[IC] Trying to save the world (Xion and Caits)

Kalinda watched the fight, wided eyes, she held her gun at the ready, feeling the others beside her, seeing Hannah taking aim with her bow, clearly looking for a good shot like Kalinda was. She didn't know about the others, but she watched with horror as Frost blew Michael from the sky, and Kalinda cried out, taking one second to aim, before firing at the same time as Hannah did.

She shouted in fury, "you're a coward, Frost! What, can't get it up unless you have an army at your back? Scared of a group of teenagers? You're a monster!" She fired again and again, her camouflage hid her as the others ran into the building, and when they were in, she followed suit, soon reaching the top of the building

Michael still wasn't moving, Connor was on the roof. First seeing Michael on the ground, he didn't know if he was alive or not. He threw his sheildat frost, before he caught it again in his hand. He kept running toward frost he was dodging the blasts from the staff. As he ran forward, Zach landed on the roof.

He looked around, seeing that Michael was on the ground not moving. He started charging frost from the sky, throwing his hammer at frost to only have him dodge his hammer. He started going toward frost, he was angry that he didn't get to Michael in time.

Kalinda stared at the scene on the roof, kneeling down briefly by Michael, before she judged where Frost was Kalinda knew that Frost was expecting somewhat...magical attacks. Attacks no regular human could give. Zack, with his Hammer, Connor being a super Solider, Tory the genetic freak that she was, Hannah and her bow, her skills, Michael with his suit.

Kalinda had nothing no other human could learn. She had been trained since she could walk and talk in the ways of fighting, of spying. But anyone, with dedication and time, could learn that. She wasn't anything special. And that was why she was going to take down Frost, because he was expecting Special. Kalinda was faster and stronger then she had any right to be, given her height and weight, but again, that was training. Sure, she had some abilities, like the naturally fast healing she got from her mother, but beyond that..nothing.

She wasn't aware she was running until she flung herself off the roof, judging the time right, and smashed into Frost, a Dagger in one hand. "I'm going to kill you" She said, her voice soft, "Even if I have to kill myself to do it"

Michael finally groaned, his hands pushing himself up to his knees. He got out of his suit, there was a big hole in the middle of his chest plate. He got out of the suit only keeping one of the pulsars on his right hand. He clutched his chest with his left arm. Frost only smiled, "I don't think you want to put your boyfriend in anymore danger than you should. There's a piece of the cube inside of him now so if I wanted to I could just make his chest collapse in on itself."

Michael was back on his feet, he hurt like hell. He looked down at his chest, the arc reactor his father had finally perfected was in his chest. He saw a weird blue light coming from the piece, he took his shirt off just to see a piece of the cube in the arc reactor. Frost smiled at the sight, "or I can just make sure the arc reactor that's keeping him alive I can just make it malfunction and in the end make it turn off and it would end up by him dying."

Kalinda didn't even have to hesitate, as she saw the ruined city once more, imagined the families torn about, the lives lost. She couldn't be selfish. "Some things are bigger then the death of someone I care about" she said, bringing her dagger up, imagining the children who might not have parents, the parents holding their lifeless child's body, the woman or man shaking with grief for their lost partner. Any number of people could have been killed by this attack.

And she had a chance to stop it.

"Monster" she hissed, bringing her other hand, now holding a dagger itself, into Frosts gut, as her other dagger aimed for his throat.

Frost only laughed, "suit yourself then." With that Michael collapsed on the ground, Connor ran over to him. Doing CPR on him, Zach looked at frost "your beat all of us know that but you wanted to take one more life before you gave in." Frost only laughed again, "i rather hurt the Starks about killing there own son it was fun while it lasted though still wanted to be king of the world though."

Connor took the staff out of frosts hand, "all you'll be having is death yourself frost." With that Connor got the staff, through the Sheild and touched the cube with it. Shutting down the portal, and cutting off anymore reinforments that were coming to the aliens aide. "Your going to die frost and all of us know that even Michael knew that."

Kalinda felt, more then saw, the portal close, and she screamed. She screamed in frustration, in rage, and in grief. But she didn't let herself cry, as she began the process of tying Frost up, even though she wanted to kill him. She went through the motions almost mechanically, without any feeling, even though her fingers felt numb. She swallowed and stepped back, and then she turned, to where Zack was trying to save Michael.

She walked over, kneeling down, unable to think of anything to do. "Please, Michael" She whispered, her throat raw, her voice thick with emotion, trusting the others to watch Frost.

Zach was still trying to get his friend to breath. Every now and again Zach would put his ear to Michael's chest before beginning the process again. Hannah and Tory were watching frost, while Connor was kneeled down next to Zach he swallowed he knew frost was sick but he didn't know frost was that sick.

Finally Zach just shook his head, he knew it was useless to try. Still he didn't stop even though he heard the words being whispered from Connor. "Zach come on he's gone already we were to late to come and help him." Zach still didn't stop, Connor had to drag him away from Michael's body even then Zach struggled against Connors hold.

An idea formed in Kalinda's head, and even though she knew it was probably helpless, she just couldn't help but...hope And she would hate herself forever if they didn't try everything. "Zach" Kalinda said sharply, perhaps harsher then she had intended, "The arc reacter, from his other suit. Its on a building, with the jet. Get it, now, you can get there, with the lightening, quicker then anyone else" She moved to where Zack had been, smoothly starting compressions again. The most important thing was to keep the compressions going, to keep the blood circulating.

" Damn it, Michael. I said no dying" She kept her movements smooth, timing it perfectly for a natural heart beat, leaning down every thirty compressions to breath air into Michael's lungs. Two breaths, and back to compressions. It seemed like a never ending cycle.

Connor finally let go of Zach as soon as Kalinda said. He started flying towards the jet, finding Michael's other suit, that was the thing though he isn't know how to get the arc reactor out of the suit, an idea came to himhe started getting the other pieces of the chest plate unhooked, till he was holding it in his hand.

He started flying back, but none of them had dealt with the other aliens yet. A few aliens started chasing him through the town. He had to figure out a way of getting rid of these things so he didn't lead them back I the team. He had to think fast with Michael's life on the line.

Kalinda kept on with the chest compressions, setting herself into a rhythm of gin and tonic, reciting it over and over in her head. It was a quick, effective and perfectly spaced way of conducting the compressions so there was near 100 compressions per minute.

She knew she wouldn't be able to keep this up forever, and as she continued with the compressions, she looked up at the sky, for some sign of Zack, "come on, Sparky. Hurry back"

She looked down at Michael, for some sign that he was there, that he was coming back, that he was going to breath on his own. "Please" She whispered, never once breaking her rhythm.

Zach had finally lost the aliens on him, he watched tem crash into another building. Before he flew back to where the team was. He didn't know what Kalinda had in mind for the extra arc reactor. Still he would follow orders since she was Michael's girlfriend and he knew she would want him back more than anything.

He landed on the roof, just behind the main group. He walked up to Kalinda the arc reactor in his hand. He kneeled down next to her and looked at Michael. He still wasn't breathing, he suspected two reasons. Frost had made his chest collapse in on itself or had blown Michael's arc reactor to bits the one that was keeping him alive.

Kalinda swallowed, looking up when Zack returned, "I have no idea what I'm doing" She said softly, truthfully, "But I have to do something, right?" She examined the arc reactor. She had no idea what frost had done, but...

that was the strange thing about humanity. Even when you didn't know what to do, you still tried. And She had, somewhat clumsily and probably poorly helped when fixing the suit before. So she could try, at the very least. She figured out, quickly, shifting so Zack could contnue with the chest compressions, how to replace the arc reactor, but her fingers were shaking, and she had to stop a minute.

take a deep breath she told herself, and she did so, continuing with what she was doing. When she was finished, she leaned back, biting her lip, hardly daring to breath.

Michaels chest was beginning to rise, and fall as he started breathing again. He groaned, then coughed as air was making it into his lungs and out. He was supposed to be dead, he knew that much at the very least, but somehow he was alive again he didn't know how yet. He opened his eyes slowly, he saw kalinda and zack kneeling over him. He also saw that the old arc reactor in kalindas hand. "you saved my life."

He wasn't daring to move not yet, he didn't know if there would be anymore nasty surprises yet. He would wait till he was ready to sit up, he just looked at the sky. He was glad to be alive, still though he didn't know what to think yet. Michael had cheated death, because of kalinda he didn't know if that was going to happen while he was with kalinda or not. Still he wouldn't complain if he was alive.

Kalinda lowered her head and closed her eyes as Michael began to breath. The old Arc Reacter was held loosely in her hands, as he spoke. "Despite you trying very hard to kill yourself, yeah. You're own fault, really, letting me help on the suit" She said softly,

"I just had to be a little selfish...I'm sorry"

She opened her eyes, looking at Michael, "Besides, Zack did the hard work, really. All I did was change the reacters" She didn't want to think about what would have happened if there wasn't another suit. She rose, placing the old one down, before going over to Frost.

Duty was heavier then anything she had every come across. "You're done" She said to Frost, "S.H.I.E.L.D can have you now"

Michael slowly got to his feet, unsteady for a moment before he got himself to balance out. He looked toward frost, "your not going to be able to see the outside world with what you have done here today frost." He looked up just as a SHEILD ship came into view. "Looks like your getting picked up," he hauled frost to his feet, fury came out of the jet "I can take you back to your parents Michael."

Michael looked over his shoulder at the team, "tell my parents that I found a family of my own that I can be myself in my dad will understand that." With that he back up, till he was by Kalinda's side. Slipping his hand into hers, "just make sure frost will pay for what he has done here today." Fury nodded as he got back in the ship.

Kalinda watched as the SHEILD ship came into view, and Fury appeared, collecting Frost, and telling Michael he could give him a lift home. She gave Michael a soft smile when he looked back at them, which turned into a beam as he stepped back, and took her handd. She watched as Frost was taken away, giving Michael's hand a squeeze.

She looked over her friends, over Michael, and said, "So, do you think we have to do clean up, or can we go relax for a bit?" she said, glancing over the city briefly, pulling her suits hood off as she spoke.

Michael thought for a second, "I think we've more than earned relaxing for a bit." He saw Connor and sack fist bump each other, he shook his head. He looked at Kalinda, "plus I am really sorry for doing that to you even though it was for a few minutes I am still sorry." He looked up at the sky, watching the SHEILD ship fly off back to there base.

He looked over the ruined city, he sighed at the thought of helping clean this place up. He looked over at the team, then at Kalinda he gave her a smile. He could get used to this since, he had found a whole new family his dad always said find a place that you belong well looks like he had found it.

"Wasn't your fault. I made a choice. Save a city, or be selfish and save you" Kalinda said softly, "I didn't want you to be disappointed in me, not could I live with myself if I didn't save the city and it's people. It's not a choice if really like to make again any time soon, so don't get yourself in trouble again" she looked over the city, feeling a little haunted. She looked away.

She caught Michaels smile, returned it, ran a hand through her hair. "Well, how about we get off this building and see if there's anything we can do before relaxing? Some people might be hurt"

Michael nodded, "JARVIS send all the suits and help out clean the city I think dad will understand." "Yes sir," I see the suits after a few minutes he gets into a new suit. "I'll make sure I come back to you this time," then he flew down to help he got some metal back into place on a building. Then slowly brought up the glass, for the building and put it in place.

A few hours passed, Michael was flying through the streets. Trying to find Kalinda before he saw her and landed by her side. He soon started helping out on what she was doing getting metal attached to metal again helping out on repairing the building itself then landing back by Kalinda.
