Equipment:
Weapons - Malakaus is skilled with a variety of weapons, such as battleaxes, daggers, bows, and his own two fists. His favorite weapon is an orcish battle axe passed down through his family, known as the "Karnage". It absorbs the stamina from foes hit by it's blade, and could cause them to be paralyzed for just a second. He also has a Steel Wazatashi which he got from an old friend, who's ancestor was part of the Blades. He also carries a crossbow of his own design; instead of loading bolts individually above, each bolt must be loaded through a box that Malakaus can fill up repetitively, allowing him to shoot as many bolts as he can until the box is empty. He has four different boxes, each with their own types of crossbow bolts. One is simply plain steel tipped, but the other three has different elemental salts imbue into the heads for additional explosive damage. He can also fit different types of bolts manually, such as a grappling hook bolt. Malakaus even has spikes on his boots and gauntlets to do even more damage in hand-to-hand combat.
Armor - Malakaus wears a unique armor and helmet made from his tribe, merely part of a set known as "The Warchief Regalia". Heavy orcish armor with enhanced steel chainmesh and plates, all covered in treated bear hide. Some would claim that it is more durable than even dragonbone armor, and it's reputation does nothing to dissuade these notions. Malakaus's gauntlets and boots are made in the Stormcloak'sOofficer design, but he personally made them with stronger metals to match his Warchief Regalia. Malakus is also armed with his own Targe of the Blooded, but using ebony instead of steel.
Others - Malakaus has some tools for his work, such as his smithing hammer and tongs, as well as a unique "Pick-Axe", which is one half pick and another half woodcutting axe, so he could use one tool for both purposes. He also has a wide variety of nonperishable food items, his favorite being Veal Soup and Garlic Bread. He also has Sleeping Tree Sap and Skooma, the latter which he's addicted to and the former he uses only when the situation calls for it. Malakaus alas makes sure to be well stocked in a variety of spell scrolls and would sometimes make them himself.
Skills:
Heavy Armor - Malakaus was practically born in heavy armor since his birth, and is something of a master in it. No armor is ever too heavy for him, and physical attacks hardly even tickle him. He could sometimes even bounce attacks right off of him and back towards his enemy.
Blocking - Malakaus is a master of the defensive, with either a shield or a two-handed weapon. Even with his guard up he can't be slowed down and has been known to knock his opponents weapons right out of their hands. He can combine his great durability and speed together and become a orc battery ram, knocking aside any foe who dares stand before him.
Smithing - Just as Malakaus was born in armor, you could say he was also born in the forge. If he's not fighting, he crafting. He's learned from some of the best smiths to work with such things as Ebony and even the much rarer Stalhrim. Most if not all his equipment was made by himself, or at least the materials were gathered by him. But he doesn't just recreate what others have; he uses his smithing expertise to create new and dangerous designs, such as his crossbow.
Enchanting - A magical skill he learned to compliment his smithing, but he went a different route. Though not the best enchanter in the land, he has the honor of being one of the very few who knows the way of scroll smithing, that is to say, creating magical scrolls. They still require the use of souls gems, but so long as he has some parchment and something to mark the paper with, he could create magical scrolls from scratch. His enchanting level allows for his scrolls to be fairly powerful in their own right.
Two-Handed - Malakaus's main means to do battle. Inheriting his family's battleaxe, he's learned over the years how to handle it well. While he is not the most skilled user of the weapon, he's been known to be able to utilize his charges with the weapon to maximum efficiency, and how to decapitate his foes.
Background:
Malakaus was born in the orc clan Vorinclex, a clan that lived in Morrowind. He was the first some of the chieftain, granting him unique opportunities that others could not have. He received excellent training from his father and mother, and was some what spoiled by the rest of his clan. But life was not suppose to be easy for him. Like many before him, and like his father, Malakaus was only allowed to stay with the clan until he was fifteen years of age. It was customary for the next heir of the clan to be allowed to leave the stronghold to see the world. More often than not, what happens is that some friends of the chieftain would take the son under their wing. The friends being the Imperial Legion.
And that is where Malakaus would have gone, where it not for one faithful evening. Halfway between his home and towards Cyrodil, Malakaus's imperial escorts were killed in an ambush. Their bodies were looted, and Malakaus thought that he too would be killed. Instead he was taken in, forced into slavery. They had him working the mine, or forcing him to attack travelers while under the effects of skooma. After a while, he grew used to the bandit lifestyle. After five years of working with the bandits, he become joined their gang properly, gained more freedoms for it and soon rose in the ranks. He was known well for his hardy armor and shield techniques, as well as being one of the only members who knew how to work a forge. When they no longer needed to raid travelers and guardsmen for their weapons, the bandit gang was able to be more productive in their robberies, at least until one day they came across a couple of orcish merchants. Malakaus never felt kinship with just any orc they crossed paths with, but this was different. They did come from Clan Vorinclex. When he slew them and looted through their belongings, he discovered their origins and remembered why he left home. He fled from the bandit gang and went back home, to try to make amends.
But when he returned, the clan had changed. The current chieftain was not his father, but an usurper from another tribe. The new chieftain had killed Malakaus's mother and father, taken their ancestral weapons and armor, and called himself the Chieftain. But Malakaus would not allow this. He challenged the chieftain in single combat, but the chieftain was not honorable, and had the warriors of the tribe attack him. But Malakaus was not so cowardly that he would have fled; he slew the warriors in a great battle, and soon no one dared to step forward to face him even though he was heavily wounded. It was only than did the chieftain step forward to fight, using Malakaus's family axe and armor, Karnage and the Warchief Regalia. And while Malakaus was far more skilled, the usurper's equipment proved to be difficult to defeat even with Malakaus's ability. But using his exceptional skills, Malakaus was able to crash the chieftain's arms, forcing him to drop the axe. Malakaus than took the axe, and while the chieftain attempted to flee, Malakaus cut off his legs. He slew the chieftain took his armor, making Malakaus the new chieftain. But he refused to title. He had lost his way so long ago, and felt unworthy of being called chieftain. Though the tribe returned to the ownership of Karnage, he elected a new chieftain. He would have given the armor and weapon back, but the new chieftain told him to keep it. Malakaus had earned his right to carry the Warchief Regalia and Karnage, and so the tribe sent Malakaus off, wishing him good luck in life.
After he left the clan Malakaus set his sights on the imperial city, where he was suppose to go so long ago. Though he made most of his living as a mercenary, he was more interested in the life as a scholar. Books interested him, told tales of things that he never knew before. Along the way he met a friend, a mage, from the Arcane University. His name was Gaius. Unbeknown to Malakaus at the time, Gaius was part of the local thieves guild, and wanted to use Malakaus's strength for certain heist. But instead, Malakaus preferred to keep to his study of enchantments, providing a different service to Gaius. Though he was working on the opposite side of the law, Gaius was a close friend of Malakaus, almost to the point where they were nearly considered lovers. Malakaus himself was more willing to be part of Gaius' ventures, missing the thrills and danger of robbing and stealing. This was, of course, in between his studies at the Arcane University.
One day however, Gaius left a note and a gift at Malakaus's home. The note simply stated that Gaius had done something very wrong, and knew that he could not stay in the Imperial City. He would leave all Cyrodil together. Gaius told in the note that Malakaus should forget all about him, but it was obvious that this wasn't meant to be taken to heart as Gaius left behind a gift for his orc friend; a steel Wazatashi, a weapon passed down from his transistors who once served as the Blades to the Emperor. Malakaus tried to retire from his life of crime to focus on his Enchanting, but soon he could not resist it's siren call. Donning the Warchief Regalia and taking Karnage, as well as making a few new weapons for himself, Malakaus sought adventure, and soon found himself part of a plot to sail the seas....
