"Torturing myself." she answered quietly, lifting him up slightly but then setting him on his feet and releasing his wrists. She took only one step back, and kept her eyes on the floor, though her face would appear to be quite sad..and truthfully...if she still had the ability to cry, she would be doing just that. Her eyes looked over at a pile, she had gathered her stuff already.

"...I'm leaving now....I'll probably kill people on my way out."

She needed to get away from him, she told herself. She was losing it, and she knew the next person she would see probably wouldn't escape her thirst alive. It was too late for her, and she should have known it. And she should also have known that a vampire can't work with a hunter. A hunters job was dangerous, so there would no doubt be blood involved. She cringed at the thought of how quickly she would devolve if so little of his blood pushed her this far.

She can't be saved, she told herself, but maybe she can save him...from herself. That is...if she can get out the door without turning right around and killing him. She sighed softly to herself, before cutting her breath off again and clenching he fists and teeth. She really did wish she could still cry.

Connor watched her, shivering slighty as she lifted him, and let his wrists go. He shifted, hand reaching for the gun on the table, with the dead mans blood as she said "I'm Leaving now, I'll probably kill people on my way out"

And Connor didn't hesitate, because he knew that meant she was leaving, and wasn't coming back. He didn't hesitate, as he took aim quickly, and shot her in the shoulder, catching her before she could fall. He knew she would feel sluggish, slow, and perhaps unfocused or become unconscious. He knew the pain would be great, and he whispered, "I'm Sorry" as he laid her down gently.

He was gone in seconds, outside, and running down the street, running through the darkened streets, and towards the local bar. He didn't have to search long to find what he needed, as a girl gave a long, piercing scream.

He turned into an ally by the bar, and a store, seeing a man and a girl. The girl was struggling, the mans hand over her mouth, and Connor took the few steps, and tore the man from the girl, slamming his fist into his face. The girl fled, crying, and Connor beat the man into unconsciousness.

Perhaps the monsters he hunted weren't the real monsters in the world.

He retrieved his car, and dragged the man into it, heading back to the inn. He couldn't believe what he was doing, couldn't believe he was taking a man to his death, for he was sure of that. Connor was beyond redemption now, beyond going back.

He didn't want to go back to being alone, didn't want Elizabeth to go. He swallowed as he returned to the inn, and dragged the man inside. He threw the man just inside, and returned to his car, knowing the Dead Man's Blood would wear off soon, not even checking that Elizabeth was still in the room. He sat in the drivers seat, and leaned against the wheel, closing his eye tight.

Her eyes grew wide when she heard the gun shot and felt the sting in her shoulder. For the split second before the blood took effect, she expected for everything to end with her turning to dust. But instead her body went limp and she found herself in his arm...looking to him for an answer.

He provided none, only apologizing and running off. Pain set in. It started in her shoulder but quickly engulfed her enitre body. She barely had time to question what it was he was apologizing for between the bouts of pain and her trying to flounder around the room. She was almost to the window when another wave of pain hit her, and her body seized and unseized several times before she just slipped into unconciousness.

When she came to it was from the sound of door opening and closing. She still felt sluggish, in pain, and slightly nausious- something she almost didn't recognize because its been so long. Looking around her, she saw a man laying on the floor but no trace of Connor. Her eyes stayed on the man, and she vaguely questioned what was going on...if connor was behind this...or even still around.

She was still sluggish when Connor's chosen victim started coming to. he too, looked around and was greatly confused. He demanded answers from Elizabeth, seeing as she was the only person around to talk to...but she just remained silent and sluggish acting so she could feel the pain and foggy-headedness receeding. She smiled to herself as he muttered something about her being useless for information but that he might use her for something else. A perfect target, no one she'd need to torture herself over trying to keep alive.

Her thirst came back in possibly the biggest wave she ever felt and even if she had been looking to hold it back, she would have failed. But her thirst washed over her and she found herself standing up and grabbing him and throwing him against the wall with a new burst of energy. Connor might even have heard the commotion and the man's screams even through the windows of the car. For a brief moment that felt long extended to her, Elizabeth was gone her body completely run on the curse and the instincts that came with it. The blood flowed freely and she partook in it just as freely- even going beyond the point where he would die of blood loss. She took all of it, shredding his body as much as she needed it until she couldn't gather any more.

When her sanity was back, she gathered the largest body parts, threw them in the tub, turned the shower on, washed her hands, left a note saying "identity theft, bitches!" in really boxy lettering and grabbed her things. Not taking the time to check for connor first, she opened the door and jumped onto the roof, landing in a low stance. Her eyes quickly adjusted and showed her what she needed to know- people were mostly still inside and someone was on the phone with their back turned towards her and...connor's car.

She jumped from the roof of the hotel and to infront of the car, seeing that connor was actually inside, she slid in and slammed the door. "drive now" she said quickly, even though she was fairly certain that she didn't have to. Her hands and objects and packages of moist towelettes went flying onto the floor of the car as she tried to clean herself up as much as possible. It would take her entire stock of towelettes.

Connor had turned the music up as loud as he could in the car, trying to drawn out his thought, which were disturbing. It didn't work, and his thoughts continued around in a vicious circle. He had just condemned a bad man to death. Was that a good thing? Did two wrongs make a right? An age old philosophy question that might never be answered.

The music didn't drawn out the screams, and Connor gripped the wheel tight. He wanted to try and feel bad about this, but he didn't. Did that make him a monster? He didn't know. He sighed, and pulled back, staring at his hands.

The bandage on his left hand were soaked. He had opened the cut again, and he stepped out the car, going to a public rest room across from the Inn's BBQ section. He washed the cut out, and changed the bandages, throwing the blood soaked ones in a trash can as he walked back to t he car.

The knuckles on his right hand were grazed, swollen and bruising even as he looked at them. He sat back in the car, noticing that the screams were gone. He was thankful for that. He buckled himself in the car, and sipped a bottle of water, watching the inn room, trying not to image what was going on in there.

He watched, then flinched as Elizabeth's silhouette landed in front of the car, and she got in, covered in blood. He swallowed, and tried not to notice it, grumbling when she said to drive now. He was thankful that she had grabbed his things as well and he started the car up, fleeing the car park as fast as he could, without drawing attention to them. He sped out the town, driving fast along the road, silent.

He was silent for a long time, driving fast, concentrating. How could he explain his actions, explain why he did what he did? He wasn't even too sure why he had done it. Finally, he took a deep breath, and said softly, "I'm sorry fo shooting you. Dead Mans Blood. Essentially, its poison for you" he paused, looking ahead, not wanting to look at her, afraid at what he might see..

"I didn't have to search long to find that sleaze ball. He was going to rape a young girl..." He sighed and trailed off, unable to say anything else.

She didn't like the silence. She also didn't like the fact that even though he had done something that was so against him for her, and she had expended all of her moist towelettes to clean up- he still hadn't looked at her. He could have easily killed her when she made it clear that she couldn't hold herself together any more...but he didn't...

She spent most of the ride looking out the window, but occasionally she'd glance over at him. He'd still not have looked at her. He could have killed her, the thought would come back, but he didn't...yet somehow, she was feeling guilty about that man. not because he was a god man- she had learnt better....but because she was the reason, soemhow, for Connor to find that man in the first place. And connor wasn't stupid, he'd have known that she was going to kill him.

Another glance at him, only to find him still staring at the road again.

She was about to just give up and stare out the window for the rest of the ride to....wherever they were going. But he spoke. She eagerly perked up as he began to speak, but her eagerness waned when she realized it was just an apology for shooting her, and the uneeded explanation of where he had gotten the guy, though it gave her a minute point of satisfation to know that she had made one less horrible man on the street.

She remained silent though, watching him to see if there was a chance for him to continue speaking. But it was a long while, and she figured there wouldn't be. Then a lake came into view, and by the looks of it, there was a small park/parking lot attached where people could picnic and/or go fishing. She saw this as the perfect place to get some things done. She could clean up better and get changed, and she could deal with the mess that they were in. She needed to know what was going on inside his head because it seemed like he wanted her around, but she wouldn't be able to handle it if he was this awkward around her.

"Pull in here." she said quietly, pointing to the park/parking lot.

Connor was fighting an inner battle. He just continued to drive, not even lookin about as he did so. He was full of shame, for sending a man to his death, guilt for shooting Elizabeth, and sadness for what he had lost. Any humanity he had had was, he knew, gone. It fled the meeting he went to beat the crap out of the man. He don't know what that made him now, but that was the least of his problems.

He had saved a young girl, but had made an even worse sin. Murder. That what it was, cold bloodied birder, even if he hadn't done the killing, he led the man to deaths door. It wasn't in self defense. It was simply in fear of being alone again.

The life of a hunter was a lonely one. On the road a lot, and unable to get close to anyone because of not being able to share the life. Yes, some hunters did get together but even that was lonely. No friends, no family. And Connor had always been a friendly person. The lost four years had, essentially, being waiting for that last, finally blow, waiting for death. And now...

"Pull in here"

He glanced over when Elizabeth said that, seeing the parking lot and the lake. He didn't say anything, just pulled in, parking the car. He sighed, and got out, going to the boot, and taking out another set of plates, taking off the ones on the car, and putting them on.

Then he walked to the edge of the lack, and stared out, hands in his pockets. He stared out for a long time, before sighing, squaring his shoulders and turned around, to face Elizabeth.

She let him do whatever he needed to. She gathered and prganized the things she needed at the moment. a change of clothes, her pills, and one of those travel washcloths. She didn't have a towel at the moment,. so she was going to have to make due. She diodn't mind, being cold and wet didn't have the same effect on her as it did for a human.

Once she was all set up, she watched him stare at the lake for a while. She imagined that he was a teenager just now knowing what it took to be a man in a harsh world...though she knew he was no longer an adolescent. Either way, she knew he had some things to sort out...even as his silence and her guilt were slowly killing her inside. It will be fine, she told herself. The worst is over now. she no longer felt the need to drink him to death. The worst they can come to now is splitting up....even if he had done it to keep her around, which she had some doubts about because he had made it clear that he would kill her if she stepped wrong....and she had practically told him that she was giving up.

Maybe he had seen hope for her and tried to get her back by feeding her himself...she wasn't sure, there were too many things that could have been running through his head, and she wasn't a psychic.

Shaking her head free of the thoughts that came to her mind, she slipped off her shoes and grabbed her things. She needed a bath...but as she went to pass him to go into the lake, he turned around and looked at her, appearing as if he was ready to talk.

"Faced your demon?" she asked quietly, not looking him in the eye directly. Technically, her fate was in his hands right now...and she knew it.

Connor gave a shrugged and said softly, "I did what I had to do. That's all" he said, hands still in his pockets, jacket now zipped up against the cool night air. He swallowed but didn't look away. He didn't move, staying where he was, yet it seemed like one good gust of wind would knock him over. Vulnerable and fragile looking, he nevertheless managed to give an air of strength.

He gave another shrug, starting towards the car to lean against the hood. He rested there, looking up at the sky. "What happened, happened, and we can't change that. So we may as well move forward" he said softly, knowing that she would hear him.

He sighed softly, "things are getting worse. The dark is rising. So let's find the medallion as quick as possible, shall we?" He said, looking back to Elizabeth. "You shouldn't take long to do what you have to do. I want to be in a hotel room before the sun comes up. Before the sky lightens"

He knew they'd have to be extremely careful now.

She felt some of the heaviness between them life as he came to grip with what he duid, well kind of. She could tell that he was willing to move forward but she thought that it might be because he had no real answer. She wondered briefly aboutb why it was that he thought he had to feed her, but those thoughts weren't for now. She had business to attend to.

Yet, when she tried to attent to them, he would keep on talking...and he was right, she could hear him but only because she was what she was. She listened and thought about ever word for a moment before sighing. "If you want us to get to town faster, then maybe you should stop rambling and let me take my bath. " and was going to go after that but she stopped and looked back at him, "and don't look!"

She turned back and smiled. Did she think he was going to look? Not really. It was a possibility because he was so young but she didn't see enough of it in his character to actually have reason to suspect that he would. Truthfully, it was more to possibly get things back to normal then it was to warn him away.even so, she hoped he didn't look.

Making her point about time already, she made her way over to the lake, waded in and set her things on the dock. Soon she was slowly peeling the blood soaked garments off and dropping them into the lake's waters. She didn't need them, and keeping them around would probably make him unecessarily uncomfortable. Putting her hair up, she quietly scooped the cold water up and onto her pale skin, gently rubbing away the red staining liquid that had not been cleaned off before.

Connor chuckled, glancing away when she said to stop rambling, and not look. Connor wouln't look of course. He wasn't a sleave ball, even if he was a man. He stayed looking up at the sky, laying back on the bed, and looking at the stars. He let his thoughts slide in and out, and just lay there.

He closed his eyes, listening around them. He had to think what they were going to do from here on out. They were, essentially, now on the run, and he winced, thinking about boor Bessie. That made him sigh, and he curled his hands into fists.

If I look back, he thought to himself, I am lost. Bessie would be alright, he had to believe that. She was safe, in a stable. And he couldn't do anything for her in any case. Not right now.

He just had to make sure she couldn't be used against them. It would mean changing phones, cutting off all ties essentially, and being extremely careful from here on out. They couldn't afford to be caught.

His thoughts once more went to the teenage girl, and he winced, sitting up. He hadn't called yet, mostly because he had forgotten with everything else. He didn't know if he could even face calling.

Finally, he said, "Will you be much longer?"

Connor had been thinking longer than he thought. Elizabeth was already done taking her bath and was standing nearby , wiping herself down with that traveling washcloth, which actually worked very well when she took it right out of the its small, compressed packaging. Since she was right next to him, she chuckled when he asked if she would be much longer. "Just a bit. and then we can go."

She had been watching him while drying herself off, well the parts that weren't already clothed, and saw that he was thinking some rather serious things. But then, she had been too. While they were in a bit of a hurry, at least he was, she had to get him to talk now....because she wouldn't be able to trap him while in the car and he'd be too jumpy later considering how many mistakes he'd made that night already...and now this, she had gotten right up next to him without him pulling out of his thoughts. She folded up the little half-damp washrag. She still wasn't completely dry, but since when did any sort of towel get all the moisture?

"Now that we're on a talking basis again, you and I REALLY need to talk." she looked at him a bit concerned. "If I'm going to keep following you, there are of course things I need to know. "

Connor flinched as she spoke next to him, sitting up and looking over at her, "jeez, don't do that!" He said with half a laugh, but was worried. Connor had good senses, and she shouldn't have been able to sneak up on him like that. He was indeed getting to complacent with her, and he couldn't do that. The day and the night so far had proven that after all. He sighed, and slid of the hood,

He ran a hand through his hair as she said that they needed to talk. "about what?" he said uneasily, just wanting this night over with, and put behind them. "I have pretty much told you everything so what else do you need to know?"

Connor was afraid of her reply. There were some things even he didn't understand about what was going on right now, although he did have some suspicions, even if he didn't want to know what they were, or what was going on. So he was afraid what she would ask, afraid of the answers he would have to give.

"about where we're going..and what's going on in your head." She closed in on him a bit,. She could tell that he was nervous and frightened but she felt like she had to know, that she had to push the limits to get her answers. After all, he was the leader here - but she had thoughts and feelings too. she needed to know what has changed between them in order to know how to proceed with their kind of teamwork.

She had him against the car, but this time she only slowly went for his hands. "What was going through your head when I had you against the wall? What was going through your head when you switched out your ammo? What was going through your head when you shot me?" She looked at him directly in the eyes now, "What were you thinking about when you went out to find someone for me? When you threw him into the room? When you waited outside? When you did not look or speak to me for almost the entire ride here? What were you thinking about so much that you, a hunter, did not notice when someone walked up to you? I know you have things on your mind, and they must weigh pretty heavily for you to do something completely different than what you've done before you met me....But I left a fairly comfortable life because of you, and I need to know where the hell I am going."

(oh please do not try to answer any of those before she gets done speaking XD)

She looked intent for a while before dropping her eyes and quieting down, "I also need to know why the one person I need to stay alive is making such stupid mistakes all the time...when I know he's better than that." She sighed, and her shoulders dropped as she went to lay her head on his chest. She could hear his heart beat very clearly now, but she didn't move or twitch. She just listened.

Connor almost flinched she she had him against the car and went for his hands. Connor gave a great sigh, listening to all she asked, standing there for a while in silence "We are going to where I suspect the first vampires were created.!23 are going to Salem" he said, staying where he was, "and we don't have enough time for what's in my head" he said with another

He looked down, away from her. It wasn't that he was angry, or mad at her. He was afraid of what he'd see as he spoke, his voice so soft, yet even as he began to speak. "When you had me against the wall, I was thinking that god has an ironic sense of humor to make me a hunter because of a vampire, only to take my life away because of one. I was thinking that you wouldn't kill me. I knew you wouldn't. And that's why I used a specialized bullet, filled with Dead Mans Bloid, to stun and not kill you." He skipped over some of the questions and continued "what was going through my head was that I murdered a guy in cold blood. That I'm less human than even I thought. That I'll do anything, for my own gain. That I could help you, but that I couldn't do anything for the teenager back home, who most likely went out of control with the false full moon and either killed or turned someone. That most likely Marl had to kill her. That I've left Bessie in a stall to most likely never see me again. And that" he said finally, his voice becoming more softer, "for the first time in four years, I don't want to be alone. "

He closed his eyes right, and his shoulders shook slightly, the only movement he made as he stood there with her head on his chest, his arms by his side.

"I just want to do one good thing before I die"

And she listened, she listened to all of it. He didn't answer all of her questions, but he answered the ones that seemed to matter. She felt hurt and pity for him when he spoke harshly about himself, and was touched by the last few things he had said. She looked up at him, seeing his pain...knowing now how frustrated he must being feeling about himself, and baout what's been happening. She vaguely noted where they were going, destination wise, but her mind kept replaying the more emotional part of his answer to her.

She placed her hand over his heart, again feeling his heatrtbeat. "You're wrong..' she said finally, quietly, "about being inhuman...People will do things for their own gain, commit sins...that is as part of being human as much as caring for another or being selfless is. And, Connor...you ARE still human. You are not some selfish asshole who only thinks for himself. If you were as bad as you feel you are, you would not have let me or that werewolf live. You wouldn't care about the farm being in your family...you wouldn't care about losing Bessie....why...if you didn't care about anyone but yourself...I doubt you would have been a hunter in the first place."

Gently, she puts her hands on either side of his face and looks at him. "but you ARE a hunter. You protect innocent people from being slaughtered or turned. You saw past my curse, and that of the werewolf girl. You gave us refuge when we needed it. You care for Bessie so much, she has connected with you and few others. You saved a girl from being raped...gave me something to hope for, didn't give up on me when I started to...and even though you've rationalize that that werewolf girl is probably dead, you're hoping that she isn't...and all you want...is to not be alone...and to feel like it's all been worth it...that you did some good with your life. Connor...I wish to tell you so much that you have done more than your fair share of good things...but I'm not even sure if I can break through this wall of self-doubt that you have up around you."

Connor shivere lightly as she lay her han over his heart. He could feel it beating there, pounding as if in response to her touch. He wasn't too sure if it was instinct or not. He swallowed and listened as she spoke. He sighed heavily and tried to turn his face away, but of course, her grip was strong, her hands firm.

"You don't understand" He said softly, "I had no choice but to become a hunter. I had no choice in everything I've done, because it was either that, or die" He reached up to his neck, and brushed at the hollow of his neck, and brushed off concealer to reveal the bit mark there, two tiny punctures.

"There's a reason Marl and I live and hunt in the same area. Four years ago I was a regular colluege kid, hitting the bars. One little mistake, and I ended in the alley way with a vampiress. If Marl hadn't turned up, if he hadn't known what to do, I'd be a vampire under the thrall of her. Trouble is, know hunter really knows the effects vampire venom has on someone, even when the curse is lifted. That's how I know about dead mans blood. Marl gave it to me. More he shoved it down my throat to induce vomiting. Since then, I've been able to sense more than the norm. In otherwords, the supernatural"

He looked to her, "I'm not good, Elizabeth. I just simply do whats been left of me and use what I've been given"

When he revealed his bite marks, Elizabeth was almost overwhelmed by the feeling that some other vampiress had touched him, and found that she had the desire to bite over those marks to claim him as hers...what a strange feeling that was.

Luckily, or unluckily, she was drawn away from those thoughts. She listened to him again. Listened to his pessimism again. Her body grew tense, her grip tightened as she found herself angered by what he was saying. Not because he was forced into a certain life, but because he was saying that he had no choices in that life - when she knew better because she was one of those choices. She was about to quite literally bite his head off because of the shit he was talking about. She found it offensive not only to her one and only dream, but to the kind grace of God that her had received that she felt denied of and had to suffer that denial for three centuries. She was so into it that she considered giving him a life or death ultimatum, a chance to end the misery he so claimed to have....even if it would cost her her soul.

But just as she felt a tightening in her chest, a goodbye to her future...she caught herself looking down at his chest, her ears attuned to it from earlier. She grew less tense, her grip loosening. She let go of his face but kept him there. His heart was back to being even. It had been fluttering a little bit ago, when she touched his chest. Soon, she felt that she understood what was actually going on. He had invited her along with the promise of converting her even though he didn't have to, he returned her kindnesses, he didn't kill her right away when started to get dangerous, he purposefully kept her alive....he even technically killed a man for her.

A small smile and a sense of calm over took her, and again, she placed her hand over his heart. "Stop pretending that you're dead." she told him, looking back into his eyes and leaning up and in. "because you're not."

She closed the distance even more, the space between them being destroyed with a gentle kiss.

Connor could feel her anger, feel her grew tense, and her grip tightening on him. He didn't react, bowing his head, unable to fight back, he would let her do anything to him. And the her tension lessoned, her grip loosening, and she lay her hand over his heart again, causing it to flutter again, whether in response to her touch, or the fact that she could easily crush it, he didn't know.

When she smiled, he swallowed. "Stop pretending that you're dead" She said, and he couldn't look away, even as she leaned in, because you're not" He was shocked when she kissed him, and stood there for a few seconds, unable to react, and then he returned her kiss, shifting just slightly to wrap his arms around her, but then...then thoughts raced through his head.

He could bite down and draw blood, take a sip. Even a sip would be enough to complete the transformation, even four years later. Part of him, a really small part, wanted that, while the rest of him was repulsed at his thoughts. There was a reason why he stayed in contact with Marl. Why, when he thought some vampire jobs might me too risky alone that he paired up with Marl. Because one drop of blood would be enough.

He swallowed, and pushed away with more strength then he should have, and turned away from her. "I can't" He whispered softly to himself. his hands clenched. "I'm not strong enough" He couldn't look at her, afraid of what she would see in his eyes, afraid of her reaction, afraid of how much he wanted to kiss her again.

He couldn't let himself fall, couldn't let himself succumb.

For one moment, his warm body engulfed her. She was close enough to feel it start to soak in and she could feel his strong hearbeat against her. For one moment, her mind reached out and could imagine that she was human again. She fell in love with that moment.

But it was just a moment, and she felt herself being pushed away - her moment of humanity litterally ripped away from her.

She quickly regained her balance and looked to him, trying to scope out what was going on, what feelings he might be displaying to give her a sense of what to do next. But he just turned from her, and she heard some vague words. Part of her was happy, part of her was sad, she was definitely disappointed....but, even though she thought she should feel hurt by his rejection, she didn't. A calm-ish, but sad understanding came over her. They couldn't be together like that.

Well...there were no more issues -besides the fact they couldn't be together- so she refocussed herself around why they were so far away from her apartment in the first place. She looked to the sky, it wasn't quite ligh yet. But the birds were chirping, a sure sign that sunrise would be soon. She looked over to him, and reached out to rub his shoulder. He had turned away so maybe she shouldn't have...but she wanted him to know that it was alright, that she wasn't angry or upset.

"Come on. We should get to wherever we're going so that we can rest. I took my medicine, so you shouldn't feel too rushed." She told him, gently, like a kid who had scraped their knee. She used that soft, almost motherly tone, because she wasn't sure if anything else was appropriate to get him out of his thoughts about them and get back to business.

And with that, she gathered what she had set down to talk to him and walked over to the other side of the car.

Connor licked his lips as if he could taste her. He closed his eyes, listening behind him, listening for her. He could understand her constant need for blood, for his own fascination with vampire blood was boarding on manic. But...he very nearly flinched as she laid her hand on his shoulder, and it took all his willpower not to turn to her, not to take her in his arms again.

He wasn't strong enough,

"Come on. We should get to wherever we're going so that we can rest. I took my medicine, so you shouldn't feel too rushed." She told him gently, and he felt like a little kid who had done something wrong. His closed his eyes, as she gathered up her things and moved to the car. He swallowed painfully around the lump forming in his throat, shaking slightly.

This was why he believed in god, but believed he was a sardonic god, enjoying his pain and suffering. Nothing seemed to go right, until Elizabeth and now...he was not a just god. Connor could have gladly cursed god right then and there, as he slowly turned towards the car, towards Elizabeth.

He wasn't strong enough.

He wasn't strong enough to resist, wasn't strong enough to ignore what he wanted. The only thing was, which desire would be strong? For her, or her blood? He stood there, probably looking like a dear in the headlights. He could just leave, just pretend that this hadn't happened.

But it had. And he could not ignore it, even as he couldn't ignore why he hadn't killed her on sight. He stood there a few seconds, before walking towards her. "Elizabeth" he said softly, almost as if his very existence relied on that single word. "I..." But words just didn't seem enough, and he walked to her, and took her in his arms again, swallowing once more. He kissed her, almost with ferocious need, before once more pulling away and going to the drivers side, unlocking the car and sliding in the seat.

No, he wasn't strong enough at all.

He was, after all, only human.
