I'm sorry for asking, but I'm very new to the site, so I've gotta ask, what's with the coding? (Yes, I can read, but what you've put doesn't make sense to me.) If you both could explain, that would be very helpful to my understanding. Thanks bunches!

Eh... Alright, so, I guess I could try my hand at explain this. See, the site doesn't really use a complicated coding cause, during the last days of 2013, the site was gone. The host, for some reason or another, could not support the site and it was wiped form the face of the Internet. When the guild was resurrected, the site no longer used the same Forum host, and the owner started from scratch. So the Code is now much more simplified, but also without any unique features such as coloring and what not. But since it's made from scratch, it's also a bit buggy at times.

Also the way you worded your question confuses me, but I'm assuming you're asking why the coding for things like bold, italics, etc is like the way it is right now.

Well, actually I was wondering why you were using coding instead of just using narration and more descriptive wording. I was inquiring onto why there was a use of coding for distinguishing between when your character is talking and someone not your character is talking - which was noted that there were only our characters in the town and no other living souls - and so forth.
I've been on many sites that have QQCode/BBcodes and this is the first time I'm seeing anyone use coding for distinguishing difference in speaking tone, and in Ursa's case using it to denote narration as well (though the cross out thing I have seen before.)

I mean, I'm using it for Milo and Otis because they're just voices in Wayne's head and not really a 'Milo said' kind of thing since no one else is going to hear the voices. I'm trying to avoid any kind of confusion regarding them.

Oh. That I can explain a bit better: It's easier to read. IF everything was a neutral color like right now, it gets sort of hard to keep track of what's being said and done. If Bold, for example, is being used for dialog than if you should respond to me you can just glance at my post and see what my character is saying instead of having to track down the quotation marks and trying to keep up with it, especially if I get into long winded explanations that dip in and out of dialog. It also helps make it clear what certain dialog is. If I speak in Italics that means I'm thinking, and your character shouldn't respond to it unless he can read minds. Using both Bold and Italics is often just used for dramatic effect, but generally I consider it to be spoken dialog unless otherwise informed.

Some circles also see it as a sort of placement test as an RPer, as most new Rper's don't know the code well enough to use it in such a matter.

Ah. Well that makes sense I guess. That all seems like it would be a bit confusing if not everyone does it in an RP, to me anyways, though. Just to be honest there. But it does make sense as far as speaking goes. Have you been in many other RPs where people have used coding to the extent that Ursa has listed?

Do you think that what I've done for Milo and Otis might get confused with the coding you're using? (And would you recommend I use it as well?) Because I can always alter Milo and Otis to a different text format (i.e. {Doing something like this for Milo} and <Something like this for Otis.>)

Before the guild got purged, most high-casuals try to use the code to color their dialog, though it's really just a personal preference. Most people don't use the code because it's tiresome to have to constantly type out the code, or because they use their phone of tablet which makes it difficult. Since the guild doesn't have color codes yet, don't expect a lot of people to use Bold or Italics. So far only a few people would bother to do that. at least in places were I RP.

As for your two voices, since only your character can hear them, I don't think you should need to try to identify them differently. You may want to just keep them both as Italics (Thoughts) so our characters don't mistake Mio and Otis for what your dude is saying. Your dude should either use plain font (No bold or italics) or Bold, though that's just my opinion. Do what you will.

On the previous page, I had posted the QQCode I would be using for them to help people differentiate, but then Ursa posted up but coding for text that made me start to worry. I hadn't realized other people would use coding. But I also need to differentiate Milo from Otis for myself too, and for when Wayne speaks back in his head, so that's why I didn't go straight up with just italics. I guess I'll just figure out something else.

Don't worry, I usually just use the usual "talking", 'thinking'...anything else is if I have more than one character, or if I feel in the mood for dramatics.

Okay, thanks for the reassurance. =) Like I said, I can always make the alteration (as shown above) if needed. Really trying to keep any kind of confusion to a minimum.

Maaaan, I've never used coding for posts in all my years... well, how about!:

Talking
Thinking
Narration

Hopefully this is alright! You'll have to forgive me for the late post, I think I'm in the usual spot and in a good few timezones away from everyone. xD

If you have room for one more, I would like to submit a character.

I will work out a sheet if you have more room, but for now, you can call my character a "White Knight."
