I went in to take my road exam earlier today. I was super nervous, but I had aced my independent drive in drivers ed (which had everything from the road exam on it plus more) and I spent the last few nights driving around practicing parks.

And the road test was going fine until I had to do my parallel at the end. Out of the dozens of parallel parks I have done before my exam, I have probably only been unsuccessful 3 times while I was initially learning how to preform the maneuver. I'm usually great at them. In my road exam I bumped the curb while doing the parallel in my first two attempts, and parked a couple centimetres too far away from the curb on my final attempt (lined up directly behind the vehicle in front of me, mind you). So automatic fail. If I got it on the first try, I would have had 50 points, and you don't fail until you hit 75 (or get an automatic). Even with my unsuccessful attempts I still scored a 70 but I got that freaking automatic.

I'm going to retake it in Sherwood Park instead this weekend, but I still feel like shit.

Look on the bright side, at least you didn't run a stop sign, get in an accident, and have to go to traffic court.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought, "You should be sorry, if you hadn't made this thread, I could've started my homework!". Then I read your post and thought, " Now that's too bad, now I have to post and I can't start my homework!". XD

That sucks. It's always unfathomably frustrating when I fuck up something that I'm usually perfectly capable of doing, and it always puts me in a real deep funk. If it makes you feel any better, it happens to everyone.

It'll feel better when you nail it this weekend.

I failed the test twice, I was driving before most other people in my class but it was mostly on highways and back-roads, I got confused as hell when you put me in an urban environment (still do). First test I was a little sloppy (had issues with my father on the way to take it), and some idiot almost backed into me as I pulled back into the DMV.

Second time I lost it by one point.

I did the last one is a town called Oconto, middle of winter. Normally I'm fine on the Paralell parking but I got caught and pulled well onto the curb. But because of the ice and snow everywhere, I think the guy thought I just ran over some ice. Passed with flying colors.

I'm still mad that it took me three attempts, but seeing that you fail over 75 makes me feel better (a 25 is a fail in Wisconsin.)

(No, I don't care if they are scored differently.)

Failed my first test because I accidentally backed onto the sidewalk.

Second test? Nailed it.

That means we are better than you bro.

Means our test is harder than yours.

....you must be from Minnesota.

like....that would explain A LOT.

Does your state require a certain amount of driving hours before you can take the test?

Probably still a better driver than I am. I need to pass my test yet, too. :/

This, in essence. "You're only human"; we're fallible and fuck up sometimes. Just don't let it get you down, because you know you're capable of passing it.

Dude, you don't want points. If you get 75 or more points you fail.

I live in Alberta. Also no? I got my learners on my 14 birthday, which you're required to hold for at least a year and until you're over 16.

Next time you parallel park just get out and quickly use your cyborg strength to push the car a few centimeters closer to the curb before your instructor can look at it.

Lucky. In Illinois you get your learners at 15 and need 50 hours of driving and 10 hours of night time driving before you can get your license at 16 or over.

You shouldn't feel too bad, I should've gotten a license a while ago, but I still haven't because I'm too lazy to get the hours.

How do they even check that? Do they embed a microchip in your hand?

They really don't. Everyone I know just has their parents sign off on them.

Oh, I did not realize your scoring system was like golf.
Either way, if you get 15 points off (or on, I guess) here, then you're done.
