"Understandable. Next time I'll remember to put it in a goblet or something" Connor said, "I should have thought of that" He said musingly, "Sorry" He went to sit down as well.

"You handed me my gun in the car" Connor said with a shrug, looking down. "You didn't have to do that, but you did" He looked up, "And my ma always taught me to be a good host to my guests. So I am" He smiled, and shrugged once more.

"That's okay, I'm just curious by nature. You don't ask questions, you don't get an answer. You've had two pints here, so that's something"

He looked around the place, falling silent for a time, then looked back to her. "I hope you don't mind me prying, but when did you become a vampire?" He asked softly, hoping he wasn't going to make her feel bad or anything, it just seemed better then sitting there without speaking.

She listened and nodded along as he spoke, the more he spoke, the more she felt that she appreciated his manners and ability to see past someone's circumstances. children of the modern age had often had her questioning where the morals of humanity was going or if it was slowly eradicating itself. But Connor gave her good solid proof that it was still here.

His question brought her back to the days she was human. The time of her being a lady with adventurous tastes, who was simultaneously looking for a man while attempting to rebel against her father. Compared to her years as a vampire, her human life went by so quickly, and she found herself wishing she had done more for them while she still could.

"A mid-summer night, much like the one you and I met one..." she started quietly, subconciously dropping back into her natural accent, "it has been in the range of 300 years..."

Three hundred years. What must it be like to have lived that long? He looked down at his hands, wondering that. 300 years was a long time, look at all that had happened in the last three hundred years. Technology had just advanced in leaps and bounds, modern medicine was amazing now, food, traditions, housing, living...it had all changed. How may fashion styles and she gone through? How hard it must have been to stay hidden in homan society. He couldn't believe it.

"300 years is a long time" He said softly, leaning back in his chair, completely at ease. "I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to keep up with styles, and ways of living, I mean, just the last thirty years! the computer, the mobile phone, the internet, the car. Jeez, that's a lot of adapting" He said "Obviously, You're from England or wales or somewhere like that, but even then, your accent is different to current times" He said, clearly sounding eager.

She watched him as he looked down at his hands and stayed silent for a while She already knew what he was thinking, she had once had the same thoughts. Then came the talking and questions. she had forgotten what it felt like going through this process, since it's been forever since she's met a new vampire, which would usually be the kind of person asking these questions.

"Wales," she started with a smile. "And actually, until the last 30 years, I've been fairly good at adapting myself...but I stopped progressing along with everyone else once computers and internet came up. The closest thing to a computer I can operate is a calculator...and I am fine keeping it that way."

She sounded particuarily convicted on that, one could guess that she fought to understand it at some point and failed miserably.

"Wales is a nice place" Connor said, "And I imagine its changed a lot in the last 300 years"

Connor chuckled, looking to her, and saying, "Elizabeth, you should learn it, because it's just going to become more advanced, and you can't get left behind" He seemed amused that she didn't know how to use a computer, a basic thing most kids could work these days.

He smiled, "You just need a good teacher" He said, "How did you go with the type writer?" he asked, trying to keep his amusement out of his voice. "And what about the mobile phone? everyone has one of those now-a-days, I've even seen a four year old with one! So you have to learn how to use technology, because its becoming a big part of surviving today"

He fell silent, and shrugged, glancing at the time. He never slept much, probably four hours a night, and tended to survive on coca cola and coffee, and seemed to do pretty well. He looked back to Elizabeth

It should be getting to be evening, with the sun slowly descending.

She looked at him and raised a brow. in an almost gesture of defiance of his words, she pulled out a cellphone and layed it on the table. Obviously, she had one. "The typewriter is easy. It starts when you start, types what you type, and stops when you stop. There is no strange need to find a way to turn it off when it's GOT an off button. There are no websites with their strange 'format', and there are none of these random 'updates' that change your computer without telling you how. "

Well..she knew what she was talking about at least. Somewhat. "Cellphones are easy too. They turn on and off with the same button. you get calls like a normal phone, and you talk into it like a normal phone."

Connor shrugged, "phones are like mini computers now, you can do so much with them besides talk. You should learn, or you will get left behind" he said, as he rose, getting salt and iron shavings, mixing both together, and lining the doors and windows with them.

"A ghost haunts this area. Best to keep it out, its starting to develop poltergeist tendencies. Fine when I'm not here, but annoying when I am. It only comes out at night. Its just a pain I can't find its bones, or I'd have gotten rid of it ages ago" he shrugged

"What do you normally do? Do vampires sleep?" He asked, returning to the couch, sitting down once more, giving her a somewhat shy smile as he explained what he'd been doing with the salt and iron.

She didn't seem it, but she gave mild consideration to what he was saying about technology. maybe she could start learning about computers through phones...maybe he could help her even. Though why he was so helpful, she wasn't sure. this was going beyond being nice to guests...at least from her experience, it was.

As far as the ghost deterring was concerned, she only listened quietly and nodded. She already knew about ghosts and salt..but she wasn't familiar with the use of metal shavings. She made a mental note of it, because she was sure it would come in handy at some point of her long life.

More questions about vampires...she supposed she should get used to it if she was going to stay here. "They used to. Now, as you can see, we can be awake anytime we want. I still sleep though- from early morning to early evening. Fortunately, I can claim to work from home."

Connor nodded, filing that information away for later, "is it neceassary for you to sleep though?" He asked curiously. He knew he shouldn't ask questions, and yet, this was a perfect opportunity to gather information, and he wasn't going to miss that chance.

In his four years, Connor had accumulated a lot of information. He had a (several in fact) journals where he put this information in, so he could have it readily. He was always in the process of putting it all on computers but his job was demanding.

He also didn't technically work on a legal sense, his money came from other...endeavors. Apart from inheritance, he gambled, scammed, conned and other such means. Often, he'd travel, always coming bAck in time to help the young girl when the full moon came.

He shifted. So, whenever he had a chance to get information, he did. "And when you sleep, do you need complete darkness?"

"Um...no...no technically...being dead, nothing is really needed except blood. But we all do get more aggressive...cranky... without it. Your new, modern vampire children don't seem to understand that so they try continuing a 24 hour day."

She sat back more, looking about her, her eyes traveling to the window. "They are naive like that."

Her eyes snapped back to him, "Not complete darkness, but obviously we can't have sunlight in the room." she blinked after saying that, and felt her own hands. It dawned on her that he had closed the curtains a while ago..and she could have washed off the sunscreen.

Connor thought briefly on what she said and nodded, "that makes sense as a lot of modern ones, especially those changed the last few years, would be under the perception of seriously crappy work by Meyer. They think being a vampire is glamorous, instead of the trails it brings" he said, sounding thoughtful.

He shrugged, glancing about ghe room, "well, you should be okay in here, the curtains are very thick, and are made to keep sunlight out" he said, "there's a bathroom you can use to shower in, and I can get you some clothes to change into too, if you wish" he said

he looked to her, gave ner a smile, "and just have to figure out who the bloody hell would want me dead" he said musingly, "I should get my books out, I've got a chart on vampire hierarchy, that you could have a look at too"

She nodded, getting up, stretching, and fussing with her hands a bit. eventually she puled out another towelette to take care of it. "I'll take you up on your offer...both of them."

On the thought of Meyers she gave a low annoyed hiss, "as for Meyers...her literary work is an affront to all things in the realm of vampire." she looked at him, " I have no pride in being what I am."

"Vampires are monsters.." she said quietly, to herself, before talking to Connor again. "..but...blood suckers that only stay away because they sparkle is incredibly stupid. i feel that those books should be dispatched of in a way similar to how a real vampire would be without protection in then sun AND-" she smiled wryly at this upcoming part, "she is one of the few I would consider actually turning."

Connor burst out laughing, and it was a few moments before he got himself under control "oh, god, don't then the world has to put up with her bad writing forever" he said once he'd gotten himself under control, grinning at her

He then sighed, and rose, going over to a book shelf, taking out a book that was made from animal skin. It was obvious it was quite old "no" he said softly "vampires aren't monsters. They are what humans made them"

He opened up the book, he took out a more modern day piece of paper, cleared his throat and read "Cain was once a simple stone Mason. He was a lustful,, sinful man, but a simple one all the same. I once knew him, before...

It all began, as everything does, with love. A woman, no more than 16, a girl really, fell in love with Cain. Cain thought to use her, and throw her away after his fun. Only Cain...Cain seemed to change as he coupled with her.

One day, the girls body was found, completely drained of blood, bite marks on her neck. A local...witch, the writer isn't sure, cursed Cain into a life of living death..." He trailed off, before looking up "that, Elizabeth, is the very first recollation if vampires, at least found today. It's an ancient writing that I had translated a year ago"

The joking aside, she watched him as he walked over to the bookshelf. When he read to her, her eyes widened and tears escaped her without her notice. When she was done her gazed traveled slowly down to the floor. Glancing over at the chair she had just gotten up from, she quietly walked over and sat right back down. She layed both her hands on the table infront of her and looked at them for a time before intertwining them and layed her head atop them. "Thank you" she said quietly.

"May I see that book? and the heirarchy that you mentioned?"

"Not many vampires know where they cae from. I suspect, this is just one of many beginnings" Connor said softly, looking down at the book.

He looked back up to her, and nodded, "Just be careful with it. Its probably from one of the very first hunters. Its older then I can even tell" He handed the book to her gently, and the translated pages, before going to a filing cabnet and taking out a large piece of paper.

On was a estimated hierarchy, that he had gotten from watching, or from vampires. There were titles, "Master" "Council" "Advisers" "networks or Clans" and "masses" attached to them. He had a generally amount of masses named, four of what he suspected were seven clans or networks. three advisers, and two council members, at least for this city.

He laid it out on the coffee table, sitting down again. "Its not complete, but its still a work in progress" He said

"one of many beginnings?" she muttered, carefully looking at the book. "Then...vampires are a common human curse?" She felt the cover, trying to imagine how old this was. maybe the hunter hunted cain...she wondered if he had succeeded. she gently searched the translated pieces, making sure to keep everything in order. Certainly it would be a pain in the ass to put back together.

She looked up as he spread the information out to be viewed. "I never expect any information like this to be completed...vampire society doesn't chang emuch..but we're good at keeping secrets....though...are you sure you should be allowing me to see this? I never said I was an ally" he looked up at him. though the truth was....she was considering it now.

Connor shrugged, looking over at her, "I'm a determined guy" He said with a smile, "Plus, it was fun complying the information. Do you know how many times I snuck into vampire dens? Whew, nothing like it"

He chuckled, then shrugged, "Lets face it Elizabeth, if you were going to kill me you would have done so when I came up to at the homeless shelther" He said, "And if I was going to kill you, i would have then too"

He sat down, "I'll get that finished one day, and I know it will be a good asset to hunters. As for the beginnings, there are many stories, myths and facts, on how a clan of vampires began. There are seven masters throughout the world after all" he said

She only smiled and shook her head at him. His enthusiasm was adorable..though she found it sort of disturbing that he had snuck into vampire dens. She would need to question him about it...after all she would probably hang around him more, since he was right. If there was chance of either of them killing each other, then it would have happened...though her thoughts still lingered on his threat.

"I'll still remember your promise. Though, it was a threat." she said quietly, and non-chalontly. She flipped through and read another entry. "This book...is interesting."

When he started on the vampire heirarchy , she listened. She really didn't know much about the vampire law system that she lived under, just doing her best to survive under the human laws. The idea amused her- a vampire learning about vampires from a human. "continue"

Connor rolled his eyes, "it was a threat yes, because its true. Kill a human, and I won't have much of a choice but to kill you. Moving on. Each of the seven masters have a hierarchy like this. This is for the city and towns in this territory, which spreads pretty fare" he said

As the moon rose, he could hear the ghost moving about outside, and then the frightened whinny. "Oh, gods, I forgot about Bessie" And he was up, grabbing the iron poker, a bag of salt and iron, and running out the house.

He ran across the yard, to the stable, seeing the flickering apparition of the ghost and Bessie shrieking in her stall, rising up on her hind legs and back down.

He didn't hesitate, slashing the iron through the ghost, making it disappear, he quickly set the salt and iron shavings around Bessie's stall, slashing the ghost one more time, and creating a circle around where it was. Bessie wouldn't like it, but at least he'd know where the ghost was.

He went to sooth the horse, stroking her main.

The ghost was off a young boy, his eyes now mischievous, a somewhat evil grin on his face.

She had been settled in to learn more, but she was interupted by the ruccus from outside.

As Connor went to deal with the ghost and horse, she followed after quietly. Truthfully, she had been interested in the ghost but she wasn't going to bother him about it, and she had more important things to learn about. While Connor was dealing with the horse, she curiously walked around the ghost. He certainly did not look innocent like a kid anymore.

oh well..she was curious enough to try. Flashing the kid a smile big enough to show her large fangs, she sat down infront of the circle, "Hello there. my name is Elizabeth. How about we play a game? But first, I want to know what your name is."
