"What does it say?" Liam inquired.

"'Mewtwo is far too powerful. We have failed to curb its vicious tendencies…'," Shiranui read out, noting how the page was torn from the journal, "The journal's signed by a Dr. Fuji. Could he be that Mr. Fuji guy from back at Lavender Town?"

"It could be." Liam thought. "if it is him, it would explain why he takes care of abandoned pokemon and the graves in the tower. It would be attempting to make up for his mistakes. Not to mention that Mr. Fuji knew about Mega Evolution, which this Mewtwo is said to be able to use and everyone we have used it on here in Kanto has been surprised by it."

[James Davy]

"Well, information about Mega Evolution is rather limited," Shiranui replied, "Any research on it appears to be centred in the Kalos Region."

"Well, I how much longer do you want to investigate or do you want to go pick up our fossils and visit the gym?" Liam then saw a box in the corner. Inside was a contraption that looked like it would fit on a Pokemon's neck, and it had a slot about the right size for a Mega Stone.

"I think we found all there is to find here," answered Shiranui as he looked at what Liam found, "You know, it does make sense for people to make various things for holding a Pokémon's Mega Stone. Titania has her pendant and Iroha keeps hers in her pouch—apparently to teach her kid how to be responsible."

"Well, those fossils should be revived by now, let's go." Liam said.

Shiranui nodded and started making his way out of the mansion.

When they arrived at the lab, the scientists exclaimed that the fossils were successfully revived and handed each of them a Luxury Ball with the Pokemon in it. The scientist also informed them that the Gym has moved to a nearby volcano. The only way to find it is to locate a man at "The Big Riddle Inn " and answer his riddles, and he will lead you to the leader. The town's gym leader is one of the toughest leaders in both Kanto and Johto.

"Thanks," replied Shiranui after receiving his Omanyte. On the way out, he realised, "Liam, do you know where this Big Riddle Inn actually is?"

"Not a clue." Liam said. "Maybe Nurse Joy will know where the Big Riddle Inn is." A man approached them. "If you are looking for The Big Riddle Inn, look for something that always has its hands on its face." The man said.

"'Something that always has its hands on its face.'" Liam repeated. He was trying to ponder what this man meant, but then he realized, this was the man they were told about. He was pondering what the riddle could mean. He then snapped his fingers in realization "A clock! The Big Riddle Inn, must be near a clock." Liam then spotted a big clock tower in the distance. He turned to thank the man, but he vanished.

"The inn must be where the clock is," stated Shiranui.

Sure enough, the huge clock was part of the inn. Liam wondered if they needed to go inside to find this riddle man, or if he was outside somewhere. The man who talked to them before walked up and told them it was his hotel, and for solving the riddle, he would give them a room for the night free. Liam thanked him and asked about the gym.
"The gym?" he asked.
"Yeah, we were told by a scientist in the lab it was moved to a volcano, and that you knew they way. Could you guide us to it please?" Liam asked. The man muttered something about "that Big mouth" and hoped the boys did not hear it. "I will tell you the way, if you solve my riddles three." He said with a smile.

"Even though I do not fly, when I run, it seems like I do."

"Embers fall when I move, Early springtime is my gift to some"

"My fires are more then half as hot as the sun, my favorite stick can provide me clairvoyance."

"Arcanine is the first, Moltres is the second and the last is one of my favourites, Delphox," Shiranui answered with a smile, noticing the riddles were about Fire-type Pokémon.

"Bingo!" the man said. He then instructed the boys to make sure they are ready to face the gym leader and he will lead them there. Liam quickly ran down to the Pokemon Center and got a team of six ready to go and returned.

Shiranui did likewise and the duo were ready to take on the gym.

The man lead them up a path to the volcano. There was an opening at the base, and he told them to follow the path into the volcano. He then, unknown to the heroes took a secret path into the volcano

Shiranui went down the path and he soon felt the heat.

As did Liam. They eventually found a large metal door. He started to reach for it but stopped. "That might not be a good idea." They then heard a voice call out from inside: "Do you wish to challenge my gym?"
Liam replied "Yes we do." the doors slowly began to open to reveal the riddle guy from before.

Shiranui understood Liam's hesitation as the volcanic heat would have made the doors hot enough to give Liam third degree burns. As the doors opened, he saw the riddle guy and had an epiphany. "You're the Gym Leader Blaine, aren't you?"
