All of those things make me think of that history channel "movie" Blackout or whatever it was when they speculated on what would happen if the grid failed.

Yeah the History channel did play some weird special about predicting crazy stuff, I haven't seen anything good on that channel in ages, kind of a bummer.

I like Ancient Aliens, and 10 Things You Don't Know About with Henry Rollins. I also like their space stuff every now and then and sometimes the "doomsday" predictions are pretty fun. It's definitely not an educational channel tho, haha.

I used to love the space/universe series they had about different planets and other space stuff like black holes and quasars. Those were pretty neat. :3

I wasn't into it for a long time but when I got to make it my own, I got to have fun with it. I used to be such a space nerd when I was in middle school. XD I'd rather see more space discoveries than what's in the depths of the ocean. *shudders*

I always need references to something or I'm totally useless, haha. That's part of the reason I tend to stick with slice of life, or fandoms. Every once in a while I can do a modern fantasy but it has to be very lightly altered reality or I flake. /is so boring.

Awww I hope you can find your groove when it comes to fantasy or sci-fi (it took me a while to enjoy them, don't worry) because they can be real treats if they're done well. I wish I could help you get involved in something like that. I'd rather not push you though. Pictures of sci-fi or fantasy can be pretty inspiring though ^^

Science fiction is really broad. :3 It could be space based...experiment based...virtual reality based...hmm...alien based or set in the future. There really is a lot of avenues people go down. Some people put too much thought into concepts though and that's a turn off for me. Sometimes you don't need to know how every lil dodad works. I've had people nitpick some technology to no end, who I assume were science majors. Haha.

What about sci-fi piques your interest?

That's the part that I get stuck on, haha. If I don't know exactly why/how something works, I freeze up and like, refuse to make up my own lore? It's a really annoying problem and I have yet to meet anyone else who gets weird about such small details.

I just really like the aesthetic, honestly. There's something really nice and shiny about the future and not necessarily space ships or aliens, but just the technology could be really fun. I tend to picture scenes like they're from a movie, and I know that's also an odd thing to do so you're probably like, who the fuck likes something for the aesthetic when it's written? I also enjoy dystopia/utopia settings, futuristic crime, the movie Looper has a kind of fun world that I thought to play around with once or twice. So like, sci-fi with hints of reality, if that makes sense? Which is probably doesn't lmao.

It sounds like you do know what you want though. ^^ Shiny visions of a future, cool tech that doesn't need paragraphs of explanation, possibly with an overhaul of society be it some dystopia with rampant crime. Those can be pretty cool and could merge a few fandom concepts together to create. The question would be, what do you see happening with the plot or roles? It wouldn't hurt to just write some stuff down on your own, like a small flash fiction to play with ideas, even just a small one inspired by a kick ass picture~?

I want like, less than and different from the hunger games, but more than like, the setting of Bioshock with the underwater city? So, somewhere in the middle with some other sci-fi stuff mixed in? I don't know how to explain it, haha. And I'm not sure about the roles or the plot. Do you have any ideas?

I've never played Bioshock. ^^; But an underwater city sounds pretty cool. You may want to establish some kind of date. If this is in the future and maybe cities are moving under water cause fuck you global warming, it's probably at least in 2100s at least. Or if there aren't a lot of those cities, is there a conflict between them and everyone else? I'm just asking to make you think~

Idk if I'd want it to be underwater, I just mean a city that was cut off from the rest of the world. And that's another thing I have a problem with because I never know what technology would be appropriate for what year. I did have an idea for something involving lots of global warming and people developing some fish-like mutations but I'm afraid that's too big to tackle.

Ohh so sort of like a really isolated place that just developed differently compared to everyone else?

Or the idea with humans who developed differently is also a good idea, you just need to get ideas down so that fiddling with details is easier instead of trying to sort it all out mentally. At leas jotting things down helps me keep ideas straight.

And the best thing about tech is that you can do anything you want that's suitable to the environment and plot. You get to have fun with it as long as it makes some sense or is nifty. Most people are able to jump on board and accept what you give them.

Yeah, just like the isolation and a government that's totally in control of the people. I also like the idea of citizens being monitored 24/7, and even in their own homes. Getting a plot out of all these jumbled ideas feels sort of impossible, though D;

Maybe a plot will come when characters do? I know it's usually better to do plot and then characters but maybe it would help?
