Not sure what Kho's gonna do, but do expect a little welcoming reconnaissance party in Tortuga from a certain Royal Navy captain.

I did speak with him, I told him I wanted him to change some things (because I had to edit what actually happened in real life to fit what's happening in the RP) and he doesn't seem to have liked that. I haven't heard from him since.

@Jangel I don't mind if you do that, so long as it's advancing some plot you have in your mind.

At the moment the RP seems to be going ahead ok, there's no need for me to step in or do anything, everyone seems to be doing well for themselves. If anyone IS stuck and doesn't know where to go or what to do, shoot me a PM and I'll sort you out ;)

Not only is it easier to repair a ship in Tortuga but the island has an inland harbour made accessible by two channels, the waves would lose a great deal of power once they hit the continental shelf and are further dispersed by the islet making the channels.

Huh, TIL. Normally it would be safer to ride it out in open water though, if I recall correctly.

My, things are getting rather interesting now. Everyone is in Tortuga, there is pretty much no governor (other than a Pirate Baron living in a castle mentioned in one of the posts) and the weather is foul, so no one is getting away any time soon :P
I'm reserving the right to end the storm by the way, so for now, there will be a horrendous storm indefinitely.

Jangel, your writing is getting much better, but in that last post you kept switching between third person and first person. Try to stick with one or the other.

That's my problem with long posts when I try to write in third person I write in first subconsciously

Click This is absolutely correct. There's a danger to being in a port when a big storm comes particularly in ports open to the sea. Ships can be bashed against one another, beached upon the shore, and occasionally foundered. However, salvage in a port is much simpler than at sea. Tortuga, according to the map, is an inland port so a storm front would be double impacted. First, the waves would strike the continental shelf, some miles off shore, stealing much of their height and power. Then they have to pass over a small slab of land to get to the port and further breaks the waves. Beyond that you're only worried about the wind so as long as you reef your sails completely you're pretty much fine.

As Click This said, most ships just prefer to get out of the damned way when they see a storm coming :) The good part is that there's plenty of wind in a storm front to help a ship move more quickly to escape the path of a hurricane :) Even aircraft carriers, thanks to weather radar, run from large storms for fear of being overturned.

Hmm, a few of the players have been gone a while, Moslty, Vantas, Dawnstar, Joe. Definitely not a good sign :/
If they haven't posted by tomorrow I'll post to get things going once more.

Hopefully their tongues will stay where they are!

Fir's thought it out a bit, and only took about 50 men, half of which were officers and rest experienced seamen. And that half of the men are to stay on board, so if shit does go down, they still have a fighting force available and perhaps an avenue of escape.
