I think I more just figured out Kaga's sex/gender (assuming here that she identifies as her own sex) over time...
Might have just been a guess on my own, maybe Kaga said something a while back that hinted/gave away her sex and I'm forgetting it.

BUT ANYWHO, VALEYARD:

Classic spoilers

The Valeyard was essentially an evil duplicate of the Doctor. Which... sounds kind of lame at face value, but holy shit that's just a terrifying idea when you think about it. It's like... the Doctor is already scary when he wants to be. And now he's evil. Welp that's something!

It probably helps that he didn't look exactly the same as the Doctor, either. He was sort of described as a "splintered regeneration", so he looked no more like the Doctor than any of his previous regenerations did. This allowed him to keep his identity hidden for quite a while before it was revealed just Who he was (hehe). Also, when he was revealed, the Master teamed up with the Doctor in order to defeat him, because his logic was basically along the lines of "If only one of the two survive, the Valeyard will wipe the floor with me, but the Doctor I at least stand a chance against in the future." So um... yeah he's pretty damn powerful.

Also interesting to note is that, during the climax of that episode, the Doctor and the Master had seemingly destroyed the Valeyard. However, at the very end, it was revealed that the Valeyard survived, in a rather "dun dun dunnn!" sort of fashion. However, despite pointing out to us that the Valeyard was still alive, implying that he would later return, he actually never did. He hasn't been seen in another episode since.

Also it was implied (sort of... honestly they never explained it well) that the Valeyard was sort of created either at the end of the Doctor's regeneration cycle, or after it, implying that he'd broken the 13 lives rule, which somehow resulted in the Valeyard's creation. This, plus the fact that Moffat kept hinting at the possibility of more Time Lords being in Capaldi's era, as well as the show becoming more like the Classics, all led me to believe that the Valeyard's return was a strong possibility. o.o

And I do think its a decent possibility for Capaldi if they claimed there was going to be more time lords.

I just hope they didn't pull/cancel Valeyard because of negative fan reactions or something. :/

I mean you're right though that it could work well for Capaldi. Especially with that whole "am I a good man" running theme. But like... yeeaaah still terrifying. XD It would be a good terrifying but... yeah.

As for why they never brought the Valeyard back, it was probably just because the series was cancelled only a couple years later. *shrugs*

The quotes look like they're mostly from Eleven's era (though I saw a few from Ten!), so no jelly babies, but bow ties for sure!

Which is surprising, now that you mention it. :/ I mean looking closely I saw that they used "box falls out of the sky, man falls out of the box, man eats fish custard. And look at you, just sitting there!" twice. One of those could've totally been replaced with the timey-wimey quote.

What sort of fucked up writer thinks to himself "Hmm, I have the most terrifying idea for an alien that I've come up with since the Weeping Angels. You know when the best time to use these would be? Christmas." Seriously what the fuck.

Disclaimer: Despite the tone of this rant, though, I did really like this episode.

ALSO the fucking Christmas crackers... too much. D,: I mean... he grabbed her hand, the same way she grabbed his hand... back when he... in the... with the thing... and... and...!



But OH MY GOD the very very end though. That was like... woah. Now that's a Christmas present. I mean... Moffat had been saying for so long now that Clara would be leaving after the Christmas special, so like... when he offered to have her back on the TARDIS again at the end I sort of had that exact same reaction to that moment in Day of the Doctor when Eleven was all like "hey let's just not destroy Gallifrey" where I was all like "...Wait what really? This is happening? What?" and then sure enough they confirmed it at the end saying that Clara would be back next season. Ooooohhhhh my god. The fact that such a Christmas surprise could have even been given in this Internet age just amazes me and I'm so glad it happened. :D

Well like I said, I recommend either Firered/Leafgreen or Heartgold/Soulsilver, depends on whether you'd rather try a Gameboy or DS game.

Feel free to look back at older posts for more in-depth recommendations from Gwazi and I.

ALSO in case it wasn't clear, I suppose I should make sure you're familiar with the idea that Pokemon games are often sold as "twins" as I often call them. It basically means that you'll have two games that are almost exactly the same with only a few differences (usually just involving which Pokemon you can capture, and even then, only a handful of species are different between the two). So for example when I say to get "Firered/Leafgreen" I don't mean you should get both, but rather pick one.

For sake of simplicity, I'll just recommend that you go with whichever one you like the box art for the most.

OH WHICH REMINDS ME I'd also recommend Emerald if you want to play through a storyline similar to that of the recently released Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby.

So my top recommendations are Emerald, Firered/Leafgreen and Heartgold/Soulsilver, in no particular order...
