That's something I'm trying to address with Alpha. Or get a chance to address on my own if he'll answer PMs.Though in his credit you *could* assume that a hundred years after the Nazis that sort of thing died out. But then again, even here in the US the thought of the Confederacy and what it stood for in practice hasn't gone away and people still get deeply offended with CSA imagery. Hell, up here in Michigan a teacher at the high-school I went to faced disciplinary action when he got offended some redneck kid was wearing the Confederate flag as a belt buckle. So even in the ~150 years it's been since they were around and everyone who remembered the Civil War being dead the imagery invokes a lot of strong feelings. I can imagine it'd be the same in Germany. What's surprising to is that despite going with new updated doctrine, the new Reich is back to World War 2 styled tactics. That's dangerous outdated if I may say so.I do suppose that the Germans could have hit the Low Countries first and brushed them aside before moving East. But that should still keep them tangled in the west dealing with partisan movements and perhaps even French offense. I tried to address the Polish bullshit by adding in my app the ASN was hired to assist in German efforts in Poland, which is where they evolved from the IDF to the ASN.

One of my points. WWII-era tactics are going to be extremely outdated by WWIII, especially against multiple countries with modern militaries, sour history with their invaders, and the possibility of a god-knows-how-many-fronts war. If Alpha can create a good explanation, sure, but I have yet to see him give one, never mind the fact that the OFR will likely be constantly embroiled in revolts, riots, or at the very least mass-protests.

Mhmmm.

In any event, he told me in PMs the Poles were the first to be attacked. Then he knocked over the Netherlands and Belgians last.

The thing about African islands is they're already inhabited and claimed. There wouldn't be anything that wasn't there before or undiscovered. We're talking about the crown jewel in European Imperialism in the post-Exploration age. If it's there, it would have been exploited. The only "empty" place left are the darker hearts of Africa, which present logistical challenges all their own that'd make such a research center as hard to maintain as Rapture.Even République des Seychelles - the largest island chain nation in Africa on the Eastern side - would most likely be using all its islands at this point, considering climate change and rising sea-levels compounding the issue of concentrating populations on higher islands. You'd probably end up being more succesful having Rapture than anything to research anti-matter that'll maintain a healthy energy-size ratio.

Not to mention the fact that the particle accelerators themselves would take up huge amounts of space, be extremely expensive to build, take a long time to build, and suck in ludicrous amounts of energy. There's also the fact that a lot of nations are not going to be happy about APRICA trying to make antimatter, and, at the very least, such would make them a prime target of intelligence agencies that aren't interested in paying for the research. That much energy being used and created is going to be VERY visible to any well-equipped government or corporation, both visually (the buildings) and non-visibly; detection equipment is going to go crazy with that much energy in one place.

That still has the issue of the german military handily defeating its Polish counterpart (which, at this point in time, is rather close to Germany in terms of strength), in addition to avoiding the ire of all the European nations around Poland. Many of the countries he invaded, in fact, are major economic partners, particularly because of the EU. It's not like they wouldn't have reason to band together against Germany.

Jeddaven if I actually may purpose a separate thing for you to base your app off of, perhaps a European Federation trying to liberate those particular countries?

And to make them work and fit in such small places would mean they're require a lot of energy. Friend of mine studying in the field informed me that smaller accelerators require an intense amount of energy to maintain, and larger ones require less or something.

I stand corrected, then. I'll remove the antimatter research, though I will say that they keep accurate records of such fields, from antimatter and darkmatter, to various pre-war quantum physics discoveries and the like.

And did you all not give Rogue a tiny portion of Russia [in proportion to the Russian state itself], refuse to make changes, and get mad when he tried to expand with whatever he could get? You get mad at him for wanting all of Russia; you give away all of Russia to someone else.

It seems most everyone is very anti-Rogue, despite him reacting in defense to himself.

.

Yes, I kept up with this [old] one too. Well, I read parts of it.

We got mad at Rogue for more of his Godmodding. I will let Dinh explain it, since I can't actually remember jackshit about that RP at this point.

Rogue wasn't articulate, and he asked for a small bit of Russia as I recalled, or it was as I recalled. What the issue was was when he tried to over-step his ability and godmod all up and down Russia to acquire the rest of it in something short of a week in RP time.

To go to war with the rest of Russia to reclaim it is a matter that'd take years to accomplish. It would have been an epic long-arcing story to write.

What's more is that he had a tendency to do really improbable things. His Russia was apparently connected by a vast underground Metro network and his new Russia's wealth was accumulated from mining out whatever he found when building those tunnels. But most of the rock he was digging it would have been only worth gravel. He also claimed to have large-scale nuclear reactors even deeper powering it all.

He was a pathological god-modder, and if you challenged him on anything he'd throw a childish fit and claim to be the victim where we just want him on everyone else's level so we'd have uniform fairness. I haven't heard good stories about him either from other RP's, such as his factions somehow having a knack for finding spies before they even arrive.

Name of Nation: Forbund Skanska (Scandinavian confederation)

Territories: Sweden, Norway (and all overseas possessions), Denmark (and all overseas possessions) Finland, Shetland Islands, Orkney, Iceland, Greenland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, for a population of 60 million all told.

Government Type: Constitutional Monarchy (Sweden), Confederation (The confederation, duh). There is a king whose powers are increased, however the people still have constitutional protection, and the Riksdag still exercises oversight over the king and exercises all domestic policy. Interconfederate relations between countries are to be controlled by the central government, as is trade with foreign nations. Each nation has its own government that determines domestic politics, however the Forbundsdag (dominated by Sweden as it is the most populous) determines foreign policy, military spending, and aforementioned interconfederate relations.

Military: The sheer impossibility of invading Sweden and Norway effectively over northern Scandinavia in sufficient numbers and the limited manpower in the confederation hinted strongly that they should prioritize the air force. Each country effectively specializes in one element of the national defense. The Finns and Balts specialize in the army, Norway and Denmark in the navy, Sweden in the Air Force. Nationally, the air force is the strongest, the army second, and the navy third (however nuclear missile bearing submarines are nationally priotized). The navy prioritizes submarines, missle cruisers and minelayers as means of sea denial.

Economy: Export of timber, iron, high-tech goods. With the advent of 3D printing, which the Federation has wholeheartedly accepted, manufacturing can be done on a much broader scale, and it had the benefit of freeing up men for military service.

Foreign Policy: The Scandinavian Confederation is fully aware of the difficulty posed by war with its neighbors Russia and Germany, both of which have nearly three times the population. So instead, it endeavors to play the two off each other, and convince both that an invasion would be so tremendously costly as to be not worth it. The Scandinavian Confederation also possesses nuclear weapons to that end.

History: About the year 2014, Scandinavia and the Baltic states as a whole recognized their demographic crisis and took drastic steps. They each instituted drastic policies to raise birth rates, and in concert with new feelings of national pride and optimism for the future as free market policies made everyone wealthy, quickly raised fertility rates to an astonishing four births per woman. During the war, the withdrawal of the US from NATO forced the Baltics and Nordics to look to more practical ends for their defense. The month after the US withdrew from NATO, the Baltic states, Iceland and the Nordics created the Scandinavian Confederation. Finland was convinced to abandon traditional neutrality and join. Orkney and the Shetland Islands seceded from the UK to join as well. The Confederation, per Sweden and Finland’s traditions, maintained hard and fast neutrality, and was soon inundated by refugees.

Foes:Russia and Germany

Demographics:33.3% Swedish, 16.6% Norwegian, 16.6% Danish, Finnish 16.6%, Estonians 2.5%, Latvians 2.5%, Lithuanians 2.5%, 1% Icelandic, 5% other.
Other:(Anything else interesting about your nation?)

Still WIP, but it works for my purpose.

I don't get why you would get the Shetland and Orkney Islands. They haven't been Nordic to any degree for close to a thousand years. They're closer to being Scottish than anything at this point. It's like saying coastal/Southern Ireland should break off from the Republic of Ireland and go to the Danes because there were Vikings there for a long time.

The Estonians - who are also more closely tied with that of Finland itself than the Germanic Norweigens and Swedes- and the Baltic nationalities of the rest of the Baltic region (Lithuanian, Livonia, Pomerania, Prussia), which'd be enough of a basis of ethnic difference that'd be a source of contention.

Also claiming higher birth rates sort of runs contradictory to the pattern of post-industrial societies having lowering birth rates. Especially if they're going to take steps at stuff like sex-ed which enfranchises folks like women and is a way to tell them, "They don't gotta" or how not to.

Also damn, could you maybe use spaces? It's sort of an eyesore to look at that, no offense.

Formating got nuked when I transfered it from my laptop, whose wifi infuriatingly does not work, to my phone.

Wiki Orkney. Their flag is a Scandinavian cross. They celebrate Norwegian constitution day. They and Shetland both want independence within the UK from Scotland. Each was transferred less than 500 years ago.

Birthrates were admittedly handwaved since the Nordics need population and immigrants are tedious to tally. I find it much more likely than a fourth militaristic iteration of Germany, anyway.

The thing about Shetland and Orkney though is that they're now majority British or Scottish, a far-cry from what they were in the early 15th century. Now-a-days only several hundred individuals on Shetland identify as not-British, white (page 18, paragraph 1. The same can be said for Orkney where at least less than .5% of the region identifies as "minority white".

They'd be more readily supportive of Scottish succession than going to Norway or Sweden. The Scots are far less removed in the UK that the old isolated Nordic communities. And from what I've gathered, the bid to join Norway by either Orkney or Shetland is more ironic in the face of another Scottish independence Referendum. And the celebration of Norway's constitution looks to be like how we celebrate St Patrick's day in the US: for one day we get to pretend to be Irish for probably ironic reasons.

It's not to say the US will ever join Ireland, or Boston will succeed from the Union because it's so Irish.
