And I really don't like this. I'm pretty sure deadric weapons are only given out to individuals. So what would everyone else be doing while Malakaus makes the trek to Cyrodiil, or Skyrim, or Morrowind, or High Rock, in order to speak with a demigod he has no reason to worship to get a item he has no reason to know of?

I've always wanted to be an Orc with a Shotgun, and this seems like as good of a chance to attempt it as any. And it's still practical as well as a "New" idea for the Elderscrolls. Sure you got magic and stuff, but not everyone likes using magic. I got nothing against magic either, but it's going to take time that Malakaus doesn't have to learn how to throw fireballs or shoot lightning. And there's the idea of Malakaus leaving a lasting legacy, even if it is only in this RP: To be the creator of firearms. Plus it feeds into another thing that Malakaus wants to do: Kill people.

Killing someone with an axe isn't a new thing. While it's exciting and thrilling to get into a melee fight, sometimes you get to the point where it's fairly repetitive. Throw in guns and now there is a new way you need to fight, one that really challenges you. A for a short while, as the one who created guns, Malakaus has an advantage and power over others that he can relish in, at least until he sells the idea or someone else figures out how it works. Either way, Malakaus leaves a legacy behind and hopefully gets killed in battle against the weapons he makes. It would be a good death, and certainly something that would make him more memorable than "That orc who was with that pirate that caused a lot of problems." It leaves an impression and gives Malakaus a chance to die in a new and interesting way.

Plus eventually Malakaus is going to create cannons for the ship once he gets Sharee's help, which we'll need if our Reputation as pirates gets infamous since a bunch of ships are going to start gunning for us. Balistas can only do so much, we'll need something to tip the scales in our favor. Tactic and planning is all well and good, but Cannons will be the simple answer if all else fails.

Why wouldn't Malakaus know about the Azura Star? It's not like the Daedric gods are super secretive, and it would be beneficial for Sharee and the crew to have such a powerful item in their possession. Worship or not, having a item that could contain an infinite amount of souls would be a boon for an Enchanter. Can't say I'm certain what everyone else would be doing, presumably they'd also be helping getting the star, or finding their own artifacts. I don't plan for Malakaus to go after it alone, whether he goes with the Officers or just his own crew is really up to you all.

1) It may not even be that anymore. I'm pretty sure the items change throughout the eras

2) There is no reason to assume that he would. Where would he learn about this from, and its properties? I highly doubt that anyone wrote about it.

I want to make it clear what's been happening here. Within the last few hours you've suggested your character create the gun, and that the whole party should travel to a completely different area in the world, specifically, in order to get the proper metals to do so, despite our reservations. And that the whole crew should travel to a part of the world in search for something completely unrelated to the storyline, of which there may be no historical proof, so that we can have an item, only for the items sake. This all seems rather self-centered to me.

And this is pretty much why this whole thing is a bad idea.

There is one thing I agree with Lucius on, and that is that many people would know of Azura's Star, along with other famous artifacts. There are several popular books, such as Tamrielic Lore that tell of these legendary items. It's just that Daedric artifacts aren't something you just...get. In each of the games, you play as a fated hero of some type, so what you can do there doesn't apply to the majority of Tamriel's people. In order to get a Daedric artifact, you would have to be a faithful servant of the Daedra, or really lucky to come across it, or the knowledge of where to find it. I wouldn't say it would make sense for us to get any artifacts like that, unless it was a major part of the story.

Plus, the Deadric lord needs to accept the offer given. Why would Azura accept something given to her by Malakaus? It's really, just not worth changing the story for.

It's just an suggestion New Yorker, and I don't even know what the plot is beyond "We're Pirates". Azura Star is spoken of in the book Modern Heretics, which can be found in the Mystic Archives at the Arcane University, where Malakaus had spent some of his years learning Enchanting. I'd imagine that he could have asked some of the professors on more information about the Azura Star, if simply for the pursuit of knowledge. Even if they don't tell him anything, Malakaus isn't some soft mage who needs a guardian to escort him; he could very well just take some time off to look for Azura's Shrine himself and ask the coven there. While it's unlikely that they'd allow him to commune or for Azura to take notice of him, unless they try to kill him on the spot they would likely be willing to preach to him about the powers of Azura and her artifact. Why he couldn't get the Star than would likely be because Azura herself does not want Malakaus to be her champion, so the opportunity never presented itself. Things could be different this time, if the Commander willing.

And I'm only making ideas because it's not like Commander has given us a clear set definition of what we're going to be doing later. We have short term plans, sure, but I don't know any overarching plot that demands our attention all the time. Instead of waiting around for something to happen, I'm just filling the time doing something. Despite what you may think, Malakaus isn't just a simple barbarian. He wants to kill, sure, but he wants new and exciting ways to kill. Guns and explosions is new and exciting until, like hitting people with his axe, it becomes boring and repetitive. If he hasn't gotten himself killed yet, he'll likely find new ways to do harm to others. Of course, he'd need money to make guns, and pirating is a fun way to make money that allows him to kill people sometime, as well as a chance to test out new ways to kill people. He has a plan and something to do with his time, which just so happens to work in Sharee's favor.

At least I bother to let you all involved in the success or failure of Malakaus's endeavors. His initial attempt to take on the Miriam didn't go anywhere because I decided that instead of thinking that it'll work because I want it to, I let Ryo decide by making Noelle follow through with it. She didn't, so the plan was a flop. Malakaus Boom Stick won't go anywhere without Sharee's assistance either, since neither one of Malakaus's Alchemist knows what to do with it. If Sharee chooses not to follow through with it, than Malakaus ends up with either a piece of shrapnel on a stick or a glorified club, at best. Even his plans for the Glass weapons and Armor won't go anywhere if Sarel for some reason chooses not to take the chest with him. Hopefully when Sharee sends the rest of the crew to clear out the cave Malakaus can still work on it, but again it's in your hands now.

By the way, I just realized, the Mages guild no longer exists, especially not in Cyrodiil. Were you referring to the college of winterhold perhaps, Lucius? I doubt you'd be so arrogant as to suggest he was in the College of whispers or Synod.

Malakaus never joined the mage guild. Their falling out is actually why he didnt need to jump through so many hoops just so he can enter the Arcane University, which despite the dissolution of the Mage Guild, still exist as a place of magical study. Though you may want to talk to Ryo about the mage guild business since Noelle's backstory heavily features the mage guild more so than mines.

Explosive Runes do though, and they function the same. It'll only be a matter of time before someone tries to create a portable Explosive Rune if they haven't already.

If Noelle was in either of those organizations she would be a completely different person. These are equivalent to the CIA or NSA in the United States. Their members are trained agents. You might as well just say she had a mentor and leave it at that. And if what Lucius says is true, she could use the University campus as a reference point.

But that's just my opinion really, this is EC's RP.

BTW, what you wrote about the timing and Serge is completely false. Serge probably mentioned that about five minutes after the boat left. They needed to row all the way back to the harbor, get all the things in the boat, Malakaus needed to jont through town looking for his men, then head all the way back. That definitely took at least an hour.

People tend to write anachronistically in this RP but that was so many degrees worse.

I edited it a little bit. Since Lucius already posted, I don't really know how we'd incorporate any sort of conversation unless we do a collaboration and then I edit my post again, than insert Malakaus's arrival afterwords.
