grey eye and a red eye small in height and width tattoos of random names over cover his arms and legs, the number 27 on his right cheek and wipe marks on his back, a large scar across his chest and a cut across the nose. Wears a light scowl and a long skirt when in battle wears a light leather chest plate with a bronze strap across and iron rivets dotting the leather. wears leather leggings that block the sides with red strips of cloth going down the middle and and a sash across the pelvic area and fur helmet, no shoes at either time, and usually has twigs in his hat.
weapons: A small club about the size of his fore arm and whisker shield as well a sharp shards of metal, glass, flint, and shale.

Bio: eager to start trading and get away from the military action forced on him, alara joined a group from the silk road and traded with rome until he was captured do to the rare look he had, and forced into slavery. Someone saw him protect a citizen from a thief and got him hired as a gladiator and has always had hype on him, despite being very short a weak looking.

Extra: known as the red eye'd devil and is feared by the women that go to his bath house, making him stay a set distance from him.

appearance: Cato stands just under 7 feet, his body is muscular, but not overtly so. There are scars all around his body - gotten both at the arena and on the field of battle. His quite handsome face however has surprisingly remained without scars. Outside of combat Cato wears a simple gray tunic most of the times.

weapons: For armament Cato has chosen two gladii swords, a scutum shield and a trident - not that he would wield all of them at once - usually he begins the battle with his trident and shield, at some point he discards his trident, pulls out the first gladius and when the need arises he would discard the shield and resort in to dual wielding the gladii. If the swords fail him he'll resort in to using pankration.

revolutionary or not: Cato is strongly against the revolt, but has chosen the route of neutrality.

Bio: Being bought as a slave for a young and upstart lawyer hadn't seemed like such a good fate for Cato. He had hated this Marcus Cornelius Falco from the very moment they had first laid eyes on each other. That had been 21 years ago when both men had been young and foolish.

Over the years the men slowly became friends after bonding over many things - their shared love of the poet Homer, their near equal skill in combat - both physical and oratorial - and ofcourse over their shared hatred of certain people.

Cato first stepped to the sands of an arena more as a little jest than out of any fondness for fighting - he had been just under 30 at that time and his master, whom was not quite his friend yet at that point - had made a little bet with a quite wealthy senator about something. Cato had dispatched his foes with little ease that day and would step to the sands whenever Falco deemed it necessary.

Now that Cato is growing old and getting slower he prefers to stay out of combat - or actually any kinds of fighting really - however if the need arises he will use his experience, renown and every dirty trick he's learned over the years to his advantage.
