Introduction

Introduction

Heat has taken the state of Colorado by storm. It is now mid-June and the school districts are now on vacation in the sleepy town of Bedford. As a result, more and more students have begun to tune into the daily Soul Train radio program which runs on the local classic rock station between the hours of one to five AM. Though insomnia is a trend now, it is not during the school year. And that's where we find our heroes and heroines.

Whether you're a middle school or high school student, a college student or a grown adult, you've been part of the program for a majority of the year . . the past couple of years, even. Taking up a fake alias, you join in a talk-show along side of various other anonymous users from around your town until you are able to counter your night terrors and ultimately succumb to sleep.

Everyone on the Soul Train has secrets.

. . or so the rumor goes.

And it's very much the truth. Everyone on the Soul Train has a secret of their own, a reason for their night terrors. A story to tell and a fear to overcome and not even that – a secret life?

Ratings have never been higher for the Soul Train. And that's because the regulars have begun to take up arms . . . against their own nightmares?

Oh, did we forget to mention that portion? I suppose so!

As it is so, the ratings for Soul Train have never been higher! As of recent, the night terrors have been creating a much more powerful influence over the town. The physical manifestations of people's night terrors begun to rabidly roam the streets at night while some are in deep REM state. Terrorizing and roaming about, they cause much chaos for the town and the only ones to strike them down? A series of masked, anonymous users of the Soul Train, armed to the core and ready to protect what they care about.

The only secret is your own . . and your identity.

Nobody knows who you are besides yourself. Nobody else who participates in Soul Train or listens to it has a clue as to who you are. You are a hero of the night and the only thing that people know you by is your . . . alias?

Of course, you're not completely hidden from secrecy. Your heroics are widely acknowledged by members of Bedford, though some may only treat you and the others are "town rumors" or "town lore". Word hasn't gotten outside of Bedford quite yet, but there's a belief that if the nightmares spread, then more heroes will rise. But nobody acknowledges your actions more than your listeners.

Every night, Soul Train is bombarded by listeners, asking for advice or asking questions to their idols, their heroes. Some members of Soul Train become so involved in this activity that they've begun to carry handheld radios in order to keep up with their fans! Though your tactics, weapons, weaponry and anything else will vary, depending on your personal tastes. Be wary though – you might just give yourself away!

But the most unique portion of anyone who is a member of Soul Train? The fact that they can have a companion at their side. No, no, not the other members of Soul Train, but you are able to fight with anyone you choose, of course. The fact that they are fighting along side of themselves -- well, a portion of themselves. A part of their soul. Persona.

A Persona, a weapon, your fans and a team of allies are your side seems great, right? But who knows how people would react if they found out it was you? Remember to stay alive, keep your identity a secret and stay in the game.

. . The night is alive. And you're one of the first people to get a taste of it.

Nightmares

Nightmares

Night terrors are appropriately nicknamed "Nightmares" (or as SEES or the members of P4 would call these "Shadows"). They are commonly described as the physical manifestation of one's deepest, darkest conscience, secret or/and fear. As far as their "anatomy" goes they vary in their physical attributes and "abilities". Nightmares might have speech and others may not, it varies. Truly, the only traits that Nightmares have in common is their easily see-able blackish-purple aura and the bone-chilling sense that you will get while being around them. Only Persona users are able to "kill" Nightmares, but the way to destroy a nightmare will vary depending on its weakness. Explore and try to find what each Nightmare is weak to and utilize that in order to kill it. Some Nightmares may even take the form of mythological creatures, so don't be caught off guard by them!

Persona

Persona

A Persona is a manifestation of one's soul or personality and is often referred to as a mask for a hardships that a person faces. A Persona is made from one's emotions, strong and tamed and if a person were to create a strong resolution in their heart, a Persona would undergo metamorphosis to become a new form. Like Shadows, Persona are designed off of mythological creatures, Gods, etc.

In this Roleplay, you will only have one Persona and it must be from your Arcana. You may choose a Persona from any game or create your own, but it has to be approved by the GM or Co-Mods. Sorry guys, can't let you be OP, now can I? If your confused about anything involving Persona, you can read more about it here. You can also check the very same Wikia for examples of Persona.

• Since this Persona, romance is permitted! In fact, encouraged. But if you want sexy time, you do sexy time in PMs and not in the Roleplay.


• You'll get a warning if you start drama outside of the Roleplay, after that, you'll be kicked from the Roleplay.

Ian's appearance

Name: Ian Richardson

Alias: Gunblazer

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Weapons: Ian's family are all game hunters and gun enthusiasts, and as such, as the Gunblazer, he is known to use a magnum and a crossbow as a weapon.

Arcana: The Devil.

Persona: Ian's Persona is Pazuzu, especially based off of its Persona 3: FES Incarnation. Its main weakness is to Light, but if you want an extra weakness that is more than luck based, it can be weak to Ice instead (taken from Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne.)

Its starting skills are: Poison Mist (a 25% chance of poisoning opponents) and Garudyne (a wind spell, can be depowered to Garula or Garu if you wish for it to). Skills Pazuzu can learn in the future are Spirit Drain (Syphoning energy from other targets), Poison Arrow, Virus Breath (basically a damaging Poison Mist), and Arrow Rain.

Mask: Gunblazer's mask

Attire: In Bedford, Ian dresses in loose-fitting t-shirts and baggy black jeans most of the time. In the Soul Train, however, he dresses in a black suit attire with a black top hat adorning his mask.

Occupation: Ian attends high school in Bedford and works at a local gas station that his mother's side of the family runs (he takes his mother's maiden name as his last name).

Personality: Ian, at first glance, doesn't seem to embody the Devil Arcana or the evil god Pazuzu at all. He comes across as cheerful, justice loving and optimistic, if not a little reckless and attention seeking. However, beyond that lies a darker personality. He will use other's current situations for his own sake and will betray anyone if it fits in with his own ideals or for the protection of anyone he considers a friend. This makes him more than a little unstable and a wild card amongst the heroes of the Soul Train

Weaknesses/fears: Ian's weaknesses consist of his darker traits causing a tangled web in his wake when it comes to lying and betraying others, as well as not being able to blurt out how he feels to others. He also has a fear that people will learn about his father and Ian's real last name, keeping him both on his toes about who he is on the Soul Train and in Bedford alike. He also has a fear of arachnids.

Special Abilities/Traits/Attributes/Quirks: As said before, his mother's side of the family is big when it comes to hunting, making him quite proficient with a bow or a gun (but he's downright awful at hand-to-hand combat). He is known for always putting his hands in his pockets and resting his hand under his chin often. When he isn't happy with something someone did, he won't outwardly say it, but will scrunch up his nose.

Mask
A slender mask of white and grey marble. The eye sockets are holes worn into the stone trough ages of erosion, trough a trick of the light they look like they are several meters deep. There is no mouth. From the base form cracks that run up along the mask, these cracks allow sound to pass trough the otherwise solid marble.
On the inside of the mask is a voice mod, it heightens the pitch and adds echo to the wearer's voice. The result is eerie.

Attire
Stylish Casual, he assumes. He knows fuck all about clothing but since he goes trough them quite quickly he needs to buy a lot.
But he does have more money than he knows what to do with and a childhood friend (Cherry) who loves shopping more than life. Solution: give her a credit card, no questions asked.
In his Autumn character he wears a riot gear stylized with a dark red felt long jacket. Yes, Cherry is in the know. She is the only person Hale trusted with the info, because they've known each other for over two decades, and because she lives on the other side of the world and thus will never be pulled into danger.

Occupation
Narrator. (voice acting: small series, commercials and video games mostly.)

Personality
He puts up a front of arrogance and pride. He isn't nearly so sure about himself as he lets on.
Even with all his doubts however, deep inside he's always know he's something more, something better.

Fears:
- Spending time with this persona it's rather natural to become sort off jaded. Compared to eldritch horrors it's hard to see the scary aspect of real things.
- General distrust of transportation, especially flight.
- Loss of control freaks him out.
Weaknesses:
- When it comes to relationships he's been less than lucky.
- Smoking. Bad habit, can't seem to quit it.
- Aura of ruin. (See special Abilities) This is as much a power as it is a weakness, since it doesn't discriminate.

Special Abilities / Traits / Attributes / Quirks
- A voice like poisoned cotton candy. This turns from 'comforting lullaby' to 'unsettling dirge' when he wears the mask.
- Aura of Ruin: Ever since this all started Hale noticed things have started breaking down faster.
Equipment malfunctions often, food rots faster, clothing wears faster.
Due to this he quite often has to buy new sound equipment and even though he knows a bit about handling firearms, he never does.
- Immunity to ruin and decay, both from the aura and natural sources. The smoking isn't damaging his lungs too badly, and he is barely aging. This only affects himself though, his stuff is still affected.

That took for ever!
Writing characters for use in a psychological campain is harder than others.
Also knowing fuck all about the series is a challenge.
At least I picked a persona I know a thing or two about.

As for the personality and the powers etc.
I assumed this is how this works?
I kinda took the 'Ruin and decay' aspect of the Tower and applied it as a theme to the character.
Then added some other aspects to make the whole thing 3 dimensional.

Well, for one, you're accepted. You seemed to have put a lot of effort into it, but it seems a little bare in some sections, not that it's really a bad thing. Sections that seem slightly bare: Persona, Personality. Otherwise, you did perfectly fine. As I said, it's not always a bad thing, considering those are things you can discover or write more about in the Roleplay itself.

This character might be my most developed or going to have a lot of development yet (excluding my usual OCs). I only revealed a bit of the backstory for her, but the theme song might help give out vague hints on what her story is.

Throwing Knives. She would always find ways to conceal these knives, such as hiding them in the inside pockets of her vests or even hiding a few in her boots. She doesn't mind how uncomfortable it is.

Inugami

Inugami's starting skills is "Poisma" (applies poison effect from a 25% chance) and "Fire Breath" (deals Light damage to all surrounding nearby enemies). It's weaknesses are wind and darkness. Apparently Corentine is very fond of Inugami's presence near her, she always wanted a dog.

-Mask-
Fallen Star (except part of the visor-like front isn't broken xD)

-Attire-
Corentine's closet doesn't have much honestly. Majority of her clothing is very casual, ranging from tanktops, boots, and capri shorts. Her reason for wearing these kinds of clothing is because she never really sought herself as the type of person that should wear anything too formal. The cloth she uses to cover her missing left eye (she refused to get a prosthetic eye) is actually a part of a thin tannish belt, and under the cloth she has her left eyelid sealed shut.

Formally just for Soul Train, she wears a black and white dress (the top half is white while the dress bottom is black) with cut opening to her left side to show off her leg, as well as a storage pouch tied to her left leg that contains majority of her knives. She also wears heeled boots, which is another place where she hides her knives. Lastly, she wears a small necklace with a flower pendant.

-Occupation-
Due to past sicknesses, Corentine does not involve herself outside as much (even if she's now in great condition), but is known for her web blogs focusing on stories and songs.

-Personality-
Corentine is very very socially awkward, sometimes referencing old-time phrases or readings as her responses to the most basic things and taking everything seriously. Some people would also assume from first impression that Corentine should be much older than 14 due to her mannerisms and behavior. If you get to know her, she's actually a girl full of stuff to say, and that she wants to share her thoughts with others. Usually she would actually depend to people she talks to for moral support, as she doesn't actually talk to people that often. She uses her internet blog to voice out her own thoughts, seeing it as a diary to show the public eye of the internet her personal thoughts that she would rather have a hard time telling others in person.

-Fears-
- Pain/Sacrifice: This is clearly from her experience with basal cell carcinoma, which is basically cancer within the eye. She had to have her left eye removed in order to be fully cured. After this encounter with the tumor, Corentine scared to face any kind of pain greater than what she had to go through, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Considering her left eye a sacrifice for a prolonged life, she doesn't want to sacrifice anymore, thinking that her life isn't worth it after that time.
-Heights: She never really liked heights, like being up in a huge skyscraper roof or a plane. Her reason for this is that she isn't "ready" to go up in the high and the above of the after life.
-Being Alone: Even if her behavior strays people away, Corentine always wants to have someone to accompany her, to the point where a plush animal or a pet would serve that purpose if her parents aren't around.

-Weaknesses-
-Due to her lack of social activity, she can be fooled easily when it comes to basic communication, outside her turf of "literary knowledge."
-She has no sight to her left side due to her missing left eye.
-She has a hard time trying to speak for herself despite having a talkative personality, always seeming to sway in support of another.

-Special Abilities/Traits/Attributes/Quirks-
-Due to her partial loss in sight, Corentine's hearing ability has been the stronger of the senses to make up for the loss ability in vision.
-Corentine sometimes loves to talk in riddles.
-In the mentioning of riddles, Corentine could solve proposed riddles or puzzles without much problem.
-Apparently, she doesn't share the reason why, but she seems to love or have a strange interest in knives, not actually minding the pain of hiding a few knives in her boots for some reason.
-Whenever she goes outside (which she rarely does), Corentine would always have some form of book with her.
