Only a small edit, indicating that Umichi didn't realise it wasn't as far as he thought

You know... I'm a bit confused. Why can't Yui feel her feet?
Also, why does she seem so nonchalant on being 3% HP away from truly dying? Is she just really good at understatements?
Also, ingame, there is still hunger. Players still feel hungry.

The system is set up so that the brainwaves are essentially hijacked by the game and so they feel true sensations from the game. Food has taste, attacks hurt, people get fatigued, people can feel the texture of fine clothes on their body, etc.

People were brought to the hospital within two hours of Kayaba informing the players and the world of the state of things in game.

It seems players don't feel the hunger of their bodies in real life. They have no more control of their bodies anymore. After all, they can't feel the nerve gear on their head anymore. So I don't see why they'd feel hunger either.

I think that even without one foot, the sensations will remain as it's done by brain waves etc. Essentially, your brain in game is tricked into believing the body is whole and well, and so sensations still happen. Think of something like phantom pains. A body part that isn't attached to your body is hurting. Something like phantom limbs I guess.

EDIT: Let me explain that better.

The nerve gear is likely sending the signal to your brain of your feet moving and the sensations it feels. The Nerve Gear likely treats you as if you're whole, and so your brain will receive signals as if you still have both feet. Since it's your brain and your nerves that feel sensations, you should still be able to feel things in a foot that doesn't exist through the game.

Unless of course, when Kayaba made the nerve gear reproduce the body features, it also reproduced the lack of a foot, in which case, Yui would be stuck like she was in real life.

Or am I misunderstanding something?

Give me about thirty minutes and I can adequately reply to that. I literally woke up like nine minutes ago

I can answer the last part though.

It wouldn't reproduce the lack of a foot. It can only reproduce the face and head because that's where thee nerve gear is place. Unless when you did the parameter instillation of height and weight and stated that you had a missing foot, then the game would reproduce that.

The players do not feel the hunger of their bodies, nor any pain or essentially anything from their bodies in real life. The game essentially controls when they are hungry, what they feel in the way of pain and everything else. "hunger" in the game and hunger in real life are two different things. Even if they're not hungry in real life they can feel "hungry" in the game due to the NERVgear. So to remove that "hunger" they eat in-game foods. They don't NEED to but, the feeling is bothersome.

I could go into a long version or a short version here. I'll go with short because the long version confuses me.

Short version: In a few complex video games it's required to feed your characters, example The Sims, they also have to sleep, see again The Sims. Continuing with the The Sims example, the more your character does the faster they run out of energy and need sleep, just like in The Sims

EDIT: The game stimulates pain, so while there would be some sensation of pain when running for long periods, or getting cut or bitten or attacked, it would not be debilitating, unless the pain sensor is up to real world levels

I thought people felt no pain in the current version of SAO? Example: When Kirito kicked the heck out of Klein's crotch.

They don't feel pain (I think), but then you see that little bit where Kirito's getting stabbed by that crazy Laughing Coffin member (I'm thinking this may be more psychological trauma, however). There's always the explanation that they dull the pain receptors for that area, because... Well, you know. That hurts. Real bad.

Edit: still thinking about my new character. Weird gender ratios of current players are weird.

Hm...? What weird gender ratios?

Also, about pain... Perhaps this may help?
