Wayne Travers. He's pretty much straight out of a GTA game if it had furry characters like in Star Fox, so the fantastical stuff isn't really suitable for him.Hi Bob.

[2]. Although I will briefly mention that I don't think sexual relationships between RP characters are inherently a bad thing (excluding the ad-revenue issue, obviously) - I mean, if it organically grows between two characters throughout the course of a roleplay then I don't really see why not. It's the blatant smut, the sexual roleplay just for the sake of, uh, "pretending to slip a turbo hot beef injection into their nether regions", that pisses me off. And the fact that they've overrun 1x1 with it and are sacrificing any ad revenue for the site.

I aim to please, but the bar for how hard i try is set low, but not as low as 1x1 sets it's bar for reasonable context.

Yeah, that's one of those weird, awkward things. I got into roleplaying on a Star Fox forum way back in 2001, way before I even knew furries were a thing, so I didn't think anything of making an anthropomorphic character any more so than I would like an alien in Mass Effect. Now, after being on the internet for so long, it's kind of one of those things where if I were to join a roleplay that involved an anthro setting like Star Fox, it would probably be accused with a billion accusations of being a furry or whatever. Not really into that, but I don't mind or care that people are. Considering all the weird shit on the internet, there are far, far weirder things than somebody claiming to be a furry.

No, of course not. I imagine quite a few people, myself included, have done it. But like you said, it's about telling a story first and foremost. It's just there's so. Much. Smut. The vast majority of RPs in 1x1 right now are basically Craigslist ads, and that's kinda fucked up. I don't know why those people don't realize that it's inappropro and is a big part of the reason we lost the oldguild. If you gotta do smut, take it somewhere that's not public. Ain't rocket science. The only acceptable name is Rasputin.

Exactly.Besides, I'm more interested in furry characters being CHARACTERS, not meaty fuckpuppets or lit up with more garish colors than the 1980s, like most furry characters are unfortunately. At this point, it's really not a matter of whether your characters are humans or elves or furries or ponies or hedgehogs. To me, it's about how the character's portrayed, not what they are.

Drevish you have it wrong, Craglist has rules in place to keep it less like 1x1.

Yeah, I think a lot of the stigma comes from people who kind of make a lifestyle around it or something like that. Plus, the porn.

I think a large part of the problem is that a lot of furries almost to be judged and ostracised. They view themselves as outcasts and set themselves up in insular communities based around something they know alienates most people, then they wear it as a badge of honour and shove it into people's faces. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm in no way saying all furries are like this, I've known a few during my time on the web and for the most part they've been lovely people, but there are a vocal minority who seem to get a kick out of peoples' negative reactions and actively seek to make a bad name for furries as a whole - just like trolls get a kick out of being hated and ostracised. It's like those guys who made the MLP porn of the character that was meant to represent the disabled boy - that shit was just to troll and alienate people.Agreed fully. Both in regards to the "" and Rasputin as a name.

Before they wreck themselves, or something. Still, a few people here have a history of posting some pretty 'nope' images that probably made Spam earn the magnifying glass of mod scrutiny. Dolphin tits and flying dick helicopters come to mind.Yeah, I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. People who feel socially outcasted tend to empower themselves with stuff that's not socially normal and then get really loud and obnoxious about throwing it in people's faces to show how different and independent they are and blah blah blah.In that sense, the deviant furries are like the goth kids who pretend they're vampires or the militant atheist neckbeards.I feel like we're writing a thesis on social studies.

Seconded. As a furry myself, I feel like the least weirdest weirdo in a sea of even bigger weirdos, if that makes any sense. A bit of a self-esteem booster knowing that multiple people have bested me in being quirky as fuck, but the stigma around being a furry based on that vocal minority is still there. Hell, it's really hard for me to talk about being a furry, even with other furries.

Yeah, but when we did it, it was for comedy and general hilarity. Maybe inappropriate, but it was for a sort of purpose - not just wanton indulgence in teenage hormones (which, of course, I'm an expert on, as my occasional Spam hissy-fits testify). Here, it was for the laughter of a community - in 1x1, well, they could do that stuff in PMs, or . Plus, context is a big thing - the context of telling a joke about sex or something inappropriate is very different from the reality of acting the thing out, physically or verbally. This is slightly heavy conversation for Spam, I'll admit. Though I've always seen Spam as somewhat odd socially anyway - I've not seen many other similar sorts of communities elsewhere across the web - so maybe this is the right place to be writing said hypothetical thesis. Is Brony-ism (is that the right term?) not a type of furryism (I really need to start checking my terminology...)?
