Honestly, I'm super burned out. I found out someone I really admired and respected is actually a piece of shit predator, and there was a lot of fall out and drama in the wake of that. People I considered decent ended up rallying around him, and it's really soured me on the community tbh. I've withdrawn a lot from it for my mental health.

PAX was amazing tho! I spent the time with my husbandito and my bestie and it was super chill. I got a selfie with Mikey Fuckin Neumann and got to spend Saturday with the Borderfam and it was amazing <3 <3 <3 I had a blast and played loads of great new games. The indie games at PAX fuckin killed it this year!! I've got Geek Girl Con next weekend, and one of my great friendos is coming up from Portland to cosplay Pharah to my Mercy <3 <3 <3 it should be fun!

That's shitty, I'm so sorry that happened. I think it times like that, the best thing you can do is withdraw, especailly if its affecting you mentally. I hope you're feeling a little better now.

I'm doing better than I was, so things seem to be on the up and up :)

I might wear my psycho to match my buddy's Nisha. Or maybe I'll wear Candela. Or I might just only cosplay one day and carry bags and be a cosplay handler for the other. I'm undecided atm.

That's good, especially considering how shocking that can be, certainly in those circumstances. I hope things get easier and mellow out for you!!

How long does it normally take you to make a standard outfit? I know armour can make things more difficult

It depends, tbh. I've made cosplays in as little as 2 weeks (my first Maya cosplay that is like, SO BAD), but if I'm sewing it usually takes about 3 months or so. Most of my cosplays I improve over time though, so it effectively takes longer. My Psycho is probably the easiest cosplay I've done, since it was mostly painting. I busted out the armor for two psycho cosplays in an afternoon, because knee pads and shin guards are hella easy. I really like armor and I'm hoping to get more into it.

My next build is doing Mercy's Winged Victory skin, because that shit looks comfy af

Oh that's crazy quick! But I suppose if its a quick one then that makes sense. 3 months shoulds pretty average but its awesome that you don't just rush them and take the time to make them.

Oh, don't get me wrong, those three months are utterly consumed by drafting, sewing, and crying. I always end up having to finish sewing in the hotel the night before the con.

I'm going to have a lot of the jewelry/wings/staff 3d printed. My buddy just got a massive workshop space, and we're collaborating on designing and drafting the pieces. It should be fun! I'll probably just freestyle the patterning for the dress itself since it's pretty simple, and paint on all the embroidery because I am lazy af

The end product is probably still amazing though! Even if the whole journey isn't as pleasant as it's wanted to be.

I'd say that's cheating but fuck 3D printing is the future of cosplay! That's a really neat idea! Hopefully it isn't too difficult to get all the extra stuff printed. You'll rock it!

3d printing is amazing. I've had a few pieces printed that turned out great; My Widow's Bites and belt buckle, my X-23 claws, my psycho masks, my Mercy halo. It's so light and easy to paint, you just have to sand the shit out of it first.

You'll have to let me know how Mercy goes!! It'll be Kick ass!! Cosplay is generally so awesome, although it's hard as hell! I've only attempted once and all the clothes were actual items I could buy so it wasn't really trying >.< but damn, it looks cool when people know what they're doing!

I'm doing a lot better! I was a mess for a while but my mum flew out and stayed with me and my friends have been amazing. I got a swanky new job, kicked the fucker out, got a settlement written and my life is just infintely better without him. I'm so much less stressed. He was an abusive shitheel so like, fuck that guy.
