I got the mods to change it to "8" in the name-change thread. Fun fact, I am the only RPG member with a username under three characters.

I checked, there are 14 usernames on NuGuild whose lengths are less than three characters long.

Fair enough.
You ARE, however, the only 1-character user.
(The other two are accounts that whose usernames were changed before banning was implemented.)

Claiming two characters is also fair games

But boy once you hit three other accounts pop up

Huge gaps missing from the story, obvsly. Like how I got into mythology, or into tabletop games, or other such things~ but that should be enough for here.

That was a very cool and interesting read, thanks.

Someone Actually noticed me? Im touched. Well lets get it over with then.
Be warned I'm hungry at the moment so don't judge me to much by this.

I was born in Sydeny, Australia, but that probably doesn't mean much to you, and I now live in a small country-ish town. I go to high school but I'm not going to tell you my actual age since most of you are probably perverts.

What drew me to rping? I always liked the idea of being someone else, seeing things from their perspective, doing something different from my usual life. I only realised this when i got my hands on video games but since then ive come to realise that there are far better alternatives for rpng. Like the guild for example.

Just had a blood nose...

Where did i get my username from? It used to be the name i used for playing with my friends but these days i use it for nearly everything.

What about spam appeals to me? Not a lot to be honest, it smells around here. But at least around here you are able to kick back And chill as well as meeting some folk you don't know of.

What are my interests besides rpng and writing? Well chances are if you have spent time in off topic the you may have seen me around spouting half baked ideas and typing unclear messages that get me into all kind of situations. But where i fall short on clearness i like to think i make up in passion as History, Politics and Religion are all things i like to talk (argue) about with like minded (or not) people. When I'm not doing that i like to read, mostly Science Fiction and mostly from my favourite author Robert Heinlein who is like the Freud of his genre (they both really like sex). I also enjoy gaming and my Steam workshop is mostly filled with Strat games like Civ 5 (and 4) or Crusader Kings.

Think thats it. Judgement time now i guess.

It means enough to me, I like knowing what area people are from. More australians here than I thought. And the funny thing is spam is actually really tame for the most part, people have shared quite a few personal details with eachother. But you do whatever is comfortable for you.

Neat idea. From what I've seen of RPers in my time is this often the case.

Awesome, scifi is my favorite fiction genre and strategy is my favorite game genre. I feel ya bruv. Tho not a huge fan of Heinlein, some of my favorites are like Charles Stross, Kim Stanley Robinson, Vernor Vinge. I intend to get back into scifi and really delve into the classics to get a feel for more of them.

I'm not even very common here, but I was forced against my will to come to this thread... What drew me to role playing was actually another forum. It was a sports forum which I mainly just went on because it had an off topic section... which also included a roleplaying section. So... when I gave up on this forum, but not roleplaying. I was wondering if there was a forum or something for this. So, Boredom mainly. I generally picked this one over the first one I saw because I never pick the first google result. My username comes from a general username I came up with. Moles generally describe me in the morning, but when I use Twitter and such I normally use a different animal to go with. The Hollywood part comes from not wanting to be called "The Mole" The thing that i've seen from reading spam posts is, that, it's a place I go when I feel semi-sad and semi-bored. So, spam couldn't make those feelings, more intense. Or altered, mostly altered. My interests outside of roleplaying and writing are reading books, tumbling, tweeting, Facebooking? (occasionally.) swimming, binge-watching,golfing,drinking various and playing strategy games + other games, but I play quite a lot of Paradox games. In which my favourite is Victoria II. Now that i've written my longest post here... about myself... I think I'm pretty much done ^___^

[8:20:52 PM] Elly Belly: I did it!
[8:21:00 PM] Doivid: okay

I've been pressured. Alright.

"what drew you to rping?"

When I was about 13, my bro got into this website where people played D&D, I guess it was basically like the tabletop games in forum format. It had all these maps people did (that would be super dated now lol), and a whole big community. I was really wowed by it, but all the rules I knew nothing about were really stifling, so I looked for 'freeform' and found the MSN groups. Went from there. In the bigger picture, I think writing, stories, collaboration, and seeing how people react to things I come up with was the main draw. Also what someone in here already said about shifting perspectives.

"where'd you get your username from?"
I'll do both just for you guys. When I came back to RPG in 2012, my username was the same as one I had on IMDB and I had run into quite a few creepers who liked to internet stalk people (in late 2010 someone tracked down a post I made somewhere in 2005 under a different username), so I wanted to change it ASAP and get rid of that potential hazard. And around that time I realized triphop was my shit so I just played around with it and tossed out ideas at Sophi for input. TripMyHop came out of that. As for Doivid...I have this australian friend who when he said my name it sounded kinda like "doi-vid" but not like duh-doi, more like the oi in 'foil'. I teased him about it and it became a thing he called me all the time. And I ended up using that on skype and TC and shit because it was easier to type and it just stuck. lol so there you go

"what about Spam appeals to you?"

When I first came to spam what appealed was that I could RP with Sophi again (ha!) and see the people she had told me about over the years a few times. Also the very first time I posted Nex was being a dippy bint and I wanted to point something out to him. But for the overall appeal I liked the random conversation and it was much less trolly/intense/negative than IMDB, so it was a nice change of pace passtime. As things have changed however, I'm pretty much just here for the people I've met that I like. And also to kill time.

"what are your other interests besides roleplaying/writing?"

History, linguistics/languages, politics, sociology/anthropology, music (this is a big one, I'm a passionate listener), futurism, environment (mostly in a scientific/observational sense), soccer, comedy (picky about this), films, horror, scifi, fiction in general, current issues, simulation/strategy/building games, and a whole slew of other things I can't think of right this second. I'm just interested in people, places (!), and learning in general. I'm an all-around curious guy.

This makes me want to do one of those survey threads now.

I felt like I might as well, seeing as well-knowner like Elendra did it and I'm sort of a lurker here in the non Sky-Stone based Spam community.

Doivid said
"what drew you to rping?"

Laziness and escapism, what else?

I had been trying to write stories for a while, but getting the motivation to write past the first chapter was a killer. Still is. I've honestly never written anything other than prologues, first chapters, and a couple paragraphs of the second for any of the books I've been trying to write. Because I loved writing, and having a partner made it so much easier, roleplaying seemed like an ideal push to get me back on track.

Of course, four or five years later, I'm still in the same situation.

On the other hand, roleplays allowed me to work more on developing characters with their own personality. It's easier to create a believable reaction for a character when you are actually reacting at the same time, I find. You really have to know what you're doing if you're building it all up yourself. So roleplaying allowed me to better harness my various characters, and put them in a variety of genres I'm not typically familiar with. At the same time, it allowed me to participate in stories, and as an avid reader, I loved watching these tales unfold, even if none ever came into fruition.

Doivid said

Holmishire was the name of a village for the first "serious" writing project I gave myself. (The only one before that starred an orphaned lightning wizard kid with a bunch of other misfit kids. I plan on deconstructing it and all my childhood imagination later.) Its affiliations with writing were largely why I used it here, instead of my more traditional account names—PureLife, the Minotaur, and the Vhamotaur. It the became my primary username, because the only people who actually refer to me by a username are Guildies, and many of them have become good friends.

I considered switching it to Holmi, but I prefer nicknames to remain just that—nicknames. Otherwise, it removes some of the charm.

Doivid said
"what about Spam appeals to you?"

I came to Spam because of Blorbs. I stayed because of the community.

Dumb as it may seem, throughout my childhood, I kept making really good friends and losing them as soon as they moved away. It was always my fault. I couldn't maintain a friendship without constant connection, and once they were out of my school, I forgot to care, no matter how much I wished I didn't. Then, as I got older, it got worse. Why? Because I stopped being able to make new friends. I went through a strongly recluse period, and came out with a very different, very meek personality. Everyone at school likes me, and when I let out my true colours, I get extra popular, but the only people who actually remain my friends were the ones I made just before or during my recluse period. Since then, any attempts I make at making friends ends up just being promoted acquaintances. I like them, I like talking to them, but not so often as to reasonably hang out with them.

So now, as I slowly drift away from the only friends that matter, and I remain incapable of making meaningful new ones, I latched on more and more to the Spam community. Because no matter what school I go to, what job I get, where I live, how busy I am, they'll always be just a click away. Maintaining isn't hard with these guys, so if I lose all my friends in real life, at least I'll have the comfort of friends on the internet.

The community here has meant a lot to me in the past couple years, and in part, has encouraged me to open myself up even more outside of it. While I hope to keep my few remaining friends outside the Guild, I have no fear of losing all of you, and that makes me feel like I belong somewhere, and I don't need to be forever doomed to being a recluse like I once was.

Doivid said
"what are your other interests besides roleplaying/writing?"

I like drawing. (I still need to finish those Spammer drawings, got busier than expected with my horrible sleeping schedule.)

I also like worldbuilding and designing characters. Each story I make for my future endeavours has a "focus" or two. These focuses are the most important things for the success of the story, ad need to be finalized before production can begin. For example, Fairytale Fantasy? Function focus—designing the magic system—and political motivations. All-out Fantasy? Function focus—designing the magic system. Fireworks? Function focus—designing the species. Distortion? Character focus and plot. And so on. Each of these worlds I create, in direct relation with their focuses, are tests for me. Ways for me to learn genre and style, so that each is extensively unique. If I get bored with one, I can switch to working on another for a while. I have dozens set up in these worldbuilding tests.

I'm a casual gamer. Also a casual reader. I like walking, too, especially speed-walking.

You bastard.

The thing about RPing that really attracts me is the flexibility and potential that you can have. For example, you can do crazy shit in a roleplay that you wouldn't be able to do in a video game. Like if you were in a roleplay based on the new Wolfenstein game, you could theoretically teabag a Panzerhund if you wanted. When consequences are put into action, it's even better. What really sucks though is that my own personal shit keeps flaring up and it's been really bad this year.

My username comes from my main character, Wayne Travers.

What really appeals to me with Spam is that it's just so goofy. Nearly nothing is taken seriously here, and I love that. Sure, folks can be pretty venomous, but I've seen way worse. Besides, I'm a bit of an asshole myself, hahaha.

Besides roleplaying and writing, I also take passion in voice acting, stage acting, and drawing. Like with writing and RPing however, I haven't been able to touch up on my hobbies much lately, owing to personal shit going on.

If you want me to answer any further questions, you ask them. I'm as tired as tits because of my insomnia.

I'll give it a shot."what drew you to rping?", Well, so, I first found out about rping when I first discovered the desolate waste land of the Spore Forum. I read up on it, looked at a couple of sites and liked the idea of a "game", and a "collaborative story", where anything can happen. "where'd you get your username from?", This ones sort of funny. If you stalked me, you would know that I use my username on any site I use, not very safe, I know. I first thought up my username when I was six or seven and joined Club Penguin. My girl-cousins showed the game to me. "what about Spam appeals to you?" I like being part of a community, I also like how you can post anything, within reason, to have a conversation that happens naturally. I came to spam for the games, and although they're sparse, I like those too. This is part of the reason I "idolized" Nat, I thought there was a niche I could fill there, when I thought Nat was loved and accepted, not that I won't like someone who isn't, and didn't realize my actions would be frowned upon."what are your other interests besides roleplaying/writing?" I like to read, and play computer games. XD I prefer multi player games, or MMOs. (I play almost anything done by Artix Entertainment.) I do a little bit of soccer and want to try out for the school team, I'm a little nervous though, they take the game a lot more seriously than I do. I also am a Boy Scout, I do with my church. I am apart of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, or a Mormon to most. I am in middle school. I also aspire to be an Astro Physicist when I get a career. I also like to make tops out of random things. I am also really good at writing choppy sentences. I am human. There, now all you sharks may feed on me since you caught me in your trap.P.S.My favorite ____ is:animal: Axolotl.band: Imagine Dragonscomic: Axe CopAsk away.
