Anthony called on Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee.

"Hitmonlee, the Kicking Pokemon. The legs freely contract and stretch. The stretchy legs allow it to hit a distant foe with a rising kick. If it starts kicking repeatedly, both legs will stretch even longer to strike a fleeing foe.

Hitmonchan, the Punching Pokemon. The arm-twisting punches it throws pulverize even concrete. It rests after three minutes of fighting. The spirit of a pro boxer has infused this Pokémon. It throws punches that are faster than a bullet train."

"Sherlock! You're up!" Liam called sending out his Alakazam.

"Titania, I choose you!" Shiranui called out his Gardevoir and the two psychics stood on the battlefield. The battle started and Shiranui started with a strategy that would cover for a weakness of the two psychics. Knowing they couldn't take physical hits that well he ordered Titania to use Reflect whilst activating his Mega Ring. Titania became a Mega Gardevoir and proceeded to conjure a dome around the pair that dampened the power of physical attacks.

Liam followed suit, Mega evolving Sherlock. Sherlock traced the Hitmonchan's Iron Fist. Liam ordered a Barrier to help fortify the defenses.
Anthony called for both of his Pokemon to use Bulk Up

"Titania, Psychic on the Hitmonlee!" The Gardevoir used her psychic powers to attack Hitmonlee.

"Sherlock! Confusion on Hitmonchan!" Liam called.
"Hitmonchan, Detect! Hitmonlee, Double kick the Gardevior!" Anthony ordered. Hitmonchan managed to evade the psychic attack and Hitmonlee, after being pelted by the psychic energy attempted to kick the one who attacked him.

Titania got kicked with both of Hitmonlee's feet, but a combination of the Reflect shield and a double resistance to Fighting moves meant the multi-hit attack only did a glancing blow. "Titania, Charm the Hitmonlee!" The Mega Gardevoir winked at Hitmonlee whilst gesturing with her arm. The gesture sent hearts flying towards Hitmonlee.

"Hitmonchan, Bullet Punch on Gardevoir! Hitmonlee, Meditate!" Anthony called quickly. With split second timing, Hitmonchan jabbed at Gardevoir with an iron fist
"Use Psychic on Hitmonchan!" Liam called. Both fighting types were hit by the respective attacks. Hitmonlee began to mediate.

Hitmonchan struck Titania with a super effective hit made more powerful by the Iron Fist Ability. "Titania, Disable the Hitmonchan!" The Mega Gardevoir used her psychic powers to place a temporary mental block on Hitmonchan's Bullet Punch.

"Fire Punch the Gardevoir! Double Kick Gardevoir!" Anthony called.
"Psychic on Hitmonlee!" Liam called. The Psychic energy heavily damaged the Kicking pokemon and put it on its last leg.

The two-pronged attack put Titania on her last legs. "Titania, Rest!" The Mega Gardevoir went to sleep and recovered her health.

"Fire Punch and Blaze Kick on Alakazam!" Anthony called.
"Confusion on Hitmonchan!" Liam called. Sherlock stopped Hitmonchan dead in its tracks with psychic energy and KO'd it. Sherlock was kicked and left with a burn

"Titania, Sleep Talk!" The Mega Gardevoir mumbled something and a Moonblast issued forth, heading towards Hitmonlee.

"Jump Kick!" Anthony called.
"Psychic!" Liam called. Both attacks hit the Hitmonlee, who on his last legs attempted a jump kick, missed and crashed KO'ing itself. Anthony told the two boys that he had a Hitmonchan and a Hitmonlee that he would give the winner a choice between. Liam asked Shiranui if he minded if he took the Hitmonchan

"I don't mind," answered Shiranui, receiving Hitmonlee and renaming his new friend Kettobasu, "Anthony, expect to see us in the P-1 Grand Prix!"

Liam took Hitmonchan and did not nickname it. Anthony said the Grand-Prix started tomorrow so they had to register their one fighting type quickly. Liam registered the newly acquired Hitmonchan. He asked Shiranui if he wanted to go ahead and take on the other gym or wait till after the P-1?

"We should wait," answered Shiranui, "That way we'll have time to get our new friends trained and ready."

"Good point." Liam admitted. He then went to train his new Hitmonchan some.

Shiranui left to train Kettobasu and find out about his new friend's capabilities.

Soon enough, it was nightfall and time to rest for the tournament.
