Who is Vigil?

Vigil, once a prestigious group of supernatural beings with powers of almost unbelievable limits, had split apart, separated. Now, the members of Vigil are now either heroes, villains, even some of them trying to live their lives normally. Vigil no longer oversees the world, but watches their backs from their old comrades.

"Do people need Vigil once again?"

The truth is, they do. An evil force is rising from the depths of Sherman Beach. Once a member of Vigil, this being has taken Sherman Beach as her land, her fortress. She is..Oceania.

Can Vigil stand against one of their own? Against the Ocean herself? Only you— and time— can tell.

Synopsis

Vigil was a superhero group, who had watched the world and kept the peace. The group had broken apart due to unsettling differences, and had parted ways. As shown earlier, Oceania, once a member of Vigil, indeed, one of the founding members, is a daughter of Poseidon. She had always disliked humanity; she thought they used her and her inhabitants too greedily. She plans to take over the world, starting from the pseudo-city Sherman Beach in California. Only members of Vigil have the power to stop her. Anyone interested?

If by "THE" Red Lantern you mean Atrocitus, then no, I'd be using my own Red Lantern character.

@Fabricant451 I don't have much restrictions, only that you do recognize that even beings of the caliber still have limits, and that every action has a corresponding reaction.

@Krien Well, let's see: though a Red Lantern character really appeals to me, I would say yes indefinitely. However, to admit that a Red Lantern character does exist in this universe is to say that this is the DC Universe. Which I'm trying to distinguish. A likeness would be perfectly fine.

I see what you mean. Maybe this issue can be worked around? I remember being in another Superhero RP that wasn't supposed to be related to Marvel or DC in any way, yet I still went in and used a symbiote character. Other than references to other superheroes from Marvel, there wasn't anything else besides the symbiote. Everything from then on went rather smoothly.

I won't use the Red Lantern if you don't want though. I have another character that I made for another RP meant to resemble a Red Lantern by having the same napalm blood thing going on

I could be interested, but I'd like to hear more details about the setting and the plot. We're for certain playing former members of the Vigil? Meaning that we would be experienced Superheroes (or what have you), and this would be a "getting the gang back together" sort of affair?

I'm glad you asked, Dead Cruiser.

First off, it's modern day, in Sherman Beach, California. Sunny, sandy beaches is what you'll find here, along with the world's largest sand castle. Originally, it is not meant to be a "get the gang back together" thing, just a mutual camaraderie of ex-Vigil members. This does not mean that the only ones responding to the call for help were, or are, from Vigil. In fact, some new blood would spice things up a bit, get a bit of subplot going.

The plot, as I would like to say, is going to be done much in the way of how comics would; each section of plot would be like "Vigil Against The Ocean; Stand on Land's End", or things such as that. I don't want to give away too much too early. I have surprises in store.

Well, thinking how this is a series, and Vigil will grow to be quite large... I'll think about it.

Yes, I do think I'd prefer to play as "new blood," as you say. I already have a character formulating. When character sheets are available, would it be possible for me to write up a character mostly unknown to the rest of the players/characters, and then fill you in on their details privately?

I am definitely interested in this...I am probably going to sound ignorant here, but my guess is this is a series of somesort? Do I have to know about it? Is it any good, if so, I wouod be happy to read or watch it!

This will be an RP series, that much is sure! Actually, I spent a good portion of my day trying to figure out an idea to produce and give to the community. That idea was Vigil.

I see you mention that the vigil ( and their descendants ) are made of up 'gods'. Are we allowed to pull from any pantheon or just the greek/roman since you have established our big bad as the spawn of Poseidon?
