"Such splendid work. Truly splendid. Hold on, just hold on a moment. Please put down the gun, don't you remember me? That's right, me. I am here to congratulate you, of course. Of all the projects I've undertaken, of all the metamorphosis' I have supervised, you are the most radiant. You understand the issue with radiance, don't you? It draws in too many moths. The flittering, fluttering wings of the FBI are flapping far too near your brilliance. Do not fret, my dear, take a hint from the sun; you must only be so bright that they never think to fly near you again."

The foundation for this RP is based upon the multitude of stories concerning Hannibal Lecter. It is expected that when you show interest here that you have some kind of familiarization with the mythos. If you do not, that is also fine, as long as you let me know before you submit a character. I will try my best to provide an in-depth analysis, from my prospective, of the Chesapeake Ripper, as he is sometimes known (as necessary).

Here's where things get a little complicated, I do not believe this story will follow the story of Lecter, but rather, someone who was infinitely inspired by him. This person will likely have characteristics similar to Lecter and will commit similar acts, but will be totally independent. This should be a character driven roleplay as the plot will be very open to interpretation, This serial killer will probably be controlled by myself, unless someone feels like they are up to the challenge, and are willing to work with me very closely. The PC will vary greatly (I hope). They can be anything from a psychologist working with the FBI, to a survivor of the killer. Due to the nature of the investigation, and the variability of the location of the crimes, there might not be any "local cop" characters, but rather FBI agents, or even trainees.

As you might be able to tell, the plot is not set in stone, the main characters are not fleshed out, and the GM is a little nervous ;)

Rules:

-No Godmodding: Fairly simple, don't take control of another persons character without permission, and do not make your character know or do something that would otherwise be impossible. This rule is especially important in this RP because I will be revealing very important details about the primary villains actions and it is up to you not to meta game.

-Be respectful: Whether it is me, your co-writers, or a guest coming to check out the thread, I'd like a high level of respect and decorum.

-Be responsive: I don't expect everyone to post everyday, I won't be able to certainly, but I do expect a certain level of communication. If I call out for you in the OOC, and definitely if I PM you, I expect a response in a timely manner. I'm not fussy about this sort of thing but I figure it's best to set a standard for it.

-Have fun: It's very important that you and everyone else involved is having a good time creating, and reacting to these interwoven stories. It's a collaborative writing experience just as it is a collaborative entertainment experience. You need to care for your co-writers entertainment just as much as you care for your own.

Name: Anne Sanders

Age: 27

Gender: Obviously, female

Appearance:
((NOT my own art. I found this on google images, and credit goes to the artist who I couldn't recognize or locate))
Anne is about 5'6'' and has red hair. She is of a shorter and petite, but sturdy stature, and often has a child-like appearance despite being almost 30. She appears younger than she is, which doesn't bother her much, and comes in handy-- giving her a look of non-suspicion and innocence, which her department often take use of in undercover positions.

Personality: Anne is a typical woman, with a full-time job that takes much from her daily life. Not yet married, she has had a boyfriend for a year and a half now, though their relationship is still in a rather casual stage. She sees marriage and family in her future, but it appears far off, and she mainly spends her time in the workplace. A forensic analyst, she spends most of her time at a desk, but on the off-chance does travel to crime scenes or works closely with the FBI or the other members of her police department.
Anne has seen some gruesome stuff, but has the ability to distance herself and work past the emotions that come to rise when she sees butchered children or sobbing mothers. She has a soft, motherly soft spot for these kinds of people, but doesn't often lose her cool. Although she plans to have a large, loving home in the future, her job has made her feel more comforted than afraid- she feels safe in her community and apartment. As a forensic analyst, she has great attention to detail, and a strong, loyal connection to the rest of her team and police department. Mentioned before, there have been times where she went undercover for small cases, which wasn't very safe considering that she has nearly no training in combat or weaponry.

Bio:
Anne("Annie") grew up in the same city where she now works as a forensic analyst. Despite having only been in the field for 3 years so far, she has risen rather high in terms of authority and status due to her drive, skills and lack of personal life. She feels rather well-liked in her job, and while she does want to move up to detective or chief positions, she is in no hurry, and knows that if family were to come into the picture, she would most likely leave her employment entirely.
Anne's love for large families and sweet motherly figures spawned from her childhood. She lived in a humble home with three sisters, two younger and one older, and while her family could be seen as poor, nearly often relying on food-stamps or other aid to get by, neither she nor her siblings ever felt unhappy. This was in part due to their mother, Katherine, who was a sweet, energetic woman with a Southern accent smooth as honey. Annie still can't remember a day when her mom-who quit work to stay home- wasn't with her and her sisters, cooking large, Southern dinners, gardening, or decorating their crowded, two-bedroom home with yard sale antiques. Despite their financial difficulties, their home was always full of happiness and laughter. Peter, her father, worked long hours at a local butcher shop. He worked nearly daily, and usually his daughters would only see him on the rare, work-free Sunday or hear him coming home once they were already in bed. They often missed their dad, but were able to build a good relationship with him once their bedtimes extended past 8pm and they could spend time with him after work. Shortly after Anne moved out for college, Peter died from a stroke, leaving his family without a father/husband, but luckily with enough money to get by.
Once all four of her daughters left for college, Anne's mother reluctantly moved out of their childhood home. She sold it and instead bought a small apartment, just big enough for her to live comfortably with a little financial help from her children. Just a few blocks away from Anne's complex, they see each other often, and spend countless weekend nights just talking or sharing dinner. Katherine is Anne's rock and support, just as she always was for all of her daughters, and she is well taken care of by her children who couldn't live or breathe without her.

Notes: Not sure if we are doing this or not, but it was discussed that Anne could possibly be, as a last resort, used as a lure/bait for the serial killer. She's also going to work closely on this case with the others.

Nice work, Aidilein, very nice cs.

I mentioned in the interest check that I didn't want local cops, but you've developed such a great, flexible character I don't see any reason to reject her. What do you say to her being recruited by the FBI?

Oh crap I completely forgot about that...
I didn't really mention what city she is in, so she doesn't have to be in the same place as where the murderers happen, correct? She can be recruited by the FBI(I like that idea) and called in somewhere else! ;)

Your call.

Certainly. You can place her wherever you see fit and I'll have an npc approach her for a job. Here's the thing, in order to join the FBI, you usually have to want to. Do you think she might have sent in an app for consideration?

We can also do a collaborative post for the initial meeting.

I think that would work well. :)
We can make it that she submitted an application, and my first post can be her getting the news that she got called in to a city a ways away for this case. She can be telling her mother about it or reading a letter.

I'll leave those details to you.

I'd like to wait for some other interest maybe before starting brainstorming. I'll try to get a cs up tomorrow, we'll see UHF we have any responses by the end if the day.

I said in the interest check that I would be willing to play out the serial killer that these people wold be hunting... would I be required to openly submit a CS for him, send it to the GMs, or just submit a character basics to the GMs?

And unfortunately I said that I'd have to put the killer on ice. I have some c very specific things that I want in his posts. Your character could be a patient of the killer. I believe that the killer is going to have a psychological tendency to influence those around him, to transform them. He is going to have a pathological need to create chaos. So anyone who he deems worthy of his Becoming, would essentially be persuaded into insanity.

I'd be happy to work something out with you if you feel like this is something you'd like to do.

Hmmm Would a Will Graham-like character be acceptable? Specifically someone who is incredibly intelligent, incredibly insightful into the criminal mind, but because of those, he is rather socially incompetent and mentally malleable to the killer?

That would be an acceptable archetype to go off of, certainly. But I don't want Will Graham, and I don't want the same thing that has played out in Hannibal's career to just be rehashed here. I expect that this plot will be quite different while still showing a respectful similarity.

That being said, and as long as you understand those guidelines, I give you my blessing to create a criminal pathologist with both extreme skill and mental damage (or whatever kind of person you'd like to create).

Name:
Mark Vern

Age:
32

Gender:
Male

Appearance: (Words necessary, picture optional)

Tall, standing at around six foot four inches tall, and muscular in a lean way. His eyes are a dark blue, always furrowed, always hard to read. His face seems constantly plagued by a five-o'clock shadow that can grow into a rough, dark beard if he isn't careful. His hair is an unruly mop of brown that, no matter how hard he tries, he will eventually end up looking like he just got out of bed. He usually dresses chic casual, not because he likes to be a fashion monger but because it's easier and more comfortable than the suit that the FBI would otherwise have him wearing.

Personality Rundown:
There is no superficiality to this man, thus he isn't exactly the man to call on for social functions. He will say what he means, when he means it. Velvet lies are an unknown concept to him. Sharper than you'd like, intelligent, and cynical. If you saw the world the way he did, you would be the same way. He is an expert at micro-expressions as a regular pass-time, but the skill that he is employed by the FBI for is as a psychological profiler. The devil is in the details, and he can tell the state of mind of a killer from the details left behind at a crime scene. At least, the state of mind that the criminal was in when he committed the murders. Of course, this is a skill that he can't turn off, so he sees everyone through their details, how they dress, how they work and assimilating their thoughts and future actions is something that is so painfully easy for him that he prefers the solitude of his own home when he isn't working. Nothing like dating someone who is a pathological liar and cheated on her last five boyfriends to ruin you for the market.

Bio:
He grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo, New York, where his father was an aspiring lawyer and mother a nurse. Both worked hard to keep their family as the pregnancy was an accidental blunder in college. They had a nice little place, not too far from where either of them worked, and close enough to the stadium of a local baseball team that they usually went there on game weekends. His father started drinking around the time that Mark turned 3 and it just got worse and worse. Around this time, it almost became a reflex for young Mark to be able to read his father's mood by his face. Sometimes he might look like he was in a bad mood, but if Mark asked him for money for a comic book, he would just give it to him to keep the boy from interrupting. Other times his father might look like he was in a good mood but he could flash into something ugly the next, beating wife or child, whichever one was closest. Mark, of course, hid this from teachers and friends in school, covering up the bruises on his face with his mother's make-up when she wasn't looking. It made him a proficient liar at a very young and impressionable age.

When he was 11, one Sunday, him and his father went to the stadium to watch a game. It had been a nice day, with good weather, not too hot and yet with the sun shining brilliantly. His father bought him a hotdog and popcorn during the game and an ice cream afterwards. When they got home and father was called away, Mark found his mother washing clothes and he asked her," Mum, why is daddy leaving?"

This shocked the mother of course, who boxed his right ear and told him that his father wasn't leaving, and that he had to hush that instant about it. He was pained and he rushed off to his treehouse, which he had built with his father's help and was his safe place. Of course he was leaving, he thought. Why couldn't she see it? Of course, father left three days later, packing his things in the dead of night and leaving them a note as well as most of the cash. After that, his mother avoided him like the plague, afraid of him. Forced to raise himself by the time he was 12, he was self sufficient and he threw himself into his studies. He went from being an average student to straight A's in all subjects. He didn't engage in sports and only got involved with a girl for the Prom. Otherwise, he was a loner at the school. He graduated from highschool with honors and was offered a scholarship in Harvard. He studied psychology, criminology and criminal forensics, all of which he graduated among the top ten of his classes. Jobs all over the country appeared for him, but instead, he moved to join the FBI. The Academy was a bit more difficult for him, requiring him to fraternize with the other trainees, and he barely passed that, becoming a forensic instructor at their base in Washington D.C.

Notes:
He likes motorcycles and has five cats.

Excellent cs, really splendid. I know how tough these cs can be, especially when you put a lot of thought into it, which I can tell you did.

The only issue I have with it is that the FBI headquarters will be in DC, in the J Edgar building there.

That's it though

Weaknesses is that he doesn't work well with others, and his mind works so easily into another person's that he has very little of his own personality, which makes him easy to manipulate...

He's a very skillfully written Will Graham-esque character.

You're both accepted btw. I'll put the links up in the cs' soon.

Has anyone else been having trouble getting on?
