Los Angeles, California. It began the previous day when numerous cases of animal attacks and food poisoning popped up around LA County. Hundreds of people were hospitalized in various medical facilities across the county, and all of them reported a sickness that got steadily worse. Come midnight, local police were dispatched to various hospitals around Los Angeles County. Turns out, people were turning into rabid monsters, hell-bent on spreading a mysterious pathogen that had taken them over. A state of emergency was declared at 2:03 AM across LA County, and the military was brought in to contain the outbreak. However, the outbreak simply spread, and a county-wide quarantine was issued at 4:07 AM.
Our story starts at the issuing of the quarantine across LA County, California, at 4:07 AM, June 28th, 2014. We start at the exact moment where we lost the privilege to simply ignore what was going on in different areas across LA County. Only 10% of the population in LA County has turned thus far, but it will only spread more rapidly, and chaos and anarchy is about to erupt as we start the RP.
Current Situation
See map here for reference
Downtown Los Angeles is an absolute mess. The infected are swarming the streets, and some of the office towers here are getting their upper floors filled with the unlucky survivors who didn't get out in time.
East Los Angeles is even worse off than downtown. The LAC+USC Medical Center, one of the areas in LA where the outbreak first got out of hand, is located in this area, right next to Downtown LA. Pretty much everyone here is infected and heading out in all directions.
The West Side, made up by Hollywood, West and Central LA, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Venice, Santa Monica, Bel Air, and Malibu is in pretty bad shape. The outbreak is happening in big patches all around here, and if you don't find trouble with the infected, you're going to find trouble with desperate survivors. The military is fortifying the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park, hoping to keep a strategic location that allows them to look over the core of the outbreak in Downtown and East LA.
The South Bay region, stretching from LA International Airport, Inglewood, and South LA, down to Compton and the Palos Verdes peninsula, is seeing its share of the chaos. The outbreak is happening here in small patches, and the military is trying to set up some control here. God knows how long the military will be able to keep order around here.
The islands of Santa Catalina and San Clemente are pretty much under strict military control. Santa Catalina has been turned into a massive refugee camp, where people are processed before leaving quarantined LA County, or otherwise being shot for displaying signs of infection.
The Gateway Cities along the border with Orange County, from Long Beach to La Mirada, has been reduced to a no-man's land by Air Force bombings. The whole area is littered with rubble, bodies, smoke, ashes, and military units duking it out with the infected.
The San Fernando Valley was originally considered safe, but reports of infected have been popping up around here. Expect the situation to deteriorate quickly here.
The San Gabriel Valley is safe but getting quite unsteady, and Pasadena currently hosts the central command for US military forces in LA County. The military has this place tightly controlled, as far as anyone knows.
The Santa Clarita Valley is jam-packed with panicky survivors just trying to flee for their lives along Interstate 5. The whole highway is littered with dense, dense traffic, as the military has closed off the northern border.
If you didn't manage to get on Interstate 5, you're probably in the Antelope Valley. Locals here are pissed off, the military is locking this place down tighter than a nun's you-know-what, and best of all? You're in a fucking desert. Wonderful times indeed.

Rules
1. Standard RP Guild rules apply. Read 'em.
2. No Sues, no godmodding, none of that crap here, please. I have the right to reject your character if I feel that they're not balanced out enough.
3. I reserve the right to puppet your character if you have been inactive for 2-3 days, in order to move the RP along. I'll PM you the posts where I've puppeted your character.
4. I want this RP to be a collaborative effort beyond IC posts, and what you can do to help with that is be active in the OOC, talk with fellow players and me, and just be social. If you've got an idea, suggestion, question, criticism, etc. that you want to share, then share it!
5. Post your character sheet in the CS thread. Don't post IC until I say you can!
6. You can travel anywhere within the boundaries I've set around Los Angeles County, but know this. The RP stays within those boundaries. When and if your characters pass that boundary line, they're out of the RP, regardless of whether they're escaping in one piece or not.
7. Have fun! If you're not having fun, then maybe this isn't the best RP for you.
This RP is still open.
